Everyone’s talking about Israel’s crazy-disgusting treatment of the Turkish ambassador, his deliberate humiliation by the Israeli deputy foreign minister in a juvenile stunt. Weirdly, some in Israeli media are rationalizing it, per BBC:
"We wonder in Israel why the world relates to us with contempt," said a commentary in Ma’ariv – "and here is the answer: the pot calling the kettle black". In Ha’aretz, another commentator said the Israeli apology would have little effect and that "the damage has already been done". The most serious outcome of all, the writer said, was the "deep erosion in Turkish public opinion."
…However, there was defiance in some quarters of the Israeli press. A commentator in the leading daily Yediot Aharonot said the Foreign Ministry had "done well" to put a dent in Turkish "incitement" and its "anti-Semite policy". The writer said Israel had considerable leverage against Ankara, since "world Jewish capital" could boycott Turkey and exacerbate its "deteriorating" economic situation. Another writer in Ha’aretz agreed, saying Ayalon had, "albeit clumsily", risen "to restore the honour of the people".
"The days when Jews must cower in fear and fawn over those who spit in our faces are over," said an opinion piece in the Jerusalem Post. The writer felt that Ayalon had "nothing to apologize for" and had in fact showed "good, old-fashioned Jewish pride". – - -

What’s next – a chorus of “Juden, Juden, uber alles”?
Comeon, I aint feeling sorry for the Turks the way they deny they murdered over million Armenians and the fact they oppose the rights of the Kurds.
And when has Israel ever protested Turkish treatment of the Kurds and Armenians?
Israel has bent over backwards to suppress Armenian and Kurd history under the Turks. Ever look into the background of those now classical “young turks?” Sorry, you will have to go outside American class rooms.
BR: I aint feeling sorry for the Turks the way they deny they murdered over million Armenians and the fact they oppose the rights of the Kurds.
How convenient to remember that now. Israel’s been colluding with Turkey for years, afraid even to show a documentary on the Armenian genocide on Israeli TV, lest it jeopardise our crucial strategic alliance with the Turks (or so we were told).
Where was almighty “Jewish capital” (man, that expression sticks in my throat) then? Obviously, it’s not about the Turks or genocide or oppression or strategic alliances, but about some twisted idea of “Jewish pride”!
You mean the Armenian’ holocaust’ of 1915?
Philip are you insinuating that the “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion” is factual? or holds some basis in truth?
If so please elaborate or maybe some of the commenters could.
He isn’t insinuating any such thing. He is making an ironic comment.
Read the entry. It sounds conspiratorial. Cold. Inhuman. Robotic. Why? Because it’s essentially advocating as a strategy, that Zionists ingratiate themselves w/ people of authority/power/intellectual [mainstream] prestige to further the Zionist ideal.
That sure as hell sounds like an antisemitic conspiracy.
bds, are you insinuating phil is in agreement with everything he reports?
The writer said Israel had considerable leverage against Ankara, since “world Jewish capital” could boycott Turkey and exacerbate its “deteriorating” economic situation.
do you think the bbc is insinuating that the “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion” is factual? or holds some basis in truth? If so please elaborate . that would be big news if the bbc is in agreement w/the protocols!!!!!
to quote bdsnow: “ “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion” is factual”
this is more than an insinuation! let’s all discuss it!
annie, by quoting BSD, quoting Phil, are YOU now insinuating that the Protocols are legitimate???!!one
Cliff: “the Protocols are legitimate”
I’m confused.
The Protocols are completely true? OMG!!!
The BBC said so! I think Ayalon should call the British ambassador in for one of his little “chats”.
I don’t think we should give the impression we are supporting works like “The Protocols” Is “World Jewish Capital” enough to stop anti-semitic shows like the one played in Turkey? I have no idea! Probably not?
Turkey is a large military trading partner of Israel as I understand it and maybe that stands to change very soon.
The issue is, “Who will Israel trade with to replace Turkey?”
This may not be in the interest of the USA or NATO
I don’t understand this sentence. As in, it doesn’t make sense grammatically.
I have only seen a clip of the Turkish movie. It looks horrible – as in badly done.
Have you seen the movie, BSD? What’s it like? How is it antisemitic (it could surely be, but I’d like some analysis as to how)?

Israel is already shifting its trade to the larger market in India.
I believe Phil is echoing Theodor Herzl:
“When we sink, we become a revolutionary proletariat, the subordinate officers of all revolutionary parties; and at the same time, when we rise, there rises also our terrible power of the purse.”
“A commentator in the leading daily Yediot Aharonot said … Israel had considerable leverage against Ankara, since ‘world Jewish capital’ could boycott Turkey.”
I’d be careful that this wasn’t some false-flag provocateur writing in to that paper: If I’m not mistaken that exact same phraseology—”world Jewish capital”—was the one used by Hitler in talking about who had been responsible for Germany’s economic horrors after WWI and the same precise phrase used by legions of anti-semites since. *Exactly* the same.
That’s the amazing thing about Zionists.
What, they should threaten with “world hillbilly capital?” Only on the Beverly Hillbillies. Last time I looked there wasn’t much chance of finding Jethro at Goldman Sachs or at the Federal Reserve building.

MY COMMENT: The way things are going, it might not be very long before Israel’s “diplomats” start using the humiliation techniques pioneered by the IDF’s elite Golani Brigade. See the following Haaretz article/video.
FROM HAARETZ, 11/14/08: (excerpt) …Last week, soldiers from the Golani infantry brigade posted a video on YouTube depicting a blindfolded Palestinian being forced to repeat phrases in Hebrew as the soldiers manning the checkpoint laugh in the background.
One of the lines is: “Golani will bring you a log to stick up your ass.”
As the detainee repeats the words, the soldiers are heard laughing raucously in the background….

RE: “Elders schmelders–leading Israeli daily threatens to deploy ‘world Jewish capital’…”
MY COMMENT: I appears I should take The Protocols of the Elders of Zion more seriously! Apparently, it is highly regarded in Israel (and not as a work of fiction). I wonder if my local library has a copy.
RE: “I appears I should take…”
SHOULD HAVE READ: “It appears I should take…”
