Countries outside the US orbit of influence will also make token statements, withdraw ambassadors, in those moments when there's an Israeli incursion or protestors being shot - situations when an objective country expresses concern about war crimes. Israel takes note of that. They have a map of those regimes that aren't silenced by them and they want them gone. Libya's been a target for a while, taken care of now and the hardship of the people is of no concern to US or Israeli leaders.
I'm not saying that Israel is the reason for the US policy on Venezuela, not just Trump's but the previous coup attempt and Obama's attempt to isolate them by making nice to Cuba. Oil is big here as well as a Cold War struggle against a socialist bloc or a South American resistance to US hegemony. But Israel's another big, growling political doggie. Guaidó and Netanyahu are both friends of the openly Fascist Bolsonaro, and the message here is that if you put up any resistance to, among others, Israel, the clamps will be put on economically, your people will starve and leave the country, and if possible we'll steal your oil and gold thank you very much while the UN asks our permission to use the rest room.
Israel is after all a model economy and Venezuela is 'failed socialism,' so put sanctions on Venezuela so they can't sell your oil and give billions of dollars to Israel every year, because Israel, um, needs it more or whatever. Fun fact: since South Africa ended apartheid, their GDP growth has been almost the same as Israel's during the same time, without Uncle Sam's allowance.
Readers of Mondoweiss and several other publications that fact check Jeffrey Goldberg demonstrate that he has literally lied his way through life, like Bibi.
It is amazing that Goldberg got a pass for saying “Wieseltier’s relationship with The Atlantic has been largely honorary in nature,” when Leon Wieseltier finally got caught by #MeToo for doing what Goldberg and everyone else who kept him around knew he was doing. “The Atlantic has zero tolerance for workplace harassment of any kind,” Goldberg continued, especially if you get caught.
Jeffrey Goldberg forgot to mention that Wieseltier, in addition to several public joint appearances with Goldberg, was the primary person vetting the current owner of the Atlantic before the sale, stated in an internal memo reprinted by Eric Wemple in the Washington Post before the #MeToo allegations were made public. But of course picking the owner was "largely honorary." #MeToo supporters that subscribe to or write for The Atlantic are hypocrites.
Of course, as has been said many times, though serious this pales in comparison to the harm done by those like Goldberg who lied repeatedly about WMDs in Iraq, killing hundreds of thousands including US soldiers and destroying the US’s economy and reputation.
I looked at Corbyn's approval ratings the other day and the Zionist attacks on him are working. As bad as May's numbers are, Corbyn's are worse. Pro-Zionists, Tories and Blairites in the media are teaming up on him. Also, I googled Corbyn's name the other day and page after page there was nothing remotely related to British policy, just Israel's. Today he's managed to insert comments on transportation reform, which he needs to do more of.
The idea that Corbyn can 'put this to rest' by adopting the IHRA laws is a hustle that anyone following Israeli history can see as such. Sign this and it will all be over. The IHRA laws are themselves racist to the core, diametrically opposed to truth, free speech, and national sovereignty. As soon as you pass those laws then it's 'proof' that Corbyn and anyone who opposes endless wars against Muslims is an anti-Semite, and the media barrage would likely get worse. The media is going to keep this up until Corbyn goes down, and younger Brits are going to have to eventually choose between anti-war leaders or the media.
This and a good op-ed in Haaretz worry that this might be bad for Jews in Britain. First of all, the notion that devoted or potential Corbyn supporters are going to persecute Jews has no basis in reality. Second, what about everyone else? including victims of Western wars and British citizens who might benefit from their leaders focusing on their own problems.
