‘We will make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite’ — anonymous neocon threat to Hagel

Should have seen this coming. Note the phrase “Some Jews,” leading off Katie Glueck report at Politico:

Some Jews and supporters of Israel voiced major concerns about the possible nomination of former Sen. Chuck Hagel to lead the Defense Department, taking to Twitter and the blogosphere this week to slam the Nebraska Republican.

“Send us Hagel and we will make sure every American knows he is an anti-Semite,” a senior Republican Senate aide told the Weekly Standard. The aide continued, “Hagel has made clear he believes in the existence of a nefarious Jewish lobby that secretly controls U.S. foreign policy. This is the worst kind of anti-Semitism there is.”

The Times of Israel reported that “The nomination of Hagel would likely worry Israel supporters, who have criticized the former Republican senator for what they see as a chilly stance toward the Jewish state.”..

At the White House Hanukkah party Thursday, according to a BuzzFeed report, Jewish leaders on both sides of the aisle expressed concern over a possible Hagel nod. The BuzzFeed story cited criticism of Hagel, dating back several years, that came from the National Jewish Democratic Council and its then-executive director, Ira Forman, who more recently oversaw Jewish outreach for the Obama reelection campaign.

“Hagel has made clear he believes in the existence of a nefarious Jewish lobby that secretly controls U.S. foreign policy. This is the worst kind of anti-Semitism there is.”

This is obviously wrong. Nothing “secret” about it. Also it isn’t interested in the entire foreign policy, only that which impacts Israel.

Good. I look forward to hearing him questioned and saying, “I believe Israel has a right to security — but not a right to 45 years of occupation during which it has repeatedly and since 1980 continually violated the Fourth Geneva Convention in numerous ways, the chief way being the settling of Jewish Israelis as settlers inside the occupied territories on land confiscated illegally from Palestinians.”

Way to go, Obama, and even if Hagel is not confirmed, this should be a WONDERFUL opportunity for Obama (and Hagel) to educate America. Hope they take the opportunity to take an opportunity.

Yea, we know pretty much who the “some ‘ are…..the same ones who go on the attack every time. Let’s see who first publicly emerges in the senate to denounce Hagel.
Wonder if the msm is going to have anyone opposing Hagel on a news show.
If so, I doubt they go so far as to outright call him a anti semite, they will bad mouth him in others ways. It seems they steer clear of going to the general public with the anti semite charge in these attacks…which is smart of them. They keep it a DC insider political circle fight and rally their Israel base thru the net and their others orgs to flood the WH and congress with complaints.
It the general public had seen all the attacks like this by zios that we followers of this have seen there would even more head stratching and WTF is this? going around in the public.
Can you imagine seeing the lunatic Pam Geller on CNN calling Hagel a anti semite and saying because he’s not loyal enough to Israel he can’t be US Sec. of Defense or calling Carter an anti semite on national TV back when they were attacking him?
Nope they will avoid that…love to see it happen though…..expose how crazy they are.

“The political reality is that… the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.” Hagel then related a meeting he had in New York with a group of supporters of Israel who are pushing the U.S. to attack Iran. When Hagel said it hadn’t worked out that well in Iraq, a couple of members of the group said he wasn’t supportive enough of Israel.
Hagel spoke firmly: “Let me clear something up here if there’s any doubt in your mind. I’m a U.S. Senator. I’m not an Israeli senator. I’m a U.S. Senator. I support Israel… But my first interest is, I take an oath to the constitution of the United States. Not to a president, not to a party, not to Israel.”

I like Hagel for a lot of reasons, not solely just because I agree with his position on US-Israel.
What I like him most for is he has integrity and is a straight talker and does not pander to special groups when he believes (knows) they are wrong on principle or a issue. He doesn’t just tell people whatever they want to hear or talk out of both sides of his mouth.
What he said to the pro Israel questioner is exactly what and how it should be said…it’s not an attack on Israel, it’s a statement of principle about the US and US leaders should put the interest of their country first….not be swayed by special interest or have favored foreign nations they ‘abdicate’ US policy to.
The zios in their delusional and twisted agenda call this anti semitism…what they are saying to everyone is the US will act our and Israel’s interest, not your own or you’re anti semites.
I really would like see them doing a full on blitz on national TV msm promoting the line that it is anti semitic for the US or anyone not to do exactly as Israel and they dictate no matter the cost or conquences to the US…..I think that would go a long way toward the end of their influence.
Maybe they will eventually either get desperate enough or over confident enough to actually try it.. They sort of played around the edges of that tactic with Netanyahu’s inteference in our Presidential elecion.

They succeeded in stopping Bill Clinton from appointing Bobby Ray Inman Secretary of Defense.
