There is, BTW, some confusion about what a hearing in The Hague would mean. It is a court, not a hangman. It hears, first, an accusation, then evidence and legal argument, and last, if at all, issues a decree of guilt or innocence (or not proved?). A finding of guilt of war crimes is by no means assured.
Still, with the US’s invincible help, Israel has enjoyed “immunity” (that is, it has been proof against bring brought before any court) and this immunity has in effect created “impunity” (that is, a condition of being proof against punishment).
I’d like to see Israel or its important leaders in the “dock”, if just once. And if the US decides to try the accused unlawful combatants which it holds in military commissions, then perhaps Israel (a lawless combatant in Palestine and Lebanon so many times) should be tried in such a rather lawless (that is to say, non-due-process) court as well.
