‘J Street’ Leader Says 2-State Solution Is Approaching Its ‘Sell-By Date’

Only in England. Daniel Levy, who is on J Street's advisory board, writes in the Guardian that on the watch of the next president, the two-state solution is either realized or passes its "sell-by date." The piece reflects disgust with the settlements and the unending peace process (a mood that Henry Siegman established a year ago) and raises the question: If the two-state solution fails in the next four years, how many lib-left Jews will come round to the Palestinian solidarity camp and call for a one-state solution? Myself I'm for two states, but who has patience for the prevarication?

By the way, Phil, did you make your tax free donation to the settlements?

The sell-by date is a bad reference.

One can eat cereal that is past its sell-by date, and without risk. Its stale is all, and can be heated in a toaster over to freshen up.

Its lost some nutrients and will never taste original.

But, its not dead. Death is irreversible. Most sickness is not.

Health is a better model for the relationship between people or peoples.

The two state solution is never going to happen. Israel (and the US) have worked diligently to assure it would never happen.

You reap what you sow. Now the only solution is a one state solution. The question is whether it will end like South Africa's apartheid regime ended, with a new foundation based on a real democracy, or like Algeria, with all the colonial invaders forced to leave.

While I hope for the former, I suspect the increasingly Nazi-like behavior of the Israelis will lead to the latter. Or a nuclear war.

    Brilliant headline! Phil.

Now, what are we to think, if not even JStreet's Daniel Levy satisfies our dear Richard's desire for balanced "summerizations" in the larger I/P context?

"More likely, Rice will need to hand over a work that is not only in progress but also in need of major repair. A new administration of either political stripe will likely express commitment to continuing negotiations and pursuing peace, but they should be warned that if achieving a two-state solution is still the goal, then an 'A' for effort will not be enough this time. It is not an alarmist or exaggerated claim to suggest that on the watch of the next US president the two-state solution will either finally be realised or have definitively passed its sell-by date."

How can anyone actually want a state that is populated by one class of citizen.

who would call for an all white u.s.of a….or an all christian u.s of a.

who would not be in a uproar over an all muslim state in the middle east, not allowing christians or jews or any other expression of faith.

how about an all black nation by mandate or an all white nation by mandate.

what the hell is it about the jews that makes them try to jam down the throat of the watching world an only jewish state.

a one religion state could never be justified unless the jews did it.
a one race state would never be justified unless the jews were asking for one (israel).

    an only mongolian state?
    an only black state?
    an only white nation?

where the frig can anyone make the argument for the validation of this type of nation in the supposed diversity era.

what would a jewish lawyer say to the awaiting court of popular opinion to validate the argument of an all jewish state.

because were different…were the chose people….what exactly makes this a valid argument.

only by intimidation and by force can this ever have lasted as long as it has.

    patria or muerte venceremos.
