the public interest?

From the JTA:

Canada’s opposition Liberal Party is crying foul after the ruling Conservatives mailed out flyers extolling themselves as stronger supporters of Israel.

Always good to know that in any Western nation the issue of the tiny state of Israel is most important.

Well, I was wondering just what was wrong with the Canadian Liberal Party that they had problems with the elections. Turns out they suffer from the same problems as the Democratic Party here in the US — complete and utter cluelessness that allows them to be outmaneuvered politically by the opposition time and time again.

politics in canuckland are in a downward spiral competing with the usa in this same regard… we have as a leader stephen harper who works hard to be like bush 2, thinking this is the way to win in politics… meanwhile the liberal party is working hard to outdo him in the same manner, deciding on a leader -michael ignatieff who lived outside canada for about 20 odd years.. both were very in favour of the iraq war at the time as well… a couple of jackasses basically with no leadership ability or vision… then we have a 3rd party – the new democrats.. they are regularly pilloried in the right wing media ( the one that conrad black showed such leadership abilities in, lol when not passing the baton to the asper family) and us canucks are basically screwed no matter which way we go…. the israel lobby works fine and dandy up here too, making sure these dumb ass politicians tow the proper line, or lingo… the last good leader we had here was trudeau and those days are long gone… now we have to settle for losers like the ones we have, that are all in a race to appear more stupid then the other…

SEE: “Canada’s sub-prime mortgage time bomb”, BY MURRAY DOBBIN | OCTOBER 22, 2009

(excerpt) What do the mid-recession housing boom and the Harper Conservatives’ rise in the polls have in common? Answer: the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s massive sub-prime mortgage scheme that is keeping up the appearance of an economic recovery.

Reading the newspapers these days you have to wonder whether Canada was on another planet when the global credit crisis hit. House prices have actually increased in some provinces and now there is a shortage of houses for sale in southern Ontario. Credit is flowing everywhere.

Ottawa: The biggest sub-prime lender in the world

But what few Canadians realize is that the housing market has avoided collapse (prices are down 32 per cent in the U.S.) because the Harper Conservatives directed the CMHC to change the mortgage rules to effectively make the Canadian government the biggest sub-prime lender in the world. What’s almost as alarming as this reckless policy is that no one in the financial media is talking about it, even though everyone knows the facts. I was alerted to the scandal by David Lepoidevin, a financial advisor with National Bank Financial, in a warning letter to his clients…

Criticizing Israel Isn’t Antisemitism

9 Rehmat November 21, 2009 at 10:05 pm

On Wednesday, Harper’s Conservative Party issued a one-page flyer accusing the Opposition Liberal Party of “anti-Semitism”. Some of incidents listed in support of the allegation are: Liberal’s participation in 2001 Durban I conference in South Africa, which declared Israel as “apartheid entity”, and supporting Islamic resistance groups, fighting Israeli occupation – Hamas (demcratically elected by Palestinian voters in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem in 2006) and Hizb’Allah (for critizing Israel’s 34-day invasion of Lebanon and demanding declassification of Hizb’Allah as a terrorist organization). Hizb’Allah is a partner in the current Lebanese government and was also a partner in the previous government. Hizb’Allah is the only Arab organization whose armed wing armed wing had inflicted military humiliation on Israel, in 2000 and 2006. Hizb’Allah is classified “a terrorist group” by only three countries in the world – Israel, the US, and Canada.

Wonderful news.

Just as fantastic for Canada as when it got dragged into the Afghanistan for a horrendous quagmire of an occupation! Or how their government needs to shell out millions to those of its citizens who end up getting tortured when they pass through their neighbor’s Inquisitional intel-fabricating apparatus!
