Rosh Hashanah 5773: Let the man in front of the tank win

A tank, a soldier, the IDF … elements in a Rosh Hashanah greeting card which is circulating on the web:

Seeing the card, I was reminded of the iconic image of Art Gish facing down an IDF tank. Gish worked with the Christian Peacemakers Team (CPT) in Hebron. Here’s my card wishing all the writers and readers of Mondoweiss a good new year:

    5773 years.
For how many of those years did the Jews have military hegemony?

5773 years into the future- for how many years will the Jews have military hegemony ?

It’s 5773 years from creation of the Universe. Judaism as we know it much, much younger. But 5773 makes a good impression.

Not to forget the women and children in front of the tanks too. May they win!
