Palestinians build tunnel to attack Israeli kindergarten, Netanyahu says

Yesterday Israel’s prime minister tweeted more cartoon evidence of alleged war crimes by Gazan militants.

If you study the cartoon, you will see what passes for fact from the Israeli government: An armed fighter pops up out of a tunnel next to an Israeli kindergarten. Another militant pops up next to a restaurant.

I would like to request more information from the knowledgeable community at this site. 1, Is there any evidence that Palestinian tunnelers have targeted Israeli kindergartens? 2. Is there any evidence for the claim that money designated for kindergartens in Gaza was used to build tunnels that pop up at Israeli kindergartens? 3. The tunnels in the graphic would have to be a mile long or more. Last year the New York Times’s Isabel Kershner dutifully passed along the Israeli claim that one Gaza tunnel was “about a mile long.” I live in New York, where it is taking years to tunnel 1.7 miles from 63rd to 96th St to extend the subway on the East Side– and you’re going to tell me the Palestinians tunnel for one mile and the New York Times swallows it? Is it really possible that Israel could not uncover a mile-long tunnel till it popped up next to a kindergarten? Sapping and countersapping date to trench warfare in the First World War and earlier.

I believe that tunnels exist, and I believe that Gazans have a right to tunnel out from under their open air concentration camp. But we here at the site want more information about these tunnels beyond a big cartoon lie.

My God, they’re tunneling into the dining room? Hide the silver!

Do they think we can’t tell the difference between a photo and a drawing? Cripes!

This man is truly psycopathic. He bombs kids in Gaza right now!

Bibi is so full of shit. Israeli TV won’t show a B’tselem video naming all the kids Israel has murdered and Israel can’t deal with the tunnels because they couldn’t be arsed when it mattered

“How Israel botched the battle against Hamas
The writing about the Hamas’s network of tunnels was on the wall but nobody wanted to read it, says a geologist who set up Military Intelligence’s special-operations division. ”

and now he’s bringing in Kindergartens.

Israel has already bombed rehab hospitals, general hospitals, schools, mosques and family homes .

He has no idea how much hatred he’s engendering for Israel.

A minimially sized, one mile long tunnel would entail the removal of thousands of cubic yards of dirt/rock. Where is it? I don’t see it on Beebs graphic.

First, I’m on your side. But I think one-mile long tunnels might exist. There was a report a few days (NYT?) in which an Israeli in Nir Am told the reporter that the tunnel exit was about “500 meters” from the settlement. On Google Maps, you can work that out to be one mile from the line.

I’m not on-site, maybe the guy exaggerated, etc. etc. But I would not dismiss a mile (approx?) out of hand.
