No it isn’t the Pentagon Papers, but here’s a small sign that the MSM is (finally) going to take on the big bad Israel lobby

Last night we did a post on the Israel Project's adoption of the term "ethnic cleansing" as a talking point for American Jews in opposing the removal of settlements from the West Bank. Repulsive. Well Newsweek yesterday published the Israel Project's "2009 Global Language Dictionary" that includes, on page 62, "The Best Settlement Argument," containing the claim, Why should peace require the ethnic cleansing of Jews from the West Bank?

Newsweek calls the pdf's publication a "web exclusive." Does this mean that the Mainstream Media are going to start reporting on the Israel lobby in an aggressive, even adversarial manner, which after all is a great American tradition with respect to corruption?

Thanks to Martin Wales for the fossicking here. The pdf:

Actually, it is preferable that establishment media stay away from the topic. They are discredited when they ignore it, and its another badge of disgrace that they won for the Iraq reporting debacle. Mainstream media needs to fold.

  2. San Fernando Curt says:

This is evidence that the elephant in the parlor has become so swollen it can't be ignored any longer. That it took this long says a lot about our culture, our media, our willingness to play along when the alternative is getting tagged "anti-Semite", our basic negligence in foreign policy, our apathy… Nothing good, mind you.

  3. Citizen says:

Mmmmmm, the Hasbara bible of talking points. Yes, it's a good sign they made it available. Maybe they will even have a few articles on its nature regarding its debate instructions and known truth?

  4. MRW says:

This is the kind of document that should be printed out. Then when you hear or read an announcer or commenter repeat the argument verbatim (or close to it), call him on it with the page number. With a sneer and a snicker. It's obviously being made available in German and French. I think I'm going to print up an extra copy and send it to my congressman and tell him that if I hear any of this shit coming out of his mouth I will know his allegiance lies with a group not the President of the US and its citizens first.

  5. MRW says:

You were the first to mention this document on another post, Citizen, but I'd already sent it into Phil a couple of hours before that.

about 2 years ago I acquired a copy of the 2002 version of the WUJS Hasbara manual (it has since been revised). I took my copy to a Mearsheimer & Walt book tour event. The event was packed with members of a nearby synagogue, led by the president of a regional AIPAC (so his name tag stated). The AIPAC leader sat directly in front of the podium so that Mearsheimer & Walt had to be aware of his presence. Other members of the group seeded each table — every other seat at each table was a someone antagonistic to Mearsheimer & Walt. It was possible to tell they were part of an organized group because they all had red and grey tri-fold fliers with talking points.

  7. Strahl says:

This same type of group-warfare also took place at Jimmy Carter's Brandeis lecture I think. Typical tribal behavior. Zionist Jews are just very organized. Watch this video (the user has tons of great ones like this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJtlyZWFqWI

  8. ismail says:

apparantley Strahl is upset because WASPs have no power. His kind sold their birthright.

  9. Joe America says:

The extreme language of Nazi Israel deserves a response in kind. Bomb the settlements!

  10. Shingo says:

"His kind sold their birthright. " And through the taxes, provide Israel with the world's biggest welfare cheque.

  11. American says:

I almost agree with you…Eisenhower had plans drawn up during his adm for a bombing of Israel….might not be a bad idea to revisit it.

  12. Citizen says:

Right. Glad we agree it is enormously revealing, MRW. To me its more horrific than the Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion. To begin with, it's not a fiction tweeked from a play. Much more like an internal Goebbels memo to his extended staff.

  13. Citizen says:

"apparantley" the racist ismail would agree that all the poor and non-influential whites who've supported the 1965 Civil Rights Act and its "affirmative action" and "hate speech" underwriters all have "sold" their birthright as well. Let's all give a reverse-White Rose medal to the ziofacist ismail.

  14. Smilin' Ikester says:

Very interesting and I tend to agree he probably did since he's been the only USA president to directly confront Israel in any significant way. Got a source?

  15. Been There says:

For good, analytical counter arguments to Israeli propaganda, a good reference is Norman G Finkelstein's book, Beyond Chutzpah. You know it's good — it was almost totally ignored by our MSM. Compare that to the MSM/s fawning, worshipful extolling of Adam Dershowitz' books blatantly shilling for Israel

  16. Seafoid says:

The comparison with the 2003 Wexman hasbara dictionary is interesting. Here were the main points in 2003, all of them quietly buried in 2009 *Democracy in Iraq matters. Iraq’s transition to democracy is an essential first step towards a stable Middle East. -Casey Sheehan and many other Americans died for this Zionist delusion. *Democracy can bring peace. -This was also bullshit. Democracy did nothing for Iraq other than usher in a Shia theocracy. *It’s time for true democracy for the Palestinian people. They deserve no less. -Another colossal fuckup. The Palestinian election was won by Hamas and Israel's response was a 2 year long siege of Gaza. Over 5% of Gazan kids have brain damage due to insufficient nutrition as a direct result of the siege. * Iraq colors all. Saddam is your best defense, even if he is dead. Very no longer relevant

  17. James Hovland says:

I hope you all have a copy of "The Israel Project's 2009 Global Language Dictionary" on your desktop and have at least attempted to prepare to counter as much as possible. For example… Israel is a legitimate state with recognized borders. However, Israeli settlements outside of Israel's recognized borders are illegal. Israeli settlers living in the Palestinian territories are in fact, illegal immigrants and should be deported, not appeased. Apparently, "natural growth" is something that occurs within a nations borders, not outside of them. Keep it clean, keep it real. Antisemitism is more of a threat to Palestine than it is to Israel, so be sure to avoid that trap, and recognize the many Jewish voices among us.

Could it be that the mainstream media wants to be appear to be on the winning side?
