Congrats to Muhammad Barakei, Palestinian-Israeli Knesset Member from Hadash, who managed to sum up in just 12 words the sick spectacle of Israel's Jewish political elite genuflecting to International Man of bigotry, Glenn Beck.
As quoted in the Jerusalem Post:
There are enough racists in Israel without importing them from the US.
Beck, of course, is in Jerusalem this week, seeding the soil for his big Restoring Hate -- er, Courage, Restoring Courage -- rally next Wednesday. The rally is being billed as an opportunity "to unite people around the world from all walks of life in standing with Israel, reminding us of the need to have faith, honor and courage in our own lives," but even the most cursory knowledge of Beck and his army of the faithful suggests that their motives align far more closely with stirring conflict and sowing violence than hand-holding their way to the Age of Unity. Why else plan to hold the rally at the contested-to-the-point-of-combustible Southern Wall excavations -- a point Barakei also makes.
The lessons from Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount apparently haven’t been learned. This event isn’t for building coexistence, but to spark fires in a sensitive location ahead of the United Nations vote on a Palestinian state in September.
There is a danger that the event will lead to people being harmed, and the police should have prevented it.
This should all be bluntly, eye-bleedingly obvious but so far only a handful of prominent public figures and politicians have had the courage, moral clarity, or simple honesty to state the obvious. The rest have pretty much used Beck's visit as a chance to practice their best High Holiday full-body prostration.
Which reminds me: the runner-up best line of the day goes to Palestinian-Israeli MK Ahmad Tibi (UAL-Ta’al), who described Beck as "a bizarre, conservative, neo-fascist comedian who is motivated by a hatred of Islam.”
Amen.

Yes, we are so racist in Israel that we can have a Palestinian as a member of our Knesset who can mouth off about how racist we are
So benevolent. A model for us all
Hey, we already have the Black Caucus as a model; isn’t that enough?
>> Yes, we are so racist in Israel that we can have a Palestinian as a member of our Knesset who can mouth off about how racist we are
There you go purposely misrepresenting statements again. Mr. Barakei is quoted as having said “There are enough racists in Israel without importing them from the US.” Are you suggesting that Israel has no racists? Are you that big a fool or a liar?
The KKK needs to do more than dress in white to convince the world that they are not racists.
Yeah, the KKK, now there’s a group with a lot of power and influence in the US Establishment.
longliveisrael? Really? But who is this new troll?

Very good Dickerson3870 … But who told you LLI went to school ?
You make a valid point! But “school” in Israel these days seems to mostly involve studying the Talmud. They do not seem to learn anything about Einstein, Darwin, Freud, Galileo etc.
No, they can’t mouth off…..remember Hanin Zuabi, the female Arab member of the knesset?…who was physically attacked by Jewish woman?….now she’s also been stripped of her knesset member rights.
They are just widow dressing for US sheeple consumption; have no power at all in Israel’s coalition-driven parliament.
Token Palestinian. Who has been verbally and physically attacked, mocked and humiliated for teling the truth in the Knesset.
Who gives a f#%k that Israel has Arab politicians? They mean nothing in the Zionist machine.
They are token representations of the Arab demographic. You’re such a cynical little racist. As if you care about anything other than your own tribe.
You tell him, lli. Along the same lines, Ralph Bunche was a black man and and American diplomat in the 40′s, which just goes to show that there just couldn’t have been any racism in the United States at that time. There just couldn’t. Plus we even had black lawyers arguing cases in the Supreme Court in that same time period. Honestly, one wonders what the civil rights movement was even about, using your logic.
On February 25, 1870, Hiram Rhodes Revels was elected the first black member of the Senate, becoming also the first black member of the Congress. longliveisrael constantly displays his ignorance of US history & culture.
Yes indeed, congrats to Barakei and Tibi who went on a trip to Libya last year (with the rest Palestinian-Israeli Knesset Members) to kiss Gaddafi’s behind. Tibi went on to describe him as “President of all presidents and king of all Arab kings”.
What a proud moment for these 2 circus clowns.
Regev …Mark Regev?
children dying in gaza
Which is what Zionists John McCain and Tony Blair did.
Meanwhile, Israel has offered to allow Mubarak to enjoy his retirement in Israel.
Hey Regev, you still missed some if that egg on your face.
What you wrote is not only lame it’s also untrue.
“Which is what Zionists John McCain and Tony Blair did.”
You might as well could have written the names of countless world leaders and off course called them all Zionists if that makes you feel any better. They all made asses out of themselves by legitimizing this man. But what’s worse is that you failed to understand my argument which ridiculed the Palestinian-Israeli MKs who never miss an opportunity to bash Israel for oppressing the Palestinian people but have no problem kissing the behind of a dictator who oppresses his people for decades.
As for Mubarak. Here you’re just lying.
Israel never offered Mubarak an Asylum or to enjoy his retirement in Israel like you noted.

From the article: “MK Benjamin Ben-Eliezer (Labor) told Army Radio on Wednesday that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak political asylum several months ago.”
The only one who offered Mubarak an asylum was Ben-Eliezer not the government of Israel. Even if Netanyahu was informed about this move (which I seriously doubt) he couldn’t have authorized it without the approval of the Israeli government. That’s how a democracy works. link to msnbc.msn.com
Ben-Eliezer continued by saying: “I am convinced that the Israel government would have accepted him but he declined [the offer] because he was a patriot.” Which means the Israeli government never offered Mubarak an asylum. This issue wasn’t even discussed by the Israeli government.
Hey Shingo, you’re pathetic and also a liar. That’s it.
The 1st problem with getting too emotional with your righteous indignation/condemnation, is that you never complete the list, once you run into inconvenient truths.
The 2nd problem is that by doing #1, you reveal yourself to be unstable, dishonest….
I’m not 100% sure that Israelis, generally, are conscious that Ariel Sharon caused a bloody confrontation deliberately (or even at all); they probably think that Palestinians just erupt by spontaneous combustion. Intifadas are an unfortunate fact of life, but Israelis know how to deal with them (don’t they?), so all is well — from an Israeli perspective.
Anyway, whatever they actually believe, Israeli pols (MKs) can be just as stupid and follow-the-leader as the USA Congress. Makes one wonder where, exactly, is the tail that is wagging all these dogs.
“…spontaneous combustion”
Well, we are kind of conditioned for that kind of thinking.
“And God said, let there be light”
Oh, Lizzy, you’re *such* an IslamoMaoist. :p
Potemkin village? Perhaps, Longliveisreal, you would like to keep Heir Beck? Please do?
Israel is in the import/export business of Organized Hate. This upcoming Glenn Beck show is one example of its import of racism from the United States. That it works with aipac to promote such fools in the US (e.g. supporting strongly Rev Hagee and his CUFI events) is an example of its export of racism to the US. Amazing that Beck is basically fired from Fox (can you believe it?) for being so extreme and conspiratorial that he ended up losing that corporation millions in lost advertising, and now we see Israel and aipac standing strongly by Beck’s side, greeted as a hero. Who in the Knesset, beside the few Palestinian members of Knesset (does “longlive” not understand tokenism?) is actually condemning Beck’s upcoming concert for war? No, the mainstream Israeli parties stand behind him… they know that such racism is too popular in Israel to openly oppose.
“There are enough racists in Israel without importing them from the US”
What a shame that such succint and common sensical observations coming from the Knesset are the rare exception instead of the rule.
Unfortunately, Israeli society, is turning in the OPPOSITE direction…..
(as demonstrated by the glaring ommissions of indignation contained in the self serving motivations behind the current street protests (ignoring the occupation))
……..of Barakei’s astute appraisal of the Beck dog and pony show.
It is truly ironic seeing someone with the monicker “longliveisrael” consistentlyadvocate for the very policies, actions, and legislative efforts that will be Israel’s demise.
Are all zionists idiotically self destructive, or just the ones that make jackasses of themselves on far too many blogsites???
Zionism empowers stupid people and intelligent people alike. Since there is no quality control, the stupid people like longliveisrael open their mouth and let the garbage flow out without shame.
Normal people would have a bit of shame and restraint but when you’re part of a nationalist cult + on the Internet, it empowers you to ignore social pressures to a act with a modicum of civility and common sense.
Well put, Cliff. I find it amazing to watch videos from the AIPAC conference or people in Israel where they spout the exact same garbage as we see here from the hasbaradim .
Great comment.
Garbage in, garbage out.
I wonder when Glenn Beck is going to ‘walk on water’. It sounds like that is what he is working up to.
Save us Glenn! Save us! Our fate rests in your hands.
I don’t get Glenn Beck. I can’t take him seriously although I know millions of you Americans do. What is up with your effed-up country?
link to upload.wikimedia.org
I don’t have a TV, but I haven’t seen him in any news coverage over here. It seems like his visit to Israel is only news in the US.
He’s definitely more your problem than ours.
Well done to MK Barekei for calling him out and identifying those who are really no friend to Israel.
Look who’s talking.
I’d say both countries are really effed-up; problem is one is only superpower dog & other is the tail wagging it.
What is up with your country GF ? … Hate messengers are welcomed and peace messengers deported (flytilla).
“There are enough racists in Israel without importing them from the US.”
Priceless. Thanks for bringing our attention to it Lizzy and all you are doing for justice and truth. You go!
