American Arab organization joins battle against tax-deductible-status of ‘charities’ helping illegal settlements

Good news. The American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee has apparently filed federal complaints against the tax-free status of "charities" raising money for the colonists of the West Bank. An ADC spokesman tells me that they're not discussing their investigation right now, but they have turned up "preliminary evidence that funds were used by organizations for activities that were outside their scope and mission." Like if they said they were promoting peace, and the money went to weapons.
This is an issue we have pushed on this site, with our investigation of the Central Fund of Israel, which has raised tax-deductible moneys for the "urgent security needs" of the colonists.
Now David Ignatius of the Washington Post and Jeffrey Goldberg have joined the battle. Good for them! This is an issue on which a rare political combination can take place, across traditional divides. Michael Walzer has lately called for the U.S. to "defeat" the settler movement. What better way than to end the American funding for these illegal activities. Not just the tax-deductible status, not just the weapons--stop the flow of money to support colonies.

  1. The US Treasury Department, DOJ and New York prosecutors always rebuff calls to prosecute money laundering for illegal settlements.

In 1986 Americans and Palestinians challenged the 501 c 3 status of the WZO, Jewish National Fund, United Israel Appeal, United Jewish Appeal, etc.

Though some had property stolen by settlers, Judge Jackson of the DC District Court threw them out for lack of "standing". Even though US criminal statutes forbid US funded expeditions against nations with which we are at peace.

Think about how embedded Zionists are into the legal and financial system (such as the Morganthau nexus):

Robert would never prosecute a case against Israel lobby crime, while at treasury, his brother actually facilitated the movement of Irgun terrorists.

    No justice, no peace.

Its interesting how Arab American organizations will only get involved if Arabs are the victims. They will not address the crimes that arabs have committed. I would the AADC to address Darfur and the Arab slave trade-which is still going on today as well as the Israeli occupation.

  3. Janey says:

Arab Americans will never acknowledge crimes that have been committed by arabs.

What on earth do you expect, janey? Jewish organisations defend Jews and do not criticise them, as a general rule. Why should Arab organisations be any different? You are a new low in trolls for this site, you really are.

  6. Shafiq says:

Actually Janey, both the ADC and CAIR have called for violence to end in Darfur, and called for the US government to do more to pressure Omar Bashir into stopping the genocide.

Many Arab Americans also privately despair at the Arab-League's reaction to the ICC warrant.

No need to cite Ma'an News, or to put an "apparently" at the top of this report – the ADC put out a press release on March 27 to announce that it has filed these complaints with the Treasury Department – see link to adc.org

ILA – is the 1986 case reported?
