France’s Hollande slams Palestinians for getting uppity at UN

Is this the lobby d’Israel at work? I thought France was a little bit neutral. Netanyahu visits Francois Hollande, and Hollande kisses up to him. Haaretz reports

Netanyahu criticized Palestinian efforts toward international recognition before a peace deal is reached, saying, “going to the UN with unilateral declarations is not negotiations. It’s the opposite of negotiations.”

Following talks with Netanyahu in Paris, Hollande called for an “unconditional” resumption of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. He added that France was still committed to a two-state solution in the Middle East but warned the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas against trying to force the issue unilaterally.

“There is the temptation of the Palestinian Authority to seek at the UN General Assembly that which it fails to obtain through negotiation,” he said, referring to Abbas’ plans to seek enhanced “non-member observer state” status at the UN for a Palestinian state. “Only negotiation can lead to a definitive solution to the situation of Palestine,” Hollande insisted.

What’s the opposite of “negotiations” is starving the people of Gaza and making incessant war (and imposing pain and privation on Palestinians generally).

Just as the USA/Israel is “supporting” negotiations with Iran by fighting a protracted quasi-war by assassination, cyber-war, and economic sanctions, and just as Israel is “supporting” peace negotiations with Palestine by its entire occupational stricture-structure and settlements program and nose-thumbing at UNSC and international war and human-rights law and international opinion, now come the Palestinians to “support” their negotiations with a little business in the UNGA.

And those long-term masters of extra-negotiational “support” USA and Israel have the GAUL to complain! Tsk, tsk, sirs.

“There is the temptation of the Palestinian Authority to seek at the UN General Assembly that which it fails to obtain through negotiation…”

Remind me, Hollande, you feckless wimp, did Ben Gurion negotiate with the Palestinians or did he go directly to the General Assembly in November 1947?

Take your time, I’ll wait…..

there are a few news stories recently eluding to abba’s trip to europe currying favor, i think he’s heading to the UN after the US elections .. and they all keep using this term. ‘unilateral’. unilateral is the way israel annexes territory. going to the UN for a vote is not unilateral.

The right wing Sarkozy supported Palestinian entry to UNESCO, yet the “Socialist” Hollande, it seems will not support their UNGA bid, very strange.

There are, and will not be, any “negotiations” until and unless the Palestinians are granted SOME rights internationally. Under the current Israeli administration, I truly do not believe that they have any interest at all in a just peace (never mind any peace) with their neighbors. They have thumbed their nose at every request the Obama administration has made.

Mr. Abbas is right in going to the UN. I wish him an his mission luck.

Hollande is a fool and a tool.
