Jewish Israeli activists call for Palestinian right of return, hang portraits of protesters murdered in Gaza on Apartheid Wall

Activism

The following press release was sent to Mondoweiss regarding two actions in support of the right of return that were taken by Jewish groups in Israel today:

At 6 AM today, an anonymous group of Israeli-Jewish activists, calling themselves “RETURN” hung photos of the martyrs of the Great Return March on the Gaza Apartheid Fence. The protest was done against Israel’s extrajudicial killings of protesters during the Great Return March, including journalists, medics and unarmed demonstrators.

The action was inspired by a call from the #GreatReturnMarch in Gaza for international solidarity. The RETURN activists hung portraits of Gazans murdered by Israeli forces, including the now-iconic portrait of the young medic, Razan Al Najjar. Earlier this week, Gazan professor Haider Eid wrote, “the slogan of the Great March of Return is “I want to go home.” Seventy percent of Palestinians in Gaza are refugees from cities and towns in Israel… It’s time for the world to stand up and act– to impose sanctions on Israeli industries until Palestinians are granted freedom, civil rights, and justice.

One of the activists of RETURN stated, “The Palestinians besieged in Gaza are marching home, back to the villages and cities from which they were expelled. They are marching out of the desert that Israel has transformed Gaza into and because of this, the Israeli Occupying army is murdering them in cold blood. The courage and sacrifice of these people demand of us all to stand up and ensure an end to Israeli impunity. Apartheid must end and we are the ones who must end it.”

Later this morning “Israeli Jews in Support of Palestinian Return” posted posters of Akhmad Al-‘Adinie whos family was expelled from Bir As-Saba and ‘Abd Al-Qadr Al-Khawajry whos family was expelled from Bureir – Both were murdered by Israeli soldiers as they tried to return to their homes. The posters where posted near the Mosque of Bir AsSaba, in honor of their persistence and devotion. The group calls for the return of all the Palestinian refugees in Gaza and elsewhere.

They got right up to the fence without being shot. Bet that won’t last long.

“Akhmad Al-‘Adinie whos family was expelled from Bir As-Saba ”

The house was empty by the time Goldilocks_S, a left wing teacher of hasbara, rolled up.

      Expelled? Possibly.

His family probably fled the battle zone. In the Fall of 1948, the Egyptian forces in Beersheba consisted of a reinforced 1st Battalion, totaling about 500 soldiers, aided by mortars and artillery.
A pitched battle for the city was waged, and the Israeli army prevailed.

      But, hey. It’s your narrative.

The fact that a refugee is not allowed to return makes it an expulsion in any case even if he wasn’t forced to leave.

Never thought I would see the day when I agreed with something that Michael Howard said or did.

A pleasant surprise. Very unusual to see him come out of his coffin in the daytime.

“Netanyahu told Howard that the methods he proposed had been tried, and claimed: “Hamas wanted the Jews to kill more. Their goal was to have as many casualties. Our goal was to minimise casualties.”

He said he would be the first to use non-lethal means if they could be found, and insisted he was exploring other options for the future.”

Non-lethal means aren’t in a laboratory waiting to be discovered FFS. Stop killing people, simple. “Hamas” wanted the Jews to kill more”? Netanyahoo, confronted by a simple question can only reply with what projecting what has been the zionist strategy for 100 years on khamas.

“Our goal was to minimize casualties”. That sounds familiar. Does he actually think anyone believes his lies?

On the Breaking the Silence website I found an interview with Major General Haim Cohen, who commands the southernmost sector of the Gaza border. The interview was originally broadcast on the Galatz military radio station. He talks about relying primarily on “Alpha” means, which means supposedly non-lethal weapons for “riot control”. That includes tear gas but he also mentions using sonic weapons. These weapons, also called acoustic weapons, use sound to injure, incapacitate, or kill opponents. For example, the LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) Sound Cannon, developed by the San Diego-based LRAD Corporation, blasts pain-inducing tones at various volumes. It can be hand-held or mounted on a vehicle. I reckon that the Gaza border confrontation provides the Israelis with a heaven-sent opportunity to field test such new weapons.

Am I to understand that Israelis can walk right up to the Gaza fence and do stuff like this, but that Palestinians in the Gaza prison cannot approach to within 50 or 100 or whatever meters of the fence without serious consequences?

I saw a video of an Israeli woman driving toward the fence and being stopped by soldiers and blocked from going any further. She was told that she was in a closed military zone. Perhaps the zone is not always enforced and/or does not extend the entire length of the border.

In 2003 over 500 Jews publicly supported the Palestinian Right to Return http://www.thestruggle.org/jr2r.htm At the time it was considered very daring. In 2016 all six hundred or so members of Jewish Voice for Peace stood up at the Baltimore conference and supported the Right to Return.

Who is making the guns that are shooting down the Palestinians in Gaza? It appears that Sturm, Ruger, Co. of Fairfield, CT is sending sniper rifles to Israel. See https://www.nhregister.com/opinion/article/Forum-Say-it-ain-t-so-Chris-Killoy-12945467.php

“As more celebrities and public figures follow their conscience and stand with our struggle for freedom, justice and equality, the scales are tipping for Palestinian rights.”
