Eighteen-year old Adan Alhjooj tells the story of Sa’wa, a Naqab (Negev Desert) Bedouin village in southern Israel. Last week, Adan, along with people of all ages from her Naqab Bedouin community, protested against a resurgent Jewish National Fund (JNF) forestation campaign on Sa’wa’s land. As told to producer/director Ghousson Bisharat and cinematographer/editor Thomas Dallal.

Ms. Alhjooj is well on her way to effectively dealing with the public. Measured words, calm presentation, and authentic manner. An example of “how to take” from our system of competing interests what is rightfully hers. May Bisharat and Dallal continue to nurture this talent.

Bedouin don’t have land, that’s what makes them Bedouin.
