Boy this is fun! This is the latest from Bill Kristol’s group, the Emergency Committee for Israel. “Obama administration is treating Israel like a punching bag” and we’re not going to take it anymore. When are they going to take out a full-page ad against Tom Friedman for saying the Congress is bought and paid for by the Israel lobby? Notice the destinations for the ads: Palm Beach, Las Vegas, NY, Variety. The hard core! And notice Kristol’s weird locution: the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community… Hmm. Is that a shot across J Street’s bow, and other Jews? Whoopie.

Punching Bag ad
Today the Emergency Committee for Israel published a full-page ad in five newspapers that calls on the Obama administration to stop treating Israel like a punching bag. The ad appears in the New York Times, the Miami Herald, the Palm Beach Post, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and Variety.
The ad details the past month of Obama administration attacks on Israel: President Obama caught trashing the Israeli prime minister at the G20 summit; Defense Secretary Leon Panetta blaming Israel for the failure of talks with the Palestinians; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton comparing Israel to Iran; and the U.S. ambassador to Belgium declaring that Muslim anti-Semitism is Israel’s fault.
ECI chair William Kristol said: “The Obama administration has been using Israel as a punching bag. The pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community is punching back.”
Maybe a double edged sword ?
Highlighting the points in this add may actually work backward!!! How many Americans are so blinded by the lobby that they won’t read this attacks against their own leaders and see it as an attack on them. Kristol must be getting old and senile, even his message is poorly contrued… Maybe its the beginning of the end to this old neocon…
Did anyone notice that if you look up the article mentioned in the third bullet point (“Clinton got it badly wrong: Israel isn’t Iran…”), and actually read it, it’s a snarky article that calls Israel out on its outrageous behavior in ways even worse than the Obama Administration could ever dream of? For example, it says:
“First, Iran isn’t considered a democracy: It openly and proudly adopted a system of government in which a religious scholar is the supreme leader. Israel, in contrast, wears a facade of democracy even as a select group of religious scholars who are only ostensibly committed to the law dictate the state’s way of life.”
And:
“Israel is neither Iran nor Egypt, because it won’t face the threat of sanctions for undermining human rights, freedom of the press, the status of women or nongovernmental organizations.”
And:
“Clinton’s remarks are a clear warning sign, the last crash barrier before the final descent to the bottom of the slippery slope. But like in Iran and Egypt, this intervention is seen in Israel as a hostile act. After all, Israel is a mature, independent country, and it is entitled to decide for itself what kind of democracy best suits it – even if it is a suicidal democracy.”
Who the hell does these guys’ fact checking? Oh wait…
Wait a second. If it’s all about Christian Zionists and their support for Israel, why is this ad appearing in places where not many Christian Zionists live?
Somebody help me out here
Lets’s get a Show on the Road.
The EmergencyVehicle Truck, with the blue-red lights on , and a few “doctors” on the board, will travel in your area to give you some not-so-cheap shots of “their” Truth.
Beware. Run and hide.
Im starting my own emergency committee. Its the “Emergency Committee on getting Bill Kristol to shut the F up”
But seriously, good for Bill. Kristol is as partisan as they come, he makes it a “right wing issue” – most people find that guy repugnant anyway, so something he advocates for this strongly is going to be painted with the same brush.
