I always feel vaguely silly writing these things. So I'm Canadain with a strong intrest in social justice. Politically I think I'm one of those on the far left people are always going on about.

  • Jews and trauma
    • I think people are being deeply unfair to Phil. It is perfectly normal to be interested in what makes up your identity. I'm Canadian but I am most interested in the people and history of Lancashire because that is where my mother comes from and she has had the greatest impact on my life. To expect that the Holocaust would not have affected Phil's parents is deeply absurd. However, Phil has been able to overcome this cultural trauma and know that Israels should not treat the Palestinians the way they do. To be able to step outside of the ethos of your culture is something few are able to do. We should praise those that can not criticize them because they are not perfect.

  • Pro-Israel Democrats concede 'human rights' issue is killing the brand
    • Reasoned thought id not their strong point

    • "In recent years, some Americans have come to look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the lens of human rights"

How on God's Green Earth can you not view the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the lens of human rights? Just more proof of the lack of reasoning ability of your average Zionist

    • Support for equality, international law and human rights should be the concern of all people not just the far left.

    • Thank you for telling us DM are being supported by other groups, I am currently having a break from posting on another board because apparently, I am anti-Semitic for not automatically believing that the Jewish women were being discriminated against.

    • Thank you for your article Nada, I'm currently having a discussion elsewhere regarding this topic and you have helped my argument immensely.

  • The Palestine-Israel language trap
    • I belong to an another discussion group and currently there is a thread about anti-Semitism where few people are listing out the various incidents of what they feel are anti-Semitic including BDS. But at the same time, they are being incredibly Islamophobic and anti-Palestinian. I once had a discussion with one these people where I pointed out that the African slave trade and the genocide of the indigenous people of the Americas and Australia were in scale and duration a much greater tragedy than the Jewish Holocaust, boy did she object to that point of view. I no long join discussion on this topic on that board.

  • Media accusations of blood libels -- against Abbas and Sanders -- amplify a Jewish tribal fantasy
    • I find it interesting that apparently, the Palestinian are the only people in history that are not allowed to hate their oppressors/occupiers. The ancient Celts no doubt hated the Romans, the Saxons hated the Normans, and many First Nations people may still hate Europeans with good reason. Why would anyone be surprised if Palestinians hate Jews, it is surprising that so many Palestinians are able to differentiate between different groups of Jews.

  • Israel gets to use violence. Palestinians don't. That's the rule
    • Rational Zionist I don't believe you understand what mandates were, they were not colonies and the mandatory authorities job specifically for Class A mandate to aid in administrative until such time as a fully functioning native government could take over. The Brits as you call them didn't have the right to split up Palestine, and in fact, abstained from voting for the proposal in the UN general assembly. The UK also refused to enforce the terms because the Palestinians rejected the proposal. Additionally because the resolution never when to the UN
Security Council it remained only a recommendation. So neither the Brits or the UN split up Palestine.

  • 'Why I am a Zionist'
    • Colonialism in the “New World” was successful for the most part because of the susceptibility of the natives to “Old World” diseases. It is estimated that 100 million people died post 1492 most from diseases such chicken pox, influenza and small pox. Depending where in the Americas you are talking about the technological superiority of Europeans was not a given. For example the conquistadores would have been Aztec steak.

  • Pro-Israel wealthy Jews feature in 'Forward,' Christie roast, and U of Michigan censorship
    • I have got to the point where I find it very difficult to take Jewish complaints of Antisemitism seriously because so many of the people making the charge have no problem being racist against other people, in particular Muslims/Arabs/Palestinians. I feel like saying until all Jewish leaders start denouncing Israeli crimes don't complain about Antisemitism. I know this attitude is wrong, but I have a real problem with this Zionist double standard.

    • Annie,

I came to the conclusion that most Zionists fit into one of three categories after I was called antisemitic for pointing out that Hezbollah would not have come into existence without the repeated Israeli of Lebanon

      1) hopelessly stupid
      2) hopelessly ignorant
      3) hopelessly racist

You can take you pick which one Hophmi fits in

  • Lawrence Summers says BDS movement is 'persecuting' Israel
    • JeffB,

You clearly have a problem with the difference between facts and name calling

ethnic bigot - Fact Zionism favours Jews over non-Jews
segregationists - Fact Non-Jews and Jews do not live in the same areas and are not educated in the same schools and many more resources are expended on Jews
ethnic cleanser - Fact over 1 million Palestinians where expelled from there land and not allowed to return.
“other people’s lands” - Biggest fact of all, 93% of the land in the Palestine in 1947 was owned by non-Jewish Arabs that makes it other People Land.

By the way I am Anti-Zionist because I believe that the Land of Palestine belongs to it's Indigenous Arab inhabitants and not to Jews who emigrated there from Europe or other parts of the Middle East. Please tell my why that makes me Anti-Semitic

  • Rehavam Ze'evi and the discourse of expelling Palestinians
    • Can you please provide one example of an indigenous population that willingly accepted partition of their land? The partition argument is the dumbest one that is Zionest bring up because not a single indigenous population anywhere has ever voluntarily accepted the taking of their land by an outside group. What did you expect that the Palestinians would do? Wonder of into the sunset sing Kumbaya or perhaps joyously shouting the Jews are coming the Jews are coming. This expectation you have is totally against human nature.
