‘Leftist’ Israeli general threatens to ‘tear the Palestinians apart’ and ‘toss them across the Jordan’

on 18 Comments

Amiram Levin, a retired Israeli general, is a strong supporter of Labor leader Avi Gabbay.

Recently Levin unfurled his murderous views about Palestinians in an interview with Maariv (Hebrew), which will be published in full this coming weekend. In it, he opined that “the Palestinians deserved the occupation”. He said that “we justly conquered Judea and Samaria [sic]. They did not accept the partition borders [referring to UN Partition plan 1947] and opened a war. They don’t deserve anything”.

Levin speaks about ‘peace process’, saying that “peace is hope”: “We need to conduct strict negotiations and not return to 1967 lines”. He speaks of a time after Palestinian President Abbas, about a young Palestinian leadership that “sat in jail and saw that we [Israel] can’t be defeated.”

“We’ll give it a carrot in the form of a state, and if it doesn’t want it, we’ll tear it apart. I would also have wanted the whole of Israel [referring to the whole of historical Palestine]. Many times I have said that if they violate agreements, the next time we’ll fight here they will not remain, we will toss them across the Jordan. That’s how you need to fight. We were way too nice in ‘67”.

Yes, that’s right – that’s a Zionist ‘leftist’ saying those things. They are not very different from what Likud minister Tzachi Hanegbi said recently, that the Palestinians may be bringing a “third Nakba” upon themselves.

It’s not so strange either, that these words come from Levin. In the past, he has said about Palestinians, that “most of these people are born to die anyway, we just need to help them to it.”

What may appear strange to some, is how such a person can be considered a ‘leftist’ and a ‘liberal’. Indeed, Levin has come out in defense of Breaking the Silence, an organization that gathers stories and testimonies from Israeli soldiers, stories which amount to evidence of prima facie war crimes. He apparently enjoys the notion of ‘shooting and crying’. But he really hasn’t got much tears to spare for Palestinians.

His position resembles much the Israeli historian Benny Morris, who opines that “there are circumstances in history that justify ethnic cleansing”, that if David Ben-Gurion “was already engaged in expulsion, maybe he should have done a complete job”, that “something like a cage has to be built” for the Palestinians, because “there is a wild animal there that has to be locked up in one way or another.”

Haaretz has also noticed this today (Hebrew). In the weekend, Maariv, which merely summarized parts of the interview, will publish the full interview. We can already imagine what it will say. It may be shocking, but how surprising is it?

And will it surprise Israelis at all? After all, this is only the ‘left’, and there are equally murderous expressions from the right. (Can it really get any worse?)

This is ‘liberal Zionism’ at its best. Certainly not ‘Arab-loving’ (as former Labor leader Isaac Herzog warned followers not to be). It’s militant and aggressive – because a Jewish State can’t have anything else than ‘strong Jews’.

No doubt this repulsive Nazi will be first in line when it comes to loading the Palestinians into /onto the cattle trains or boats. Hey and if the Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel object and protest he will be first in line to load them up too. And all this presupposing that Jordan/Lebanon will stand idly by and allow these hundreds of thousands/millions to be “tossed” into their countries. Typical grotesque Zionist arrogance – all presupposing that American high tech aerial weaponry will win the day. He and his fellow right wing crazies ( there is no longer a left or centre politics in Zioland ) really do live in the past. Of course Zioland can be defeated and will be defeated because when all is said and done it is nothing more than a shitty little artificial cult colony surrounded by a huge swathe of humanity which rightly loathes them. Short of outright genocide of Holocaust proportions (from the air that is – mano el mano is a thing of the past for the pampered most moral) Zioland is basically screwed by virtue of simple demographics and yes they deserve what`s coming to them.

“Liberal Zionist” is a contradiction in terms.

Mr. Levin is (or sounds an awful lot like) a hard-core Zionist who takes care of the “necessary evil” in order to secure Jewish supremacism in/and a religion-supremacist “Jewish State” in as much as possible of Palestine.

His softer, “liberal Zionist” co-collectivists may object to his Captain Israel approach to the situation but in the end they “hold their noses” and cheer him on because they, too, desire Jewish supremacism in/and a religion-supremacist “Jewish State” in as much as possible of Palestine.

The focus is on this clown identifying as lefty. I wonder how he can be recognised as a Jew.

One has to understand that the Israeli “Left” is the left wing of right extremism.

An understatement if there was ever one.

This guy isn’t a nazi. He is equally evil nevertheless.

In this case I think it is ‘Left’ in the sense of what is left when you strip away any humanity.

Israel is mired in WW2 trauma. All of the bloodlands countries-Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Russoa- are. More than 27 Million Soviet citizens died and 5 million Poles died in WW2. Ashkenazi territory was in the bloodlands. Israel is a mess because of group trauma.
This general is the way he is because of trauma.

Expecting Israel to behave is insane.

The thoughts of a murderer that have become normalized by the jewish state. Maybe natfali bennett was channeling those thoughts on his missions, and when he claimed he’d killed arabs and there was ‘no problem with that’.

I agree that israel is mired in trauma – it’s everywhere, in the round abouts, the street names, the names of schools, hospitals, etc. In that way it’s alot like the american south, mired in the history of defeat against what they term the war of northern aggression. I have no sympathy for the south, only the african americans who continue to be oppressed. I have no sympathy for these jews, because they’ve forgotten their humanity and act like rabid dogs.

Early Zionist leaders (e.g., Israel Zangwill, Ben-Gurion, Arthur Ruppin) were laying the groundwork for the dispossession and expulsion of Palestine’s indigenous Arab inhabitants decades before WWII.

This dark world’s paradigm, or operating principle, embraced by most, including victims of neoconservatism/neoliberalism, is ‘riches for the strongest’. The soulless ‘leftist’ general has embraced that paradigm wholeheartedly. He’s free to do so, as all are. But if he thinks there will be no consequences, because so far he hasn’t experienced any and because he has a world of moral support, he’s dead wrong. And it doesn’t matter whether he knows it or not.

Darkness is its own reward. In this money system which we all live under, some happily and some unhappily, in which money means life, those who choose riches over God and darkness over light, don’t get brighter – in any sense – with time. They dim. Their lives fade, notwithstanding the incredible nova-like violence that emanates from them as their pathology eats them alive. That pathology involves an erosion of the physical soul as a result of cognitive dissonance. “I’m a man of God, but I love terror and I hate those who I terrorize, conveniently, even though in order to do so I must reject God’s standards and can’t properly claim to be a man of God.” Those who reject God and then seek to replace him embrace a Lie that causes a disturbance within them that translates into trouble-making by them. They lose their peaceableness. Lacking humility – which those who lack other principles will lack – they can’t admit to having made a mistake and taken a wrong, dark path. And so they rationalize (make appear good something bad or erroneous) and self/world justify (simply choosing to view their behavior as good and acceptable, which they are helped to do by their similarly wayward neighbors) and the twisted in that way becomes normal and the normal (human rights, honesty, a love of justice and compassion) becomes, in their view, twisted. But that doesn’t go away, any more than the mental itch of cognitive dissonance goes away. The way it’s explained (by social psychologists like Elliot Aronson) is that if the conflicted person can’t exercise humility and change course, then he (or…) will engage in dissonance-reduction behavior which seeks to minimize the intensity of the mental itch. Literally, One changes the cognitive link (cognitions) between the good self image and the perceived reality. One lies to oneself. And, when it comes to God, the person who rejects him – which you do, obviously, when you reject his standards and disparage his qualities – and seeks to replace him, must, again obviously, seek confirmation that there is no God. When the rebel is satisfied (which never lasts) that the God of love isn’t there, and he’s safe, or that God would have rescued your victims out of your hand, then the rebel has momentary peace. But it doesn’t last. No hit of a drug lasts. Worse, The inner disturbance of the rebel that translates into trouble-making increases. And that’s how you get the incredible, shocking spectacle of people calling to God to “Bring it!,” which they do by behavior that goes from bad to worse, with victims multiplying and their suffering increasingly steadily.

It’s not hard to see. An example I like to use is of the American torturers in Vietnam who held one Vietnamese man in a white, freezing cold room for four years and then took him up in a plane and dumped him out. Why go to all that trouble? In those four years, Do you think it’s possible that that man’s torturers didn’t once think of God and wonder whether he was actually there?

I am curious. What does anyone expect? And I think it’s despicable to give a criminal like this any mitigating excuse such as “trauma”? Trauma? What they continually do is traumatize others. There is no such thing as “Liberal Zionism”. It is an oxymoron. Frankly, the original UN definition of Zionism was correct. Remember Durbin? Zionism is racism, you cannot refine it.

Sort of like saying a liberal Nazi was so as traumatized by impact of the Versailles Treaty?

Is Bibi Netanyahu thinking Israel can expel millions of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, in coming years?

    • rafa santisteban on December 20, 2017, 4:08 pm

Good question. If you look at his youtube interviews – esp of many years ago, when he wasn’t in power – I don’t think there is any question that he is v. v. dedicated to securing the whole of Greater Israel with as few Palestinians as pos. My guess would be that they don’t have any ultimate plan. He and most of Israel are just going at it patiently, slowly relentlessly . First get 1 – 2m Jews in the West Bank, then they can work out a way to get rid of the remaining Palestinian shtetls. In the meantime, make life for the Palestinians ever more uncomfortable so some get the hell out voluntarily..
Would be interesting to hear from s.o. with factual insights into Israeli long-term thinking on Palestinians.
