‘U.S.-Israeli arms cooperation quietly growing’

That’s the headline, in the Forward. The spat over settlements is trivial. Deeper and deeper, the US is being sucked into the Israeli swamp.

"America’s commitment to maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge was codified directly into U.S. law via 2008 legislation backed by AIPAC. This legislation requires the president to report to Congress periodically on actions taken by the administration to ensure Israel’s advantage. A spokeswoman for the House Foreign Affairs Committee told the Forward that the White House provided its first report to Congress this past summer. The report was classified, and no information regarding its content has been released."

Anyone else getting pissed that we’re giving all of these “gimmes” to Israel as gratis but its our door Chinese creditors are going to come knocking when the credit card bill comes due? Never mind what Israel uses all that hardware for — periodic bombing campaigns in its neighbor’s territories, often on any civilian population center those F-16s can reach.

    • potsherd says:

Americans would be pissed if they knew. But you can see from the article that this is the last thing the military industrial complex wants known.

“classified” indeed. We sure got CHANGE with this presidency.

      • Chaos4700 says:

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic but I’m rather hoping that in 2010 there are enough Americans who are so thoroughly disgusted with both mainstream parties that we see a burst of independent Congressmen when the elections run their course. That’s really the only avenue for genuine change I see anymore.

Given the helpless way you’ve discussed military matters in the past, I feel the need to offer my aid. An F-16 is an airplane–it uses jet engines. It has a range of over 2000 miles, therefore it “can reach” any target, civilian or otherwise, in Europe, the Mideast, Africa, or South/Central Asia.

      • Chaos4700 says:

I daresay Europe, Africa and Asia will have to bear that in mind when they think about Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal.

        • yonira says:

Africa has already seen the might of the IAF(in a defensive role). Chaos you should read about Entebbe, I’d like to see how that is spun by you and your cronies.

        • Chaos4700 says:

We’re all quite well aware of the frequency via which the IAF violates the sovereignty of other countries.

Incidentally, isn’t Uganda one of the other prime candidates that Zionists were looking at early on to carve their judenreich? Huh.

        • Chaos4700 says:

But of course, Israel would never field military operation of any scale in Europe, would they…?

South Africa contributes constantly to the settler debacle in the occupied territories –

          CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF APARTHEID

Once for apartheid in Africa is not enough for some, they have to go participate more in Israel. As far as yonira and OhioJoes stupid quips, I do not think you want to open up the can of worms in regard to Israel’s exploitation of Africa, unless you like eating shit. This is probably enough said and we should try to stay on track with the post.

(EXCERPT) Israel received the first of its three “Dolphin”-class submarines from Germany in 1999. Recent media reports have highlighted the growing international awareness of how German-built submarines are expanding Israel’s nuclear capacity. A report this weekend by the Los Angeles Times on how the Israelis have modified American-supplied cruise missiles to carry nuclear warheads has re-ignited concern about Germany’s role in providing the country submarines that can launch them from the sea….

        • AND: “Israel gets two more German submarines” (AFP) – Sep 29, 2009
JERUSALEM — Israel has taken delivery of two German submarines ordered four years ago, a military spokesman said on Tuesday.
“We have received two Dolphin-class submarines built in Germany,” he said, on condition of anonymity.
The submarines, called U212s, can launch cruise missiles carrying nuclear warheads, although when it confirmed the sale in 2006 the German government said the two vessels were not equipped to carry nuclear weapons.
The subs were ordered in 2005 and delivery was initially expected in 2010.
Including the two new ones, Israel has five German submarines — the most expensive weapon platforms in Israel’s arsenal.
Germany, which believes it has a historic responsibility to help Israel because of the mass murder of Jews in World War II, donated the first two submarines after the 1991 Gulf War.
It split the cost of the third with the Jewish state….

Wrath of God was not a military operation.

        • Chaos4700 says:

Oh. So it was a terrorist operation, then?

        • yonira says:

I’d call it a clandestine operation, but its purpose was to terrorize those responsible for Munich, a little taste of their own medicine. Major difference was those who were murdered were linked to Black September and in some way responsible for Munich (except the waiter in Lillehammer), where those who were murdered @ Munich were athletes.

Have you seen the movie Munich? Its a fair portrayal of what happened throughout Europe following Munich and the psychological implications of being an assassin.

SEE: ” Israel deploys nuclear arms in submarines”, By Peter Beaumont in London and Conal Urquhart in Jerusalem, 10/12/03
(EXCERPT) Israeli and American officials have admitted collaborating to deploy US-supplied Harpoon cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads in Israel’s fleet of Dolphin-class submarines, giving the Middle East’s only nuclear power the ability to strike at any of its Arab neighbours.
The unprecedented disclosure came as Israel announced that states ‘harbouring terrorists’ are legitimate targets, responding to Syria’s declaration of its right to self-defence should Israel bomb its territory again.

According to Israeli and Bush administration officials interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, the sea-launch capability gives Israel the ability to target Iran more easily should the Iranians develop their own nuclear weapons.

Although it has been long suspected that Israel bought three German diesel-electric submarines with the specific aim of arming them with nuclear cruise missiles, the admission that the two countries had collaborated in arming the fleet with a nuclear-capable weapons system is significant at a time of growing crisis between Israel and its neighbours….

So…. it was a terrorist operation? In Europe? Against European citizens? So Israel is a terrorist state? Hell, compared to what happened at Munich, Israel is many times over a terrorist state. They’re like experts at being terrorists.

Israel murdered dozens upon dozens of people, yonira. Over twenty years They weren’t all involved in what happened in Munich, and I doubt that the innocent blood spilled was confined to that one waiter in Lillehammer.

There’s a name for when you go into another country and slaughter people en masse. It’s called a war crime.

      • syvanen says:

OJ should hold his tongue before criticizing the hapless way we discuss military matters. His comment is militarily incompetent. The F16 has a combat radius of only 340 miles. It achieves the 2000 mile range by jettisoning its weapons and using the freed weight with extra fuel tanks. Do you see the problem OJ? — it may reach a target after 2000 miles but it is useful as a weapon only as a kamikazee.

Designed by Elbit, the Israeli defense electronics manufacturer, the drone is said to boost surveillance and be capable of hitting targets as far as Iran, some 1500 kilometers (950 miles) away.

The new Hermes, an upgraded version of Hermes 450 used during the 2006 war on Lebanon, can stay in the air for 36 hours and can be used for both spying and air strike purposes.
