Bibi in the bunker: you’re either with us or you ‘ram’ us

Is it just my flair for the dramatic, or does this Netanyahu speech exude bunker mentality? He doesn’t understand that Israel’s standing has never been lower internationally because of factors Netanyahu can actually control: Gaza, killing the Goldstone report, suppressing peaceful protest, endless colonization. From a JPost report on Netanyahu speech to the Knesset:

"Goldstone is a codeword for an attempt to delegitimize Israel’s right to self defense," Netanyahu told the lawmakers. "The international battle against Israel began in UN Durban Conference I, and continued in the 2005 IJC advisory opinion against the security fence and in the Durban Conference 2, as well as the Goldstone Report [on war crimes committed during Operation Cast Lead]. This is a comprehensive attack, not on a specific Israeli government but on the state of Israel."
The prime minister went on to stress that "Fighting against terrorists requires internal unity. We mustn’t search for the cracks through which to weaken or attack the government at these times."…
"I did not promise a paradise in the West Bank, I promised economical prosperity….
"[A]ll we got [in return for these gestures and actions]," Netanyahu said, "was [the] Goldstone [report], [US pressure to stop all building projects in the Jerusalem neighborhood of] Gilo, all kinds of preconditions [for resuming peace talks] that were unprecedented and unjustified."…
"Our internal unity is important in order to successfully deal with the attacks on Israel’s right to self-defense and in order to continue the peace process. When we fight against false accusations made against Israel we must fight together. We must do this together. The real options are either to ram the government or to support it. This is no less than what I asked of the opposition only several months ago when I was chairman of the opposition," Netanyahu asserted.
"The only option is to support the Israeli government at this time," the premier concluded.

Do you hear that, Witty? Turns out you have no friends or allies at all. Your constant making of apologies for Israeli war crimes alienates you from the genuine liberal left, while your cynical attempts to pin what blame you’re willing to assign to Israelis at all, to just Netanyahu as a scapegoat, will make you a pariah among Zionists.

I’ll try to feel bad for you in your loneliness.

Israel deligitimatizes it own “right to self-defense” just as a 300# bully does when he kicks in a 12 year old’s head.

QUESTIONS FOR NETANYAHU: And what were you doing and saying in the period leading up to the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin by an Israeli terrorist? Were you supporting the government of Israel back at that time?
FROM WIKIPEDIA: (excerpt)…The assassination of Israeli Prime Minister and defense minister Yitzhak Rabin was the culmination of Israeli right-wing dissent over the Oslo Peace Process. Rabin, despite his extensive service in the Israeli military, was disparaged personally by ultra-orthodox conservatives and Likud leaders who perceived the Oslo peace process as an attempt to forfeit the occupied territories…Likud Leader (and future Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu accused Rabin’s government of being “removed from Jewish tradition…and Jewish values.” Netanyahu addressed protesters of the Oslo movement at rallies where posters portrayed Rabin in a Nazi SS uniform or being target by in the crosshairs of a sniper. Rabin accused Netanyahu of provoking violence, a charge which Netanyahu strongly rebuffed…
…After the rally, Yitzhak Rabin, the Israeli prime minister and defense minister, walked down the city hall steps towards the open door of his car. Three shots were fired towards Rabin.
The assassin was Yigal Amir, a former Hesder student and Orthodox far-right law student at Bar-Ilan University. Amir had strenuously opposed Rabin’s peace initiative and especially the signing of the Oslo Accords because he felt that an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank would deny Jews their “biblical heritage which they had reclaimed by establishing settlements.” Amir had come to believe that Rabin was a din rodef, meaning a ‘pursuer’ who endangered Jewish lives. The concept of din rodef was not a part of traditional Jewish law and had been resurrected by ultra-orthodox rabbis from Brooklyn and the settlements. Under din rodef, Amir would be justified in removing Rabin from being a threat to Jews in the territories…

You’re either with us or against us. Same attitude towards dissenters regarding dismantling of basic rights in USA and removing their constitutional civil rights guarantees ever since 9/11–the endless war on “terror” justifies it all– how did this happen here?

People would be well advised, if Bibi is in the bunker to lock the door from the outside and throw away the key.

I am tired of the outrageous chutzpah of Bibi the bozo and his ilk who expect the world to believe that launching air strikes and killing 1,400 people is somehow courageous and “defending ourselves.” It turns my stomach when sociopaths like Netanyahu continue on a course of rampaging, pillaging and killing innocent people while claiming they are the ones who are under threat. I don’t know why anyone with half a brain can even listen to this gasbag without getting nauseous or utterly disgusted.

What is most bizarre, however, is that Netanyahu blames the Goldstone Report for the problems in the West Bank. This psychopath just doesn’t understand cause and effect. Is anyone so stupid not to see that his “economical” efforts in the West Bank are for the sake of the settlers who live there? And that every carrot he tosses to the Palestinians is nothing more than a decoy while he continues to allow the theft of their land and water? It’s a cheesy pacification effort to help keep his agenda intact.

This is the proper reaction to Netanyahu, perfectly expressed. I could not agree with you more. Thanks.

So long as Netanyahu’s bunker is entirely within Israel’s Green Line, this is an issue for Isreali citizens and voters only.

  8. Les says:

Bunker mentality is one side of an equation whose opposite and equal side is the sense of victimization. Together, they become a tool that gives megalomaniacs at the top, all the support from below they need to prey on others. That same sense of victimization is what caused ordinary Germans to cower together during World War II and to support having German troops across the whole of Europe fighting anti-German terrorists.

The US media tells us that the bunker mentality is a natural result of Israelis as victims. End of story! For our media to comprehend that this is a tool, would lead to the question, “Whose tool?”

And this is just a problem between Ashkanazi and Sephardim.

    • Chaos4700 says:

Huh. So the Ashkenazim don’t want their children to go to school with “those people,” huh. How… ironic.

      • syvanen says:

And the sad thing is that the Mizrahi (Sephardim?) don’t realize that they have more in common with the Palestinians then they do with the Ashkanazi. But then the southern crackers never realized that they had more in common with American blacks then they had with the southern white aristocracy. It is so easy to divide the underclass if one faction can be convinced they are superior to another based on race or religion.

        • Chaos4700 says:

It is pretty sad. Actually, as a matter of culture and genetics, the average Ashkenazi has more in common with me (German/Polish descent) than they do with anyone in the Middle East.
