Ed Koch says people should shut up about Pussy Riot because of– Iran

The Israel lobby engulfs every issue. Politicker picked up this Ed Koch commentary that makes it clear that human rights everywhere must be subordinated to the issue of Iranian nukes (thanks to Max Blumenthal):

I also believe it is not in the interest of the U.S. to support the actions of the Pussy Riot defendants. At a time when the Iranian nuclear threat grows by the day and we are fighting Islamic extremists around the world, we should be seeking to enlist President Putin to join the West in our effort to prevent the Islamist fanatics from achieving their goal of destroying Western civilization, not making him the enemy and Pussy Riot the victim.

    So we must support despots and demagogues everywhere, however squalid and anti-human rights, because of a mythical, hyped-up threat for which there is no evidence. I guess that’s why (Cry)Bibi is applauded by the quislings.

    MY COMMENT: What do you expect? Naturally Ed Koch is unconcerned about human rights. After all, Ed Koch and Pastor John “Hitler was a Jew” Hagee are best bosom buddies!

    [EXCERPTS] Senator John McCain was wrong to reject the endorsement of Texas evangelist Rev. John Hagee.
    Several years ago Rev. Hagee     delivered a sermon that was caught on tape in which he preached, “Then God sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun, and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said, ‘My top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel.” Anyone hearing the tape would conclude that Hagee is hostile to the Jews, but nothing could be further from the truth. He and his congregants are among Israel’s strongest supporters. For religious reasons, they want Israel to rule supreme over all of the lands that made up the ancient Jewish kingdoms of Israel and Judea. Evangelicals believe that the Messiah – Jesus Christ – cannot return to the earth until the Jews return to the land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael), they having been expelled by the Romans in 70 AD after the Second Temple — the one built by Herod — was destroyed.
    Christian fundamentalists believe that every word of the Old and New Testaments represents the will of God. . .
    . . . Rev. Hagee, being a fundamentalist, believes that each word is the word of God, and that everything that occurs on Earth happens as a result of God’s direction. Events caused by people like Hitler, for some fundamentalists, are explained as a punishment visited by God on Jews who had fallen away from the faith and did not follow all of God’s mandates. . .
    . . . Rev. Hagee apparently believes that Hitler was used by God to bring the Jews back to the promised land. . .
    . . . Hagee was not praising Hitler the monster, he was simply offering the fundamentalist opinion that Hitler was used by God to cause the creation of a Jewish state to which the Jews of the world would return.
    Hagee’s followers have supported the State of Israel in many tangible ways. Evangelicals continue to visit Israel as tourists even during the most dangerous times, which is more than can be said for some Diaspora Jews.
    It has become fashionable among liberals, including Jews, to ridicule and denounce Hagee and other
    fundamentalists. I do not. I appreciate their support of the State of Israel and thank them for their enormous contributions to the Jewish state. . .

        Koch gets away with disowning his own party for the sake of Israel .Now he is trying to undermine his country this time again for Israel. Loyalty and patriotism get subordinated to more tribal connection. In the remote past this entitlement would have been and had been explained in terms of “Chosen People ” .Argument has now moved to the more mundane earthly matters like the protection of only US ally sharing same values in that part of rough undemocratic backward region eager to destroy the West .The tribe also gets to define what the US interest is.

    This whole “Pussy Riot” story is a massive propaganda blitz. Even if literally true, which it is not, why such an uproar? Because Putin’s Russia is obstructing empire in the Security Council? Freedom of speech? Tell that to Lynne Stewart. How about Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, or Wikileaks in general?

    Over at Counterpunch, Paul Craig Roberts notes that “The Pussy Riot case shows the power of Washington’s propaganda even inside Russia itself and reveals that Washington’s propaganda has suborned important human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Chatham House, and Amnesty International.”

      You are right, it is nothing, but the old cold war propanganda with the new twist.

      The group called Pussy Riot is a bunch of hulligans looking for fame, and to achive that they do the most outrageous things.
      We all know about their “show” at the cathedral in Moscow and I wonder what would the MSM write if they did the same in the St. Patrick´s in New York?
      They also did a group sex demonstration in a library, where six of them were naked and had live sex to the outrage of spectatorts.
      You can see a picture of it in the today´s issue of the Spiegel, the same madonna like woman, who lead the cathedral dance, being naked and getting scre..d doggy style. Shame on our MSM and politicians using this to attack Putin.

    Sometime people end up supporting and reaching the right conclusion ( Pussy right is not an issue worth a printed word ) but for wrong reason. Ed has done exactly that .If Pussy Right were unfolding in Iran, he would demand ‘Bomb Bomb Iran”

    I dont support Pussy Riot but I can understand why the West to bolster its case against Putin and Putin’s Russia or against the Orthodox Church will support a group like this. It is in their interest.
    As expected from an Israeli firster that effort or any pro American effort if seen going against Isareli interest should not be endorsed or mentioned at all. And this guy was a mayor of NY one time?
