Four Palestinians, two Israelis killed, and Israeli forces blockade Al Aqsa mosque

Four Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces early Friday morning, while two Israelis were shot and killed by Palestinian gunmen in the deadliest day for Palestinian civilians in more than one year. The attack on the Israelis resulted in Israeli forces blockading the Al Aqsa mosque compound and preventing Friday prayer for the first time since 1967, according to Palestinian sources.

In Jerusalem, three Palestinians were shot dead around 7 a.m. by Israeli forces after carrying out a shooting attack near Lions’ Gate in the Old City, during which two Israeli officers were killed by the Palestinian gunmen, according to Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld. Another Israeli officer was lightly to moderately wounded in the attack.

Hours earlier Israeli forces raided Dheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem during pre-dawn raids, shooting and killing an 18-year-old resident of the camp during clashes that broke out in protest of the soldiers’ presence.

The three Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Jerusalem were Palestinian citizens of Israel from the Palestinian town of Umm al-Fahm, identified by Rosenfeld as Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Jabareen, 29, Mohammed Hamed Abd Al-Latif Jabareen, 19, and Mohammed Ahmed Mafdal Jabareen, 19.

The Israeli police officers who were shot and killed by the Palestinian gunmen have yet to be identified.

In a video published online, one of the Palestinians lay on the ground in the Al Aqsa mosque compound after being shot and injured. Moments later the Palestinian jumps to his feet, only to be shot down and riddled with bullets after he collapsed again on the ground.

Following the shooting, Israeli forces blockaded the mosque compound, not allowing worshippers into the area.

According to Ma’an News Agency, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, said that it was the first time that Israel had prevented Muslims from performing Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa since 1967.

While Hamas did not claim responsibility for the attack, Israeli daily Haaretz reported that Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the attack in Jerusalem was “a natural reaction to Israeli terror and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and is proof of the continuing resistance to the occupation and that the Palestinian people are united and supportive of the resistance.”

Friday was the deadliest day of civilian casualties since March 8, 2016, when three Palestinians were killed in Tel Aviv after carrying out an attack that left one tourist dead and 12 Israelis wounded. On the same day a 55-year-old Palestinian woman was shot dead after allegedly attempting a knife attack on Israeli forces in the Old City of Jerusalem.

On January 8 of this year one Palestinian was shot and killed after ramming a truck into four Israeli soldiers who were killed in the attack.

Since the start of 2017, 43 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis, while ten Israelis have been killed by Palestinians during the same time period.

      Thanks for sharing.

How about the names of these four martyrs who struck a blow against Zionism? Kudos to them for restricted their attack only on armed forces and not civilians. Bonus points for using homemade weapons.

Citizens shooting their own police is not “resistance”.

When it happens inside belligerently occupied territory that is being violently colonized by a foreign genocidal apartheid regime it most certainly is resistance.

      Amigo,

The “shooters” were indigenous Palestinians. The “police” are a violent illegal foreign occupying and colonizing force working for a genocidal Zionist apartheid regime. If indigenous Palestinians shoot indoctrinated violent foreign occupiers and colonizers inside Palestine that is resistance.

How many adjectives are necessary in one short paragraph to explain to people who already are anti-Israel that they should be anti-Israel? Violent (1), illegal (2), foreign (3), occupying (4), colonizing (5) are needed to introduce “force”; and genocidal (1), Zionist (2), apartheid (3) are needed for “regime”. When I lived in the USSR, I noticed that Pravda would get by with just one adjective for every noun it detested (imperialistic (1) America, or aggressive (1) Israel). The same was true for the “hate-hour” in school where the class was reminded who the bad guy is this week (greedy (1) capitalists, or counter-revolutionary (1) Zionists).

The illegal “Israeli state” has no right to keep personnel in Jerusalem. Also, the status of uniformed “Israeli state” personnel. especially but not exclusively if armed, is the only one in question because such personnel is free game for any Palestinian, legally authorized to resist by all means available.

        Echi,

So what is the status of the ‘Palestinian’ citizens of Israel? Until 1966 they were under martial law. If they have the ‘right’ to ‘resist’ in any part of Israel(since you define all of Israel as occupied territories) how do you think they should be treated? I thought that you don’t distinguish between Israel proper and the rest.

how do you think they [Palestinians] should be treated?

John-sixty-five and a half seems to be a special case even among the Zionists, with reference to cognitive prowess.

His pirate tribe of invaders has no right to be anywhere in Palestine, and Palestine doesn’t need his oligophrenic quotemarks either. The only right of Sixty-some’s dear relatives, except the very rare among them who happen to be Palestinian, is to clear out PDQ and pay reparations.
Repeat, their only right is to get out, yesterday. Not to do this or that to the owners of the place.

They have no right to even think that they can “treat” the owners of the land and sovereignty in any manner. Blast the arrogance of the goddam American slaveholder numskull –who the hell does he think he is, “treating”?

Nah, the genocidal Zionist apartheid regime currently operating in Palestine is allowed to be flushed down the toilet before it implodes, and the foreign enemy aliens responsible for creating it should be hanging from trees for all the war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity they’ve perpetrated and continue to perpetrate against the Palestinians.

What is the practical consequences of “The status is that of owners of the country”.
If the Israeli state continues to exist for X number of years until your goals are achieved. After that the question is moot.

But for now, how should the state treat the Palestinian citizens? As “owners” doesn’t answer the question. It’s a practical question. There is currently a state apparatus that provides services to its population. Should the Palestinians be full and equal citizens or are they a hostile entity entitled to ‘resist’?
