I’m so curious why you claim that these terms (positionality, conscientization) are not words. Perhaps you do not have a dictionary at hand, but since you are presumably reading this article online, I imagine that you do have access to google, which will quickly show you the error of your claims.
Looking up conscientization, I realize that I LOVE this word. “The process of developing a critical awareness of one’s social reality through reflection and action.” Isn’t that exactly what the authors are doing? Examining social realities through thoughtful examination. The world would be a much, much better place if we would all do a little more thinking.
Is it important for Jews to identify themselves as such in their support of the Palestinian movement? Oh hell yes! Anything to help break down the pernicious image of Other is a welcome chink in the wall of hatred that pertains not just to Jews/Israelis and Palestinians, but to similar us versus them conflicts throughout the world.
Reflect on that.
