This is beyond ridiculous and is more than a little opportunistic and exploitative. US cops have been brutalizing Black people since the very beginning of US policing, because brutalizing Black people *is* the beginning of US policing. They have always been an occupation police force. Imagining this is something new under the Voldemort (aka Emmanuel) administration erases the entire history of Black people in Chicago.
Chicago pigs are killing Black people via shooting, choking and tasering. Which of these tactics was learned from Israel? What part of anti-Black police brutality does not only pre-date Israeli training, but pre-date Israel? And since the US trains A LOT of Israeli police, does that mean that Israeli violence against Palestinians is due to that training? No one makes that argument because Zionist settler colonialism in Palestine is the source of anti-Palestinian violence even if technologies drift to and from it. The analysis is explicitly anti-material, it argues that the formation of anti-Black policing is not anti-Blackness, but Israeli training. What!?!? There are examples of Israeli training affecting the everyday policing in the US (like DC pigs keeping their lights flashing all the time) but the author doesn’t list any of them because the author doesn’t know anything about the topic.
And it does all this in the service of exploiting newly newsworthy Black protest against police brutality. It’s exploitative of Black liberation struggles, mislocates the source of anti-Black oppression and does so while obfuscating rather than enlightening. A list of adjacent things is not the same as a narrative of intertextuality. Shallow, exploitative analysis builds the same kind of organizing. And yet again we so-called solidarity activists decenter Black people from anti-Blackness and mislocate anti-Black oppression to wherever we feel it should be in order to further our goals.
