‘Mondoweiss’ will be down over the next day

We're getting a facelift, so we might be down for portions of the next day. Apologies to our readers. We'll try to get back on the case within a day. Go fishing!

RE: "Mondoweiss' will be down over the next day" PHIL(L): First you abruptly discontinue our daily Kafka, and now you pull this stunt! I'm lucky* to still* be alive* after being forced to go 'cold turkey' on Kafka. I resent such shabby treatment. My quitting you to become Richard Silverstein's Most Devoted Acolyte in no way justifies your vindictiveness! Rest assured, you will be hearing from my lawyers! * these might be subject to debate(s) PS. Phil(l), you are an utter failure as an Assimilationist!

Well face it. American Politicians are run by international finance. They can't escape the hand of Rothschild. Niall Fergusson ha a video on the Rothschild house and the American civil war. Provides a good insight into global banking cartels.

There is an important discussion happening in the Orthodox world as we speak. Rabbi Maryles posted a courageous blog defending the Obama position. Most of the responses have been very negative. These are intelligent, non rabbinical Orthodox Jews, educated and mostly conservative. These people are representative of an important segment of Jewish opinion, and are very relevant to the overall conversation. Most new immigrants to Israel are coming from the Orthodox rank and file.

Here is an interesting fact for you – Twitterers Paid To Spread Israeli Propaganda By Jonathan Cook 21 July, 2009 Countercurrents.org "In an interview this month with the Calcalist, an Israeli business newspaper, Mr Shturman, the deputy director of the ministry’s hasbara department, admitted his team would be working undercover. “Our people will not say: ‘Hello, I am from the hasbara department of the Israeli foreign ministry and I want to tell you the following.’ Nor will they necessarily identify themselves as Israelis,” he said. “They will speak as net-surfers and as citizens, and will write responses that will look personal but will be based on a prepared list of messages that the foreign ministry developed.” ———– A nation founded on deception and deceit Posted On Angry Arab Comments Section – http://www.countercurrents.org/cook210709.htm Original Article – http://www.countercurrents.org/cook210709.htm

RE: "We'll try to get back on the case within a day. Go fishing!" A GREAT ARTICLE: "Israel and the Nutbar Factor", by Justin Raimondo, 07/22/09 (EXCERPT) …What we are witnessing in Israel today is the degeneration of a once liberal democracy into a militaristic theocracy, one armed with nuclear weapons – and quite conceivably willing to use them against those they consider less than fully human. And if that doesn’t scare us into cutting them off – financially, at the very least – then we ought to prepare ourselves for the consequences. Because it isn’t going to be pretty… ENTIRE ARTICLE – http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2009/07/21/isr... PS. Unfortunately, the very idea of fishing reminds me of "Pricky" Dick Cheney!

RE: "We're getting a facelift, so we might be down for portions of the next day." ANOTHER GREAT ARTICLE: "Cheney’s Inferno", by Jeff Huber, July 22, 2009 (EXCERPT) "…Cheney has a reach-around relationship with Israel’s hard-Right Likudniks. Sidney Blumenthal of Salon.com reported in August 2006 that Cheney and his henchmen were sharing National Security Association intelligence with Israel as part of an attempt to escalate the Iraq war into open hostilities with Iran and Syria. Many are convinced, as am I, that Israel’s 2006 invasion of Lebanon was agreed upon at a meeting between Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu at an American Enterprise Institute conference in Colorado…" ENTIRE ARTICLE – http://original.antiwar.com/huber/2009/07/21/chen...

i would prefer just one column of news, rather than the two under the latest story. it would make it easier to scan

Your new design is a major disappointment. The appeal of a blog is the linear presentation. You’ve gone to the mumbo-jumbo “scatter shit all over the page” style of Huffpo, firedoglake, etc. and other aggregator type sites. This is a serious mistake in information design.

The error of your new format is that you’ve imposed a much bigger “hunt and search” reading requirement. You have to click through on EVERY story now to read it.

In other words, you’ve created a TOTAL CLUSTERFUCK!!!

What a damn shame. You’ve made the same mistake that has made so many other blogs unreadable.

If it ain’t broke, DON’T “FIX” IT!

    • Oscar says:

I disagree with Matter. The site is clean, elegant, NYT.com-ish, easily navigated, aesthetically pleasing, and a worthy showcase of the most progressive thoughts being published on the I/P website. Great work, Phil & Adam.

      • matter says:

Oscar, obviously you have no professional background in design. The site is far less readable. I find myself only bothering to read a fraction of it, as the annoyance of having to click through on each and every entry is overwhelming. Hint: look up the term “usability.”

The “redesign” is displeasing and leading to less exposure of the ideas, however worthy. What a shame.

When I want to read something “NYT.com-ish” I read their site.

  21. delia ruhe says:

Very elegant new site, easy to navigate and a pleasure to visit.

  22. well it seems that this new format
assumes everyone has a wide screen monitor
as i do not -it is very tedious to read- what with
all the shifting back and forth
i’ll check back but if it remains the case
i will have to say goodbye and farewell
see you all in the ether

  23. Khalid says:

    matter & estebanfolsom:
If you subscribe to the RSS feed, you can read the full article in a linear fashion at the screen width of your choosing.

I sort of like the new format — it’s very clean, and easier to scan — but without the customized photo at the top it seems a tad too neat/austere and lacking in personality. Some photos of people interspersed with the content would compensate for this I think!

Keep up the great work guys; this is the best example of ‘citizen journalism’ that I’ve seen yet.
