Ah so, Mooser. I beg to disagree. Not so much with your comment but, rather, with your choice of verb tenses: You say: ". . . compulsive vindictive (by) . . . radical right wing Jews, COULD LEAD to an increase in anti Semitism?”
"You've got it wrong, my friend. The anti-Semitism pendulum IS in motion and has-been accelerating for decades. And not just in the Middle East! The obscene plight of the Palestinians far exceeds anything written in Jimmy Carter's book, "Peace Not Apartheid"-- with no relief in sight and none anticipated under Netanyahu & Likud.
That which the world sees today is Israel's intransigence regarding good-faith peace negotiations and their insistence upon ethnic cleansing of all of what used to be the (de facto) State of Palestine . . . And frankly, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim, the world grows weary of this continuing physical, economic, and social abuse of Arabs by Israeli military, police and armed civilians, none of whom are ever held accountable. for any of their wanton actions. (Eg., USS Liberty)
Agreed, the world's Jews -- like the Kurds -- need "a safe place" to live, but the Palestinians ALSO need a safe place to live. The Arabs had had a relatively safe and peaceful homeland for two mil1lennia... until the militant Zionists, Hitler and the Partition of Palestine came along.
So get over it! At some point, Israel MUST back down and negotiate.
That time is NOW!!!
Were it only so easy! Countless UN resolutions (for the settlement of various International Law violations, primarily by our staunch ally, Israel) have been proposed and passed in The Security Council by nearly-unanimous votes .... .only to be vetoed by the USA. The Israeli's have a very efficient and active propaganda capability, and they have organized a network of dynamic, hardworking and efficient lobbying, fund raising and public relations groups here in the USA. And make no mistakes: these groups control the distribution of massive amounts of re-election funds that play a major roll in our domestic elections. (Eg., AIPAC), A Senator or House Member who votes counter to Israel' wishes or "best interests" will find that not only does he NOT receive Israeli-centric cash re-election donations, he will have a well-financed "pro-Israel opponent" running against him/her in the primary.
So, while we are at it, let's get a handle on what overseas money is affecting our elections. . . This, if you didn't notice, is a call for Congress to ' scuttle the Supreme Court's benighted Citizens United decision.
Don't hold your breath!
The Jews in Europe were pariahs ever since their Diaspora-dictated-departure from the Middle East in the distant past.
Omitting volumes of historical facts & records and proceeding directly to today's problems: I contend that if, as undeniably IS the case, The Holocaust was Hitler & the Nazis' solution to Germany's perennial "Jewish Problem", then the creation of Israel and the partition of Palestine were the-rest-of-Europes solutions to their centuries-old "Jewish Problem". Best stated, it went like this ... from behind closed doors, of course: "Let's all become Zionists; ship the Jews out of our country; and dump them on the Arabs," Then let's forget about them."
Unfortunately for all concerned, it didn't work out that way. The Palestinian themselves have always been somewhat of a Middle Eastern pariah, and if my history is correct, other Arabs want(ed) the Palestinians "out of sight and out of mind" as fervently a Europeans wanted the Jews out of Europe.
After WW II, both Jews and Palestinian Arabs rightfully needed a "safe place", and both saw their haven as "The Holy Land" over which Zionist Jews and less-organized Palestinians were already fighting and killing each other. Fairly stated, that land -- now Israel & occupied territories -- been the Palestinian's homeland for millennia.
It is a tragedy for which there can be no successful military solution; however, world leaders' intransigent egos will lead us nowhere else.
