Pastor John Hagee is a major financial supporter of Shurat Hadin, the Israel Law Center behind the legal campaign against the Gaza Freedom Flotilla

On June 24, Joseph Dana, a journalist who will traveling aboard the US boat to Gaza, discovered that an anonymous private legal complaint had been filed against the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. The complaint alleged that US boat, “The Audacity of Hope,” was not sea worthy and therefore was unfit to sail. In response, the harbor master in Athens, Greece, where the boat was docked, told the crew that he could not allow them to leave until the complaint was resolved.

Two days later, the Israel Law Center, Shurat Hadin, accepted responsibility for the complaint, which was essentially a baseless but startlingly successful exercise in legal harassment. Who is Shurat Hadin, and what is their agenda? According to the group’s website, Shurat Hadin is a Tel Aviv-based law center that specializes in lawsuits against “terrorists.” Its founder, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, describes herself in her bio as a “human rights activist.”

Darshan-Leitner began her harassment of the US boat to Gaza began weeks ago when it filed a civil action against “perceived supporters of Hamas” on behalf of Alan Bauer, an American doctor who was injured along with his son in a 2002 Jerusalem bombing attack. The action also threatened maritime insurance companies with legal consequences if they insured any of the boats involved in the flotilla.

I have discovered that a major donor to Shurat Hadin is the homophobic far-right Pastor John Hagee. In March 2010, I reported that Hagee appeared beside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a major rally in Jerusalem to denounce the two state solution and announce the financial contributions he and his supporters were making to Israeli organizations. Among the organizations Hagee said he had bankrolled was Shurat Hadin.

Who Is Hagee Funding In Israel? from Max Blumenthal on Vimeo.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican Senator John McCain repudiated Hagee’s endorsement as soon as Hagee’s statements describing the Holocaust as a fulfillment of divine prophecy came to light. Hagee has also asserted his belief that the anti-Christ was “partially Jewish, as was Adolph Hitler.” As the researcher and reporter Bruce Wilson has documented, Hagee preaches that the Jewish Rothschild family controls the US economy through the Federal Reserve and conspires to attack the American middle class by devaluing the dollar. In his 2006 book Jerusalem Countdown, Hagee claimed that a lineage of “half-breed Jews,” descended from Esau and which included Adolf Hitler, have persecuted full-blooded Jews throughout history. Hagee prophesied that God intended to exterminate that “half-breed Jew” line.

These statements — and countless more demonizing gays, Muslims, and anyone else Hagee deems to be allied with “the Enemy”  – have been widely reported. However, nothing Hagee says or does seems to deter the “human rights activist” Darshan-Leitner and Shurat Hadin from embracing him and benefiting from his riches.

But who is funding Hagee? When I investigated in the past, some maybe most of his big check donors were wealthy racist Jewish Zionists that were directing how he would spend the money. It was a form of money laundering that made it possible for hyperwealthy American Jewish Zionists to conceal their funding of various Zionist organizations. This sort of indirection also makes it possible to claim a tax deduction that might not otherwise be available.

US Aid to Israel ESF Cash Transfers: The US provides all ESF funds directly to the Israeli government without asking Israel to account for how the funds will be used. Some other aid recipients receive part of their ESF as cash transfers, but not under such flexible, unmonitored conditions. Much of the US Aid circulates back to the US to lobby Congress via AIPAC and non-profits like Hagee’s CUFI Citizen’s United for Israel, etc.

“Dinner at Pagoda, a Chinese restaurant on the Sea of Galilee…”

It’s a security measure. The terrorists will never find them there! And the Moishe pork is to die for!

I went to visit my company’s office in Tel Aviv a few years ago. The manager is from Brooklyn. He invited us to dinner at what he said was one of the top restaurants in Ramat Gan. He said the food was superb.

It was a “Max Brenner- the world’s best chocolate from Israel” experience.

Shurat Ha’Din are great. I have contributed to them in the past and will make my contribution now even larger. Supporting the flotilla is not supporting terrorism? We’ll see what the courts think.

So the Israelis will wait until a court ruling before executing any of the latest flotilla participants?

Oh, please. You was the name for the first time, Googled it, and decided it would be irritating to pose as a contributor. As usual, you are lying through your teeth, assuming you have any. I hear the IDF generals prefer them out.

Not supporting the flotilla is not supporting the relief of people under siege. It is actively denying people the right to life-saving medicine, food and materials for housing. That is illegal under any law you care to mention. Supporting the denial of human rights and the means to sustain life is terrorism, and Israel is practicing it every single day. Let’s see what the courts think of that.

Nice bedfellows you have there, eee.

Kids, this is what we really mean by pinkwashing. Zionists worked with Nazis, after all. It’s not like working with homophobic apocalypse Holocaust praying Hagee is much of a stretch.

Hagee and his followers are despicable racist low-life anti-semetic anti-religionists, and so are the Jewish groups in bed with them.

jewsonfirst.com have their number: concerning both of them. Great report on their site. The Republican Jewish Coalition is Hagee’s sponsor (one of them is his CUFI Director), and Hagee’s group is tied with the Yisrael Beiteinu party in Israel.

Perhaps the most depressing observation about Hagee is that he is held askance by the media and most politicians like McCain only for his anti-Semitic statements. Yet canny Bibi Netanyahu and Joe Lieberman view him as allies. Hagees’s anti-Arab and anti-Muslim views, which are much more severe and integral to his theology, are viewed indifferently by the media. Hagee’s theology is not motivated by hatred of Jews. He loves them–though they are but players on his eschatological stage. His anti-Semitic statements–which are not to be excused–should be viewed in the context of his wild, dispensationalist theology. In contrast, his anti-Arab positions on Israel/Palestine are as extreme as anyones, and we should be focused on the real suffering he causes by espousing these extreme positions.

The article mentions “a 2002 Jerusalem bombing attack”.

the writer shud have said “a suicide attacks by Palestinians in Jerusalem in 2002″. If you want to be credible, you must always state the whole truth, even if it does not help your cause.

a suicide attack is a bombing attack, it is not worse than a bombing attack. but since you’re lecturing us on credibility and the ‘whole truth’ can we assume this is the only issue you have w/accuracy wrt this article? we can assume this is your ‘whole truth’ complaint because otherwise it would be you lacking in credibility?

My replies to Annie have not been allowed by the moderator, i guess cos it was cynical, I hope that this one below, which is dry and factual will be allowed:

Annie, if you are replying to my comments, pls do not deflect the issue. What I meant it to flag the method by biased reporters to describe attacks against Israelis without mentioning the perpetrators cos they do not want to harm the Arab cause. For example:

“A tractor kills 2 in Jerusem” or “A rocket injures a child in Sderot” etc.

I am biased towards Israel and the West, but whenever I present my case, I present the whole truth, not only what is convenient. Israel is not blameless, it has many faults, and if an idiotic Jewish settler massacres Arabs, this shud be headlined “Jewish settler massacres unarmed Arabs”, not “Worshippers killed in a shootout”.

Just like, by the way, – a cross border riot shud not be headlined as “Israel kills unarmed protesters in the Golan”, but rather “Arabs crossing the blue line are shot at by Israel” – a neutral and FULL description of the incident.

your posts are a deflection of the issue asherpat. the topic of the post is not how the plaintif was injured. it’s kind of a no brainer, since he is suing “perceived supporters of Hamas” his perpetrators were palestinian. you’re diverting and trying to highjack the thread claiming it is somehow dishonest because it’s not going off on some tangent wrt details of this man’s attack back in 2002. the chance any of the members of the flotilla were in anyway connected to this bombing is zilch. you might as well drag out kevin bacon.

        enough.

kudos to the mods for doing thier job and i would highly recommend any more of your diversions on this thread be censored. stay on topic if you want your comments to appear. we all get your (diversionary) point by now.
