Dan Schorr blames Hasan's massacre-- alleged massacre-- on the internet, for providing him a twisted community. "Internet contact with the like-minded seemed to replace human contact." Isn't that like blaming the McKinley assassination on newspapers? The internet represents a form of human contact.

Blogroll

I blame Hasan’s religion for causing him to see Afghans as humans – which is very distressing.
.. my coat? What do you mean , why are you giving me my coat? I didn’t ask for my coat.
I had heard very early on that he had been subject to constant racist comments from colleagues for several years. This certainly warrants investigation, but the little blurb I heard on NPR recently (a family member had the radio on; I no longer waste time on NPR for news) briefly outlining the Pentagon ‘review’ of threats did not mention it.
I am headed that way (not listening to NPR) – where do you now go for news?
According to the NPR report Hassan was totally incompetent. He handled less than 10% of the patients of every other Psychiatrist. He was promoted due to political correctness.
The reality is 13 Americans are now dead because the Army didn’t want to look prejudiced against Muslims.
I doubt its that simple – but I’m sure denigration of Hassan as a professional would go over well on Fox News as it is simple, requires no further thought, and applies the psychic balm to the uncomfortable idea that maybe Hassan did have some level of legitimate cognitive dissonance over US foreign policy (not at all to justify his actions – but to understand his mindset). Without this balm people might realize that events like this and 9/11 are an opportunity to apply critical thinking to the accepted central tenets of our foreign policy.
Interesting headline, relative to the Schorr report.
