Ha'aretz is reporting that a ministerial panel has decided that a bill spearheaded by Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beitenu party to outlaw public commemoration of the Nakba in Israel can move on to the Knesset and cabinet for a vote. If the bill is passed, someone caught commemorating the Nakba could face up to three years in prison. MK Alex Miller, who introduced the bill, explained, "Every democratic country has the right to defend
itself, and that's exactly what the Israeli government has chosen to do
today."
Clearly not everyone in Israel agrees. Hadash Chairman Mohammed Barakeh stated the obvious, "Commemoration of the Nakba, which will continue regardless of this
bill, does not represent a threat to Israel's existence. It is a way to
mend past injuries inflicted upon the Palestinian people." And Israeli journalist Noam Sheizaf has a great post on it over on his blog. He sums it up, "the government of Israel has decided to make life easier for those who claim it is an Apartheid state (or just a Fascist one)."

It's the fact that only Lieberman's party can appeal to and gain the loyalty of Russian secular Jews and semi-Jews that allows it to play these outrageous fascist cards, isn't it? And of course the Likud is carrying them on its back, it has no choice electorally. 'Democracy' in the form of party politics has not done Israel much good in the last few decades, has it?
I in your country Native Americans would riot and attack other Americans for stealing their country they would end up in jail.
Actually, in our country (that's the prom ised land, for you), the Indians usually mourn during Thanksgiving. And some non-Indians join them in so mourning the losses they experienced. And many other non-Indians understand how the Indians feel all too well. Sure they still eat the darn turkey and get together because it's an official holiday. But hardly anyone celebrates Thanksgiving feast for what it's supposed to be, Strangely enough, most people ask forgiveness on that day. Not enough to bring the lost great nations back to life. But it's something. Israelis could do the same. At least have the decency of having a few moments of silence in attonement for what the zionist founders have done.
This bill must be the best example we have for how far the Israeli people have diverged from the values that so many Americans share. I have been following the comments section in Haaretz on this news. Israelis have absolutely no idea what we will tolerate. The US really is moving towards a mutlicultural society. The Israeli people have no idea what that means. It seems obvious that Israelis believe that the Palestinians must not only accept that they have been militarily defeated but that they must also now reject their own history. Of course acceptance of the State of Israel on their part is acceptance of their loss. But it is asking too much that they deny their own history. Those who control the Israeli political discourse today are sadists that have few historical precedents. I just hope that the American people will see what is involved in this "special relationship" with Israel. This story needs more exposure. Let the Hasbara come forth and explain this one.
Hey! It's Avigdor's own brand of holocaust denial! Censor that thought!
Yes, some of the comments are ridiculous. One in particular stated that if an American denounced the 4th of July, he/she would be imprisoned for treason! All right, a throwdown–I hereby denounce the 4th of July, come and get me! Also, the argument is frequently made that when the US gives back Texas and California to Mexico, only then do Americans have the moral sanding to demand that Israel vacate the OT. As odious as that conquest may have been, the residents of the annexed areas were given US citizenship from day one. Actually, that sounds like the one state solution.
The Arabs invaded the whole region. It's time for them to go back to Arabia.
Attempting to control the historical discussion is a common characteristic of ethnic Ashkenazi communism and Zionism. I discuss the disconnect between reality and Jewish Zionist fantasy in: Khaleej Times: Israel Steals Palestinian Heritage, History. Because of Lieberman's attempt to suppress history, it is particularly important to put the Dead Sea Scrolls in the hands of a custodian dedicated to preserving Palestinian cultural property and not to disseminating Zionist lies, propaganda, and hasbarah.
Well, actually in the 1970's at Wounded Knee the Native American protest was sustained by the USA MSM; virtually all citizens paying attention fully supported the Native Americans, not the US government or local non-native governmental agencies and towns.
Don't you just hate it when the Jews control the debate through the exclusive use of facts?
