I admire Rabbi Weiss a great deal. He is a remarkably courageous man. Why don't you interview him, Phil? You are both anti-Zionist, yet you come to the issue from completely different sides of Judaism. I think your blog needs a discussion of the theological objections to Zionism.
Did you see the interview by Bill Maher in "religulous"?
Bill Maher is a smart, funny guy but he's a Zionist. He defends murderous, militaristic, apartheid "Israel" and mocks Jews who refused to abandon Judaism in favor of the blasphemous Zionist religion.

If Phil interviewed Rabbi Weiss comprehensively (not just the anti-Zionism element), most likely he would never refer to him again. (Maybe I'm wrong.) For example, Phil might want to ask the rabbi his impressions of inter-marriage.
That could be but Phil has made a good point previously in saying that political change happens when coalitions are formed between "strange bedfellows." Like Menachem Begin and Jerry Fallwell, for instance. I don't think they had a whole lot in common either outside of their philo-Zionism.
Initially, all Begin and Falwell had was their anti-homosexualism. That''s how Begin figured he could nab Falwell's imaginationm and turn Falwell into a Zionist.
He sure hates Christians, especially Catholics–makes a viscious crack against them every chance he gets–you can take that to his bank; ditto, he avoids attacking Israel and Jews like the plague. If I recall correctly, one of his parents is from a Catholic background. Not that the Christians don't deserve his attacks, just that they are verbally clubbed while his chosen people are revered–he attacks all (once) sacred cows except Israel and Jewish activity generally. I remember once he had a guest, a former US military inspector who's well-known name I forget–when, during the conversation the guest blasted Israel, Maher looked completely astonished, his usual smirking self dumbfounded–even though what the guest said should have been common knowledge to Maher.

Huckabee says God allows such suffering of innocent babes, etc–because God doesn't want humans to be deprived of free choice to have faith, or not. Bill must have forgotten his childhood catechism on free will. He makes no further rejoinder. I was thinking what if Jeffrey Dahmer did what he did just to give his parents the free will to decided whether to love him or not?

Jon, I believe there is a special on sheets and bed-linens at K-Mart. Their Martha Stewart line is good, solid, reasonably priced stuff. Be sure to get a plastic cover for the mattress, and have plenty of towels and spare sheets on hand. What you will do about this peeing-in-fear compulsion at work will have to be addressed by a safety expert, all those electrical cords.

What debate? Maher is an israel-firster through and through. He'd not have his own show were that not the case. So any meaningful debate is precluded before it can begin.

I recall a Maher show with Janeane Garofalo who is a bit odd but is a well informed critic of Zionism. Seems Maher was none-too-pleased with her anti-zionism. I think he attacked Michael Scheuer also when he appeared on the show.
