Thank you for this statement of confidence in young people’s ability to understand complex and controversial issues. Too bad their elders — even so-called educators! — often object to telling the truth.
When (if) people read about the Sumud encampment and the Israeli army’s destruction of the camp, how will they understand it without all this background? If all they know is the mainstream narrative, how can they understand why the state of Israel would have the army attack a peaceful, nonviolent, interfaith community?
It is anti-democratic & anti-education when leaders and educators fight to keep people ignorant.
