This long New York Times article on the wave of violence in Israel and Palestine describes many Palestinian attacks but says not one word about settler violence.
The entire article is from the Israeli Jewish perspective. Right at the start we are told this is “a country in a grim mood on the eve of a Jewish holiday,” and then the catalog of violence is all Palestinian:
Mr. Netanyahu and others in his rightist government have accused President Mahmoud Abbas and his Palestinian Authority of inciting violence and giving tacit support to terrorism, not least by failing to promptly condemn the gun and knife attacks that claimed the lives of four Israelis in the West Bank and the Old City of Jerusalem over the last few days.
Violence struck again at around 4 a.m. on Sunday when a Palestinian from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya stabbed and wounded a 15-year-old Jewish boy on a road outside the Old City, according to the police.

There is not a word here of the settler attacks that Allison Deger reports from Ramallah, or that the Israeli website +972 has from across Palestine:
Israeli settlers carried out dozens of violent attacks across the West Bank over the past two days in the wake of the murders of four Israeli civilians by Palestinians.
The Times just can’t go there. It can’t relate the settler “pricetag” attacks of six days ago that Deger reports, or the arson attack by settlers on the Dawabshe family in Duma two months ago that killed three, or the killing of a Palestinian medic, Diaa al-Talahmeh two weeks ago (which Deger reports motivated alleged Palestinian killer Mohannad Halabi), or the “extrajudicial execution” by Israeli soldiers of Hadil al-Hashlamoun in occupied Hebron ten days ago.
All are surely factors in the latest wave of unrest.
In the Times‘s distortion of the truth, this isn’t even a cycle of violence. It’s all Palestinian attacks aimed at Israelis. The arrogance is epitomized by this observation:
Israelis debated whether the string of recent attacks by Palestinians, which appeared to lack any orchestrating group, amounted to a third intifada, or uprising.
You’d think if there were a Palestinian uprising, Palestinians would announce it. Not in the pages of the New York Times.

Racist violence has erupted following terrorist attacks in the past, but this time it seems that the Jewish mob which took to the streets was accepted by Jerusalemites with understanding, if not downright approval.
Just like after every other terror attack in recent years, young Jews vented their anger with racist violence for several hours, attacking Arab passersby in Jerusalem on Saturday night.
So, NYT doesn’t report Jewish terrorism and violence? Nothing new here.
American Jews need a news-and-petition home-page to concentrate political action for Israeli-Palestinian truth-telling.
It is for the American Jewish people to petition the NYT to print news of Israeli (government and civilian) terrorism and violence, not just Palestinian terrorism and violence.
It is for JVP and (the few) decent-ethical-and-brave rabbis to call attention to Israeli crimes, call them what the are, crimes, and demand the NYT cover these stories.

The abject dishonesty of the New York Times on Israel is a central story in the world today. This series of articles on the NYT’s blatant dishonesty deserves a Pulitzer Prize. The centrality of this story reflects the centrality of the NYT’s role in setting the standards of journalism for America. The meaning of the story is that America is living in a Gaza of the mind, with its mainstream news controlled by war profiteers. We have The War Profiteer Times, The War Profiteer Post, War Profiteer Evening News, and various Sunday morning discussion shows controlled by the war profiteers.
At some point this story will break wide open, because once people know what the actual facts are, they can’t help notice those facts are going unreported by their favorite respected news source. They will become VERY angry.
Those of us who have been watching this for years , recognise that this latest outbreak of violence is just another re-run of past events , where Israel relentlessly attacks Palestinians , on the streets, in their homes , at their places of work, in or on their way to school etc etc.This is Israel,s method of creating a so called violent response which then allows Israel to claim that the Palestinians started the whole business.This method works , thanks to the MSM in many countries who only report violence against Jews , who will be portrayed as ordinary folks going about their business and as helpless victims pf Palestinian terrorism.There will be no mention of them being illegal gun toting squatters , many of whom are involved in committing crimes against Palestinians.There will be no mention of the fact that some are off duty idf thugs who have probably murdered their fair share of Palestinians. There will be no mention of the the fact that these people are land thieves living on stolen land in Jews only squats and driving on Jews only roads.
It is absolutely disgraceful that Israel gets away with these crimes and has been doing so for decades.When the f–k is someone in the intl community going to stand up to these criminals and put an end to zionism before it will be the cause of WW 3 .Zionism is not worth the life of one innocent human .
Next time Mondoweiss writes in its publication the strange and bizarre title known by mondoweiss as”Liberal zionists” let us remind them of this very article so that they remember that there is not such thing as “liberal racism”!
