Dr Yousef Abdel Haq
Imagine if an Israeli or Jewish professor, aged 70, was arrested on political grounds. Imagine our State Department's outrage. We related the arrest of Yousef Abdel Haq, a PFLP leader, in an earlier news roundup. I received this photograph and message from Saed Abu-Hijleh, a poet and lecturer in geography in Nablus.
The arrest of Professor Abdel Haq, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, aims to silence the voices of Palestinian intellectuals and academics who are struggling to expose the continuous crimes of the Zionist state and who are active on the local and international levels to build solidarity networks that struggle to end Israeli Apartheid in Palestine. Professor Abdel Haq is a lawyer and lecturer of Political Economy at An-Najah National University. He is also one of the main founders and former President of the Palestinian Enlightenment Cultural Center (Tanweer). Professor Abdel Haq is 70 years old and suffers from several chronic illnesses that require medication and medical care and his incarceration by the Israeli authorities constitutes a serious threat to his health and life and thus Israel is responsible for any harm to him that may result from this illegal action. Take action now and demand the release of Professor Abdel Haq and all of the Palestinian political prisoners.

Dr Yousef Abdel Haq Speaking at a rally in Nablus
Updated:
Abu Hijleh sends along the above photo of Abdel Haq at a recent rally in Nablus, and says, "I think it is part of a campaign to arrest progressive/leftist intellectuals and also Islamists who can offer analysis and critique of the policies and actions of Israel and the US in Palestine and in the region after the radical changes that are happening in the wake of the Arab spring and its aftermath..."

The totalitarian system always consider intellectuals, scholars, people who dare to think independently, people who publically oppose their practices, as a great danger to them. The totalitarian system despises them ,wants to get rid of them, silence, jail or even murder ,if they deem it necessary. What Israel is doing to Palestinians shows that Israel is not a “vibrant democratic state” but it is a “vibrant” police/military/totalitarian state.
The fact that majority of corrupted American politicans blatantly, openly support this, with no voice of criticism, proves that the US is on its fast way to become a totalitarian state.
i agree that israel seems to be a crystal ball for the future of the US, after my recent trip there. but as the US is so large and diverse, and has its historical love of “freedom” i fear it may be a bumpy road. namely, i think the only way the US public continues to go along with the current program of the US elites, is if we have another 9/11 like event. i’m really unsure about the next 1-2 years, but i have this sinking feeling things will happen fast.
That’s a silver bullet against which we have no protection. If conditions become too adverse for the “war on terrorism” proponents, they have all the means in the world to organize some kind of new 9/11 (and they don’t have to have organized 9/11 to be aware that it served their purpose when all is said and done).
Whether they could have the intent depends on how one assesses their extremism. I must say that to me, defining a line that the “Iraq war neocons” would not cross, is not an easy task. Their lust for mayhem seems to know no bounds.
In the big scheme of things, we are sitting ducks.
regarding a false flag that is tied to iran (and after my research, 9/11 is a FF in my opinion) check out these quotes that stick out to me-

there seems to be great continuity of US policy. there was not much of a shake up with obama as well, so the power structure in the CIA/FBI/military seems in place from the bush years. the way obama and the state dep ran with the “saudi assassination plot” shocked me, and made me even more scared we may manufacture this was vs. iran in the next year.
I got word of this outrage from my Toronto Jewish activist newsgroup. Nobody has yet come up with plan to launch a campaign to get him out of jail. Let us know if you hear of one.
Here is another item from the newsgroup about the Jewish Nation Fund that would certainly bring cheer to Professor Abdel Haq:
