Chuck Schumer says he supports Senate resolution that denounces the BDS movement

on 11 Comments

The Jewish Insider is reporting that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will announce his support for a new resolution that targets the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement today.

S.Res.120 is a bipartisan piece of legislation that was introduced by Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Rob Portman (R-OH). It currently has 61 co-sponsors, including Democratic presidential hopeful Cory Booker. The resolution denounces any efforts to boycott the state of Israel, “including efforts to target United States companies that are engaged in commercial activities” with the country. “I have long believed that the BDS effort is a profoundly biased campaign to delegitimize the state of Israel, and I look forward to Congress passing the resolution with overwhelming bipartisan support,” Schumer told Jewish Insider.

H.Res.246 is a companion piece of legislation that was introduced in the House. That resolution currently has 316 co-sponsors, including 162 Democrats.

Schumer’s support for the resolution is certainly not a surprise. He has been a vociferous supporter of Israel for years and co-sponsored 2017’s Israel Anti-Boycott Act (S. 720), which was developed with the assistance of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). That bill would have made it a felony for some to support BDS, carrying a maximum penalty of $1 million and a twenty-year prison sentence. Although that bill died at the end of the 115th session of Congress, there have been numerous attempts to pass similar legislation in the Senate and the House since then, including a recent backdoor move by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) to punish BDS supporters by amending U.S. tax code.

The resolution should reach a vote later this year.

The Zionists are desperate. They and their lap-dogs are even introducing unconstitutional legislation that would fine people $250k+ and possibly imprison them for 20 years just for conscientiously boycotting the criminal genocidal Zionist entity. Even the McCarthyite Communist Control Act of 1954 (which, incidentally, is still in effect, though courts have declared it unconstitutional) didn’t go quite that far.

What next: martial law against BDS? shooting supporters in the street?

Casting aside his pledge as a senator to respect and abide by the constitution, Chuck Schumer once again kowtows to “Israel,” a thoroughly documented, brutal, illegal expansionist occupier, ethnic cleanser, beggar “state” dependent on US taxpayer provided aid, and a serial violator of hard won international humanitarian law, by declaring he will oppose BDS, an entirely legal and peaceful means of legitimately supporting the long suffering indigenous Palestinian Arabs. Of course, given his record, it comes as no surprise. George Washington must be screaming from his grave.**

      Must watch:

Video: 2018 IAC Conference: Zionists, Chuck Schumer, Haim Saban and Nancy Polosi prostrate themselves before “Israel.”

**In his Farewell Address, George Washington admonished his fellow citizens to steer clear of a “passionate attachment” to another nation, as it could create “the illusion of a common interest… where no common interest exists.”

Isn’t it ironic , that Schumer , Schiff , and Nadler, who all despise Donald Trump , hop right into the anti BDS campaign . It’s nice to know that they can support the Donald in some fashion. Wonder why that is ? oh that’s right their all Zionists. The Carte Blanche support of Israel by the United States will led to Armageddon . The invasion of desperate refugees into Europe and the masses huddling on the 2000 mile USA border with Mexico , will only get worse.

How many refugees are being accepted into Israel ? Heck there are 2,000, 000 living in Gaza, by any reasonable definition of a refugee. As the great American character actor, the late Strother Martin , said to Paul Neumann in the Oscar winning movie Cool Hand Luke ” Is what we have here , is a failure to communicate” That about sums up the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

every Congress member who even considered signing the anti-BDS bill is sacrificing the rights of their own constituents and all Americans to the interests of a foreign government. Once again, this is the height of disloyalty – and a measure of just how much power AIPAC has. Every one of them should be removed from office.

It is clearly illegal for government to force someone to waive a constitutional right of political speech, including boycotts. We cannot allow Zionists, be they Democrats or Republicans, to abrogate our constitutional rights, so as to further shield israel from accountability.

And everyone is in a tizzy about Russia when israel has interfered more in US politics than any other country? If your loyalties lie with Israel, you’re free to leave the States; just surrender your US citizenship at the border. No man can serve two masters.

The BDS movement “against” South Africa did not “delegitimize” South Africa.

In fact, the BDS movement “against” South Africa actually helped South Africa to become democratic.

What Chuck Schumer opposes is Democracy in Israel. Why assume he’s any more of a champion of Democracy in the United States? He violates his oath of office. He lies about defending the U.S. Constitution. Vote this traitor out of office.

    Thank you, Chuck!

Schumer, the self-proclaimed ‘shomer’ (guardian) for Israel, once again proves Ilhan Omar’s and Rashida Tlaib’s point about there being a problem with dual loyalty in the US Congress. Rather than acknowledge the obvious, though, most of their fellow members have either attacked them as anti-Semites, or simply remained quiet.

As my friend, Alison Weir, has said, support for Palestinian justice is the true litmus test for integrity among the candidates for President. Anyone who fails this test doesn’t deserve our vote!

Then I guess you’ll be staying home in November 2020 and delivering the election to Trump. Thanks for nothing.

Trump isn’t any worse than all your other Zionist criminals against humanity –Clintons, Bushes, Obama, you name them. Let’s get the Nuremberg laws enforced and whoever deserves the undiscounted puunishment punished (whatever they’re supposed do to them nowadays), and then we can talk about the newcomers.

While preparing the comeuppance for the lower ranks, of course.

Wrong! Bernie, though still a liberal Zionist, has spoken out about the suffering of the Palestinian people and how their needs must be accounted for in any settlement between the two sides. That, in my mind, passes the litmus test. In fact, I plan to work for the Bernie campaign, as I did in 2016.

No, I’m not sitting this one out – at all!!

This article mentions that Senator Cory Booker, who is running for the Democratic Party’s nomination for president, has co-sponsored this heinous Senate bill. But so has fellow-candidate Senator Kirsten Gilibrand! A further 7 Democratic Senators laudably opposed the Senate bill (S.1) in February penalizing BDS (Philip Weiss wrote about it in Mondoweiss), but are now co-sponsoring this even worse bill: Ed Markey, Richard Durbin, Tammy Baldwin, Ben Carper, Jeanne Shaheen, Jack Reed and Chris Murphy.
Candidate/Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Kamala Harris are not co-sponsors of this one. Michael Bennet supported/supports both pro-Israel bills.
I hope Mondoweiss offers comprehensive coverage of the candidates’ positions on Palestine.
