The world’s anger toward Trump gives Palestinians a clear path for action

on 24 Comments

US president Donald Trump has taken a decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Forget about international law, UN and Security Council Resolutions, Arab and Muslim reaction! The President of the United of Sates of America does not give a damn. If the world doesn’t like it, it can bang its head against the “wailing wall!”

What is Jerusalem?

Jerusalem is Zarnouqa, the village from which my family together with thousands of villagers, were ethnically cleansed in 1948 in order to make room for Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern Europe, a pure Jewish state, similar to Apartheid South Africa and other settler-colonies, one that does not grant you citizenship unless you are born to a Jewish mother.

Alas, my mother was not Jewish and, therefore, I am expected to live in a refugee camp, accept my low status, and never think of praying in one of the holiest sites of Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

President Trump, with all sincerity, believes that we are biologically born different and, therefore, some of us have no right to exist and survive on this piece of land unless we choose to be slaves and be grateful for that!

What should we do?

First, we must not seek the consent of Zionist Israelis. More than 23 years of negotiations, ala Oslo, have led us nowhere. Rather, these so-called negotiations have prolonged the occupation and given Israel every opportunity to make the establishment of even a semi-Bantustan an impossibility.

In fact, we want to work hard to isolate Israel through resistance and the demand that the international community implement the resolutions of international legitimacy, and force Israel to respond to these international decisions. Therefore, we must not take into account the demands of the colonizer because, unfortunately, they are even more than the white demands of South Africa during the Apartheid era. They ultimately will lead to the total elimination of the indigenous population in Palestine. This is a systematic ethnic cleansing process that has been taking place since 1948.

So, we must work on making this moment our South African turning point by intensifying #BDS. We must translate all this anger worldwide into a plan of action that takes Boycott, Divestment and sanctions as its leading torch towards peace with justice in Palestine.

It is time to get rid of the racist two state solution, renounce the Oslo Accords, and come up with a democratic alternative, one that does not deny the humanity of the inhabitants of historic Palestine regardless of their religion, race and gender!

President Trump is not expected to agree with those democratic ideals, but who cares? Weren’t those the ideals for which Nelson Mandela was prepared to die, as he made it absolutely clear at the Rivonia trial? We have 12 million Mandela’s in Palestine.

Haider Eid is a legend. As they say in Palestine sah kalamha. Sah kalam abuha. Sah kalam ummha. His words are true. So are his parents’.

Israel is a human tragedy. Deluded groupthink. Mutant Judaism.

Not to mention the sick cult of Evangelicals led by Hagee. Is there any relationship on earth more sick, terrifying than the Jewish and Christian Zionists?

Or maybe build a country of your own. You can start by kicking that terrorist group out of Gaza and replacing it with something that functions.

      || hophmi: Or maybe build a country of your own. You can start by … ||

…imitating the “Jewish State” project and adopting its tactics: Deliberate and unapologetic terrorism, ethnic cleansing, military occupation, oppression, colonialism, torture and murder.

Defenders of the “Jewish State” will be flattered. And because they aren’t hypocrites (right?) you know they won’t:
      – “single you out” for criticism; or
      – appeal to the international laws – the ones they spent decades shitting on – to stop you.

Good man hopeless. Kick the IDF out of Gaza. For once I agree with you

How about kicking out the Jewish terrorist regime out of Palestine and replace it with something that is not oppressing Nonjews or keeps them expelled to fake a majority ruling democracy?

Haidar, thank you for framing the argument this way. It certainly makes a lot more sense when you referenced the logical point of view of the oppressed. The United States mainstream media regularly references the opinion of the oppressors.

I hope with the isolation the u.s. is experiencing, especially with the u.n. security council’s rejection of tRUMP’s most recent ridiculous proclamation,…/convenes-emergency-meeting-jerusalem-decision-1712081627 that israel will really feel the burn on this one. netanyahooo and tRUMP need to go; I suggest the moon.

Sorry, too busy reading “State of Terror” and “Israel and South Africa: The Many Faces of Apartheid”.

  7. Talkback on December 10, 2017, 7:24 am

    Step 1 has been achieved:

“Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will not meet U.S. Vice President Mike Pence during his visit to the region and there will be no communication between U.S. and Palestinian officials Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki said on Saturday. … after Abbas said Washington could no longer be a peace broker …”

So much for your peace plans, Trump. Since you and Israel can no longer fake a peace process it’s high time to go for the international court route.

    • MHughes976 on December 10, 2017, 9:19 am

I’ll be quite surprised if there are no talks involving Abbas and others if – probably shoukd say ‘when’ – Trump makes his second move, which he will call proposing a peace plan with what he will call concessions from Israel.

  8. Talkback on December 10, 2017, 7:40 am

Step 2: “Since now it was “meaningless” to erect a Palestinian state without Jerusalem as its capital, his people were left only one option: “To fight for equal rights” in a single state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean, [Abbas] claimed.”

  9. Ossinev on December 10, 2017, 8:01 am

I agree that ongoing BDS is the way forward and it is biting – ergo the frantic Zionist campaign to delegitimize what they simultaneously claim it be a failure. However IMHO the one and only way forward for the Palestinians is a clearly stated abandonment of the ludicrous two state solution farce ( as in zero sovereignty , multiple Bantustans, zero border controls , zero control of airspace, multiple IDF checkpoints ,zero control of aquifers – the list is endless ). A declaration by PA leaders that their policy is now one of a peaceful pursuit of a single state with equal rights for all would knock the stuffing out of Zionist Israel and cause panic in Zionist America. Full frontal in your face Apartheid would of naturally follow along with a significant emigration of OMG what have I let myself in for Aliyahites. Then BDS bigtime as with South Africa and well we know how that ended.

    • Bosnorth on December 10, 2017, 8:53 am

On the South Africa model and already all in place for Palestine, the following are now the reality:

      1. No more fake, loaded negotiations, no more “peace process” fig-leaf.

      2. Civil insurrection against the Occupation including total non-cooperation and dissolution of the PA. When Apartheid South Africa became ungovernable Apartheid’s days were numbered.

      3. BDS in the form of SANCTIONS and a breakthrough in international diplomacy to make Israel a pariah state and establish its total illegality both in its tearing up of UN legal decisions and in running an illegal apartheid system in both the Occupied territories and “mainland” Israel.

      4. International solidarity: BDS has so far been largely not so much about actual boycott but building a mass movement of support and solidarity, with thousands of front lines where activists demand the right to call for BDS and to tell the truth about Israel. This solidarity movement needs to support:

      5. A political programme to direct the rage and demand full, equal democratic, legal, religious, cultural, human and civil rights for all currently living between the river and the sea and full right of return with dignity and compensation for all those exiled since 1948.

      6. What form this will take will be a process involving a moral and communal re-birth and engagement, not Big Power intervention. About a quarter of Israelis (down from a third not long ago) and nearly half of Palestinians already favour a single democratic state: that’s not a bad starting point.

    • Maghlawatan on December 10, 2017, 9:35 am

      7. Treat Israelis everywhere as pariahs. Middle class Sith Africans say that was a key factor in the fall of their system.

      • inbound39 on December 10, 2017, 2:20 pm

Regardless of what Trump and Netanyahoo do now Zionism is finished and Israel and Netanyahu’s Team Terror have painted themselves into a corner. The Israeli and American Governments now share the values of International Illegitimacy.

      • mcohen.. on December 10, 2017, 3:06 pm

        Maga says…
.the difference between south africa and israel is that the west found the democratic alternative acceptable in south suited western countries to have access to south africa’s resources.

What democratic alternative will work in israel.?

H.E the author who lives in gaza said a democratic alternative must be applied.instead of waffling on about bds and south africa ……what democratic alternative is there

      • Mooser on December 10, 2017, 5:57 pm

“What democratic alternative will work in israel.?”

As the number of Jews willing, or able to support Zionism goes down, and Israel loses power and population, a democratic alternative might emerge. That’s one possible route.

And every single trend, both general and about Zionism in specific, says the diminution is on the way. See you in the next Pew, “mcohen”.

An end to Zionist apartheid would reduce levels of political violence and episodes of Antisemitism.
        Zionism is for scumbags.

If you have 12 million Mandelas in Palestine, mobilize just 10% of them and march en masse to the Israeli border, demanding an end to your illegal and inhumane treatment. If you wait for BDS to really take hold, you may be waiting decades. A march on the border can happen tomorrow. Certainly there will be casualties, probably many, but you WILL get the Jewish state’s attention and just may be able to make real progress towards your goal of freedom and justice for all your people.

One thing’s for sure, you’ll scare the hell out of the Israeli Jews, hopefully for the better long term.
