Rhetorically speaking, why should any US president be with [them] at some core emotional level in the first place? Shouldn’t he be neutral, both in his heart and in his mind?

the usa has never expressed any neutrality on i/p issues… i think it is better for americans to be awake to this reality… all the hot air from american politicians is just this and nothing more… the usa has been completely one-sided and incapable of being an honest broker for peace in the middle east… i wish more americans would wake up to this reality..

Such are the travails of unrequited love. And what is more ludicrous than politicians who peddle the language of “love” in political affairs that deal entirely in self interest. Clinton speaks [metaphorically] as a lover who knows he’s been jilted long ago, never having even gotten the respect due to an official concubine. I can only hope that the good people of America will wake up and realize that they have been treated not as sugar daddies but as call-girls, cheap ones at that. Israel calls, they run. And the worst part of it is – not only are their protestations of eternal passion fall on deaf ears – but they don’t quite get paid the negotiated amount for services rendered, even as more and kinkier services are demanded.

Clinton’s got the right words but the wrong person to say them to, or rather about, and he’s a bit late. The rest of the world considers the American position on the conflict irrelevant. Why go to our State Department, when they can go closer to the source of the policy crafting in the Israeli Foreign Ministry?

A recent proposal is to have funding banks specific to the purpose with only Americans eligible to donate, and second idea of only those living within the district of the respective official able to give money

I wish I shared your confidence. I actually anticipate that Israel will be the stone around the US’ neck that drags it down — ostensibly, I fear, into a Soviet-style dissolution of empire. I think we should really look in the mirror, here, and question where this is headed. I think the US has become irrevocably divided and partisan. I’m not saying it will happen, but I hear more and more whispers of it and see little signs of it every day: the shattering of the United States is becoming more and more so, a likely result of where our government and our society are taking themselves.
I wish I could even say it were a bad thing, but the United States ceased to be the just and progressive nation our founding fathers envisioned, beyond a shadow of a doubt, when we started torturing 13 year old Afghani boys with our “contractors” while US soldiers looked on. At least if the United States cracked into a bunch of bickering regional states, we would cease being a threat to the rest of the world (and maybe it would put us, or at least some of us, on the path of restoring America’s legacy).
