‘It’s a sin’ –Some in Wales are willing to be arrested to protest sales of goods from West Bank lands denuded of ancient olive groves
Posted in BDS, Israel/Palestine, Settlers/Colonists

As usual with these types of things posted here, this was a confused report. The lady being arrrested says she is against Tesco selling things from the "occupied West Bank" but then she says everything Israeli should be boycotted. In any event, the other shoppers there didn't seem very interested.
In reality, there still are some Brits who can't get over the fact that we Israelis threw them out of here some 60+ years ago. I guess they had better get used to it.
But Israel is merciful and magnanimous in Nablus, West Bank. It truly is an enlighted occupation:
Checkpoint at Beit Iba west of Nablus will be removed, Israeli officials announced Sunday, and replaced by a large iron gate two kilometers away.
The removal of the Beit Iba checkpoint will reduce [in Nablus area] the number of manned zones to 12, but will increase the number of road blocks and road gates to 13 and 27 respectively. (..)
According to both the GOP statement and what Nablus Governor Jamal Muheisin was told by Israeli authorities, the new gate will be open between 5am and midnight, and Palestinians will no longer need special permits to travel on the road connecting several villages to Nablus city center.
In addition, Israeli forces announced the addition of an extra lane for vehicles at the Huwwara checkpoint, and the free passage of doctors and journalists without permits.
Previously, Palestinians under the age of 50 (men) and 35 (women) were unable to leave Nablus by the main road without permits from the Israeli military. Only a handful of cars were permitted to drive through the checkpoint. In January, with the opening of a new checkpoint at Huwwara, Israeli authorities announced that they would allow men and women over 50/35 to drive their cars through the checkpoint without special permits.
The wait time for drivers remains long, an average of 1-3 hours.
But Hey, its progress
That protest took place a few months back, actually.
It's a crying disgrace that so many supermarkets in Britain still sell these illicitly produced goods. Would they sell products produced on land stolen by… I dunno… the Turks? Let alone the French? The Dutch?
Most of our unsuspecting public couldn't find the West Bank on a map if their life depended on it and that's how rather laudable protest is really a non-issue. For now…
The Beeb didn't spend a single second on the Viva Palestine convoy either, not one second.
Gert – Do you mean that the British don't sell Turkish products even though Turkey occupies parts of Kurdistan and has armed forays into the Iraqi part of Kurdistan? Do you mean that the British don't sell British goods when they still occupy part of Ireland and hold colonial sway over many countries, including Australia. And speaking of Australia, do you mean that the British don't sell Australian products even though the entire apartheid Australian occupation of aboriginal lands is a horror show and they should withdraw to England immediately?
The Beeb is a tool of the Hamas – even Hamas can't get upset about goods from the West Bank. After all, they buy and use them because they're not so productive in areas that don't involve bomb belts and rocket fire.
Gert only cares if it hurts jews. It is her goal in life.
Do the British sell Chinese goods in spite of its appalling human rights record (e.g. Tibet)? Who doesn't?
@Harcourt Fenton
I understand your sympathy with the Kurds. They are after all living next door to AshkeNAZI place of origin. But the "occupation" has been going on since year 1534 so it's rather difficult to reverse the integration.The West had the opportunity to create an independent Kurdistan in 1922 after WWl,but lack of natural resources made that idea less attractive.
Your analogy with the British occupation of N. Ireland is valid, but that took place before the Fourth Geneva Convention was signed.
@bar_kochba132
True, Chinese leaders have always treated their subjects inhumane and with contempt, and Jews have always been the forefront in the struggle for individual freedom and human rights. So it's sad to witness that you are willing to stoop to their level in defence of Zionism. Again an evidence of zionism's antisemitic nature.
Hasbara talking point No. 4 "everyone sucks".
