Former AIPAC lobbyist assumes weighty mantle (and travel budget) of US Special Envoy on anti-Semitism

This sums up the political use of anti-Semitism. The new State Department Envoy on anti-Semitism is former AIPAC lobbyist Ira Forman, a guy whose entire career has been dedicated to advancing the policies of the Israeli government, at AIPAC and then as head of the National Jewish Democratic Council, where he worked to ensure that Democrats were more hawkish on Israel than Republicans.

And why is there a Special Envoy on anti-Semitism? Why is that the one form of hate granted a special post at the State Department? You know why: because the lobby wanted it. And it gets to place its ex-lobbyist in it.

What does the Special Envoy do? He does the same thing that David Harris of the American Jewish Committee does (except Harris doesn’t do it on the taxpayers’ dime). He travels around the world, kibitzes with various world leaders, stays in fancy hotels, eats in great restaurants, goes on great tours and then, every now and then, admonishes his hosts to be more vigilant about anti-Semitism (which, nowadays, usually means criticism of Israeli policies– demonizing Israel, delegitimizing it, or applying a double standard). Then he issues a report (an official State Department report!) that announces that anti-Semitism is on the rise.

To what purpose: To buttress the case for standing with the Israeli government, no matter what it does. In other words, the lobby has succeeded in creating one more “pro-Israel” organization, headed by another organizational hack, but housing it in the State Department where it can do what these organizations usually do (nothing except help crush opposition to Israeli government policies) but with the imprimatur of the State Department and paid for by taxpayers!

LOL…how much more ridiculous can it get? The US sends a zionist supremist around the world to tell non Jewish racist and governments not to hate Jewish and Israeli racist and governments.
Only in the world of political donations and the cult of zion does this make sense.
Suppose some poll said France, Holland, whoever, was 50,60, 90% anti semitic…what would we do about it…bomb them, sanction them, what exactly?

I hope he goes after the bigots in the furry hats who are persecuting the women of the wall.

The state departments official definition of antisemitism must have been covered here at MW but I just noticed it recently. It is worth reminding ourselves of what it is:

    link to state.gov

First they give a general definition of antisemitism followed with some examples, among others they include:

    Contemporary Examples of Anti-Semitism

Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interest of their own nations.

What is Anti-Semitism Relative to Israel?
EXAMPLES of the ways in which anti-Semitism manifests itself with regard to the state of Israel, taking into account the overall context could include:

    DEMONIZE ISRAEL:

Using the symbols and images associated with classic anti-Semitism to characterize Israel or Israelis
Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis
Blaming Israel for all inter-religious or political tensions
    DOUBLE STANDARD FOR ISRAEL:

Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation
Multilateral organizations focusing on Israel only for peace or human rights investigations
    DELEGITIMIZE ISRAEL:

Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, and denying Israel the right to exist
However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti-Semitic.

This, it seems to me, is very close to an official US government definition of what constitutes hate speech. MJ must have noticed that “Israel firster” falls within one of the examples. Hate speech in US law can have serious criminal repercussions. So now AIPAC has their man heading that office.

    • Donald says:

Well that’s a pretty depressing load of BS. I didn’t know the US government was officially endorsing this tripe.

“Denying Israel the right to exist”–in this context they obviously mean “as a Jewish state”, and they think that if you deny this you’re an anti-semite. This means that the US government is tacitly endorsing the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, which is how Israel came to exist as a Jewish state.

Their definition of anti-semitism when closely examined turns out to be anti-Palestinian racism.

      • American says:

        Donald,

I think you’d be the perfect person to lay out examples of Anti Gentlism, Anti Chrsitanism, Anti Arabism, Anti Islamism and submit it to the State Department of Anti Semitism.
In fact we should insist on closing the office of Anti Semitism on the grounds it itself is racist in excluding Jewish racism and other racist Antis and set up one Government Department in charge of all Antism.

    • American says:

Thinking about these definitions…..they are very loose…leave just about anything at all said open to being called anti semitic.
I don’t think the Zionist Israel Gestapo has a prayer in hell of enforcing it on the public though.
See, I just violated their anti semitism definition rules….lol

    • Rusty Pipes says:

That’s from the EUMC’s “Working” Definition of Anti-Semitism, which was basically drafted by the AJC. Even though the Israel Lobby pushed hard for its adoption, under Condi Rice, State wouldn’t adopt it. As soon as Hillary took the job, State adopted it (any little gesture to court potential 2016 major donors helps). Ironically, even the EU has backed away from its “working” definition.

    • RoHa says:

“Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as a collective—especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.”

      Here’s an anti-Semite for you.
      link to latimes.com

“Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, and denying Israel the right to exist”

      That’s me, then.

      • Woody Tanaka says:

        “That’s me, then.”

Me, too. This whole thing is just an exercise of that which Orwell talked about: control the language and you control thought. And that’s what the zionists are interested in: controlling thought so that criticism of their little criminal enterprise is literally unthinkable.

  4. seafoid says:

“Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, and denying Israel the right to exist”

Israel has no right to exist without the rights of Palestinians to determine their own future. Nobody needs the Jewish Sparta.

  5. Envoy on Anitsemitism? Rather Israeli Envoy.
Where is the envoy on islamophobia or racism in general for that matter?
No this “envoy” is to push pro-israel views.

  6. Cliff says:

This is a perfect example of the ‘new’ anti-semitism b.s.

We are around the world killing Arabs and Muslims along with our Zionist ally. Yet, we have a special little seat for antisemitism at the White House. Why? There is no antisemitism epidemic in the US (or the WORLD for that matter).

Jews aren’t being killing in the thousands anywhere. In fact, Israel has killed 1000+ Palestinian CHILDREN since the 2nd Intifada. Palestinian militants have killed around 1000 TOTAL Israelis.

This is the power of the Lobby at work and Jewish nationalism. Nothing to do with antisemitism and everything to do with enforcing the pro-Israel narrative.

  7. Woody Tanaka says:

Hmmm, I wonder: does the former slave-holding, Jim-Crow-enforcing, Japanese-interring government of the US of A have a Special Envoy on Racism??? Seems like it would be the kind of problem that the USA should be particularly concerned about.

  8. braciole says:

I’d be interested to know if any “gentiles” were considered for this position or does one have to be Jewish to prosletyse against anti-Semitism. Furthermore, one has to wonder if this envoy will attempt to pressure the rabid anti-Semites that rule many of the GCC countries into making anti-Semitism a “hate crime”? Or, as a Zionist will he pander to the Israeli government and stick to condemning countries that oppose the racist policies of the Israeli government?

  9. Ecru says:

“…anti-Semitism…which, nowadays, usually means criticism of Israeli policies…”

Actually I think the new definition of anti-Semitism (as approved by the official Hasbara-English dictionary) is anything from a dislike for chopped liver on up.

It’s a complete joke. To the extent that whenever I hear the charge all I can do these days is laugh at it and the person invoking it.

  10. radkelt says:

Mr. Forman will also be responsible for ensuring that all State Dept. offices
prominently display the flag of Israel.

  11. chinese box says:

Must be nice to move seamlessly through the revolving door from a cushy job at AIPAC to a fluffy government sinecure.

I’m still not understanding how Israel/Nazi comparisons are specifically anti-semitic. Seems more like just a bad analogy to me.

  12. just says:

This is disgusting. Aren’t there already enough of these ‘envoys’ in our own government?

  13. American says:

Only have one other thing to say about censorship by government and any who seek to control.

‘Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
    John F. Kennedy

People are the same all over the world, they can only be pushed so far and no further….it’s just sad that in democracies more so than in non democracies people generally wait till the proverbial nothing left to lose before they rebel.

  14. MarkF says:

I assume they’ve been targeting the state dept for a while. The neocons regularly spout nonsense about the “arabists” at the state dept.

  15. piotr says:

“Then he issues a report (an official State Department report!) that announces that anti-Semitism is on the rise.”

I got a good motto for all professional Zionists or those who are doing anti-anti-Semitism for living: Semper simpering.
