Eh, I doubt Ms Geller gives a damn about being right. Her job is to fear-monger.
Happy Thanksgiving.
My thoughts exactly. They build a bit of left cover, with causes that are dear to progressives, and then the govt gets the excuse it wanted to shut down sections of the Internet.
"If he made the same kind of error in the business world, he would have been fired."
I don't think Friedman CARES about being right. People whose job it is to regurgitate crude establishment propaganda and cover it with a thin veneer of intellectualism don't have to worry about being right. Friedman's job is just to dissemble and obfuscate and provide administrations with the left cover they need to be as greedy and selfish as possible.
What really surprises me about Palestine, time and time again, is the inherent joy and charm of her children. Such devastation and hardship, and still so much resilience and hope. And all so adorable!
Thank you so much for this beautiful article, and best of luck to Iyad.
Great news, thanks very much :-)
Eh, for once he's right.
I am so sick and tired of Americans in particular and Westerners in general trying to take credit for the revolution in Egypt or Tunisia. It wasn't you. You had nothing to do with it. Not Twitter, not Facebook or MySpace or YouTube. It was Arab blood and Arab sweat and Arab tears, and don't you dare claim otherwise. Social media just made it easier for you to watch it.
Thanks, annie.
Thanks, annie {should have known you'd be the one to write about it :-) }
Last I've heard, they're trying again! I'm trying to read up on Malaysian news portals. Fingers crossed.
Is anyone on Mondoweiss covering the progress of The Spirit of Rachel Corrie?
Also, I don't know who the third one is!
James, your Witticisms are the only thing making RW's spewings bearable. Never stop.
You and Mooser need to get together and take this one down, Phil.
Shhh, annie. If we agree with him, he might go away!
Lovely post, Phil.
Now, now, MRW. What are you, some kinda conspiracy theorist? That was totes magotes OBL, don't you know we were RIGHT to send all those drones into Pakistan? Tsk tsk.
My thoughts and prayers to the poor Photoshopper who had to move his righteous mouse over every sinful, lust-inducing detail of Hillary's incomparable visage, every curve so skillfully disguised by her erotically androgynous pantsuit, every..........

Hi Citizen. I'm from Asia, most of my news is from Asian sources and I have some friends and family working in diplomacy and intelligence. Germany is APPARENTLY the prime target for a false-flag for sentimental reasons (you can guess), and because they've been relatively reluctant to be part of the Great Muslim WitchHunting Jamboree.
Rumours percolating that it's going to be Germany. Please God, no.
OT, but what the wha-? OBL is killed in Pakistan (what a convenient justification for the drone attacks), shot through the eye (just like in that picture from 2009), and then buried at sea in accordance with Islamic rites? I'm sure people better informed than me can correct me, but Islam is a desert religion. Since when do ANY desert cultures practise sea burials?
Final results of Ziocaine can also be approximated by standing outside an apartment block and having an Acme piano dropped on your head.
Wha-? Jon Stewart doesn't have a point, he's a fluffy Democratic Party-apologist. He's funny, but certainly no moral authority.
Katie Halper sounds lovely. Must YouTube her and see if anything turns up.
Lovely reply and I will be noting in down in my folder, but I believe piotr was being sarcastic :-)
Oh dear. I didn't actually mean for that to post. I did write it and clicked "Enter", but I thought better of it and clicked the red X STOP sign, and it did stop, so I thought it wouldn't have posted. I think that was a bit below the belt and I apologise.
That said, I refuse to be moralised to by a person whose Internet handle is Gay State Girl. Phil, if she doesn't like you, you're probably doing alright for yourself.
......
People read Witty's blog?
@Chaos,
This needs to happen. NOW.
"Israel is (far) from a fairytale"
Truer words were never spoken.
'Rorschach', sweet one, 'Rorschach'. Don't bother using the word if you can't be bothered to even look up the spelling.
That is absolutely what happened, RoHa.
There was also a short note:
"Mwahahahahaha, the Zionist pig-dogs will never know what hit them. XOXO ACKH-madinejad."
Congratulations to all the winners and massive props to Adam, annie and Phil for the hard work they put into this wonderful site.
"I would rather apologize at a later time to Mondo readers if this doesn’t pan out than to attack the credibility of a distraught woman saying she was gang raped as she was dragged away by security forces."
Perfectly fair.
Please don't take my comment as an endorsement of Gaddhafi. He's everything bad you've said about him, but I think with NATO intervention, this might turn into another Iraq, and am doubly suspicious of all information that seems like targeted propaganda.
**
Thanks again for your news round-up. I read them every morning to get my rage levels up :-)
Yeah, I'm having serious doubts about this woman in the hotel story. She bursts in, looking relatively unscathed for someone who's been gangraped, has JUST enough time to tell her story about having been raped by Gaddhafi's thugs, and then is dragged off?
This stinks of "Dirty Arab men don't know how to treat their women, and so we must bomb them, thereby liberating them from life itself. And then take over the oil fields."
Kuwaiti babies, anyone?
It goes without saying that rape is a weapon in any war, but this story really seems dreamed up to stoke enthusiasm for a military intervention.
@Cliff,
Tell the ocean not to throw itself on the rocks.
Great link, Ellen. Thanks.
Love the new news round-up format, Seham. Thank you so much for the hard work you put in.
EVERYDAY is make-up-your-own-facts day. A fact which I just made up.
"Qadhafi compares himself to Israeli war criminals."
Stylish AND self-aware. I like it.
They do deserve credit, just not quite in the way Tommy Boi imagines.
I couldn't watch more than 30 seconds, she seems so upset and he seems such a knob. But she's so perdy. Like, WOW.
(Phil, if you feel like doing a slightly fluffy piece, do one on John Galliano. What a disgusting creep. And the drunk defense? Honestly? I've been pissed before and I've never gone on a rant about Chinese people. Yeesh.)
Word. David Mitchell says it for me:

Seham, I close the tab and go look at shiny things, just so I don't write a response to them. I used to, but then I realised it sooooo wasn't worth the grief. Maybe if we agreed with them, they would leave?
Mooser, I have missed you so much, it's a bit indecent. THANK YOU.
Thanks, Taxi. Didn't know that about Press TV, will go and look it up now.
Seham, thanks very, very much, but don't stress yourself out about it! I'm going to root about Press TV and hopefully, I'll come up with something.
Is there a subtitled version anywhere on the internet? Pleasepleaseplease......
Yes, because you didn't see the next bit in which the Young Wanderer asks, "But how will I unite the land of Albion?" and Witty says "The answer, Young Prince, lies within your heart." and turns into an owl and flies off.
It's a moving scene.
MRW, are you American? Do you ever feel like you want her to win, just to see what would happen?
I have Firefox and it works fine for me. All YouTube videos stopped playing on my Firefox two weeks ago. I uninstalled that Ad Blocker Plus (something like that) thing and now I can watch all videos just fine.
I think his dad's of Irish descent, which might explain the "Maher" part of it.
He'd be such a good Republican if he'd put his mind to it.
I think you do deserve thanks. You and Phil and Adam and annie and all the people who contribute to this site do so much to provide an intelligent forum for discourse on I/P and the Middle East, and we are all very grateful.
I'll go over the links later, but just for now: Aaaaaiiiiieeeee, cute protesting baby!
Thanks very much for the roundup, Seham.
When are people going to learn that the great cities of the world do not exist to fulfill their touristy dreams?
It's a bit like how so many of the articles on the Egyptian revolution are obsessed with whether or not the artifacts are intact. Yes, historical preservation is important but for chrissake, there are real people with real lives involved and all you want to do is moan about the mummies?
I know. You'd think after all the effort Phil and Adam put into this site, they'd attract a higher class of trolls.
PG, that's not meant as a reply to me, right? Because I didn't say a word about Iran in my original comments and besides, I'm a huge supporter of Iran and of the common will of the Iranian people, not just of the Teheran yuppies.
He didn't do it all by himself, but he and his team of currency speculators and banksters bear a fair bit of responsibility for the 1997 currency crisis. Bad times, bad times. I'm not much of a writer and I won't try to explain it myself, but I do have a thumb-drive somewhere about with some good articles. I'll have a look around and try to get back to you on this.
*Please note, I am NOT a Mahathir supporter. Family members beaten, intimidated and jailed by that creep and his Ops Lalang.
I can't help but approach everything Soros says with a great deal of caution. He's not a principled man, and we've not forgotten what he and his cronies did to Southeast Asia. He's perfectly capable of paying a handsome tribute to the protesters in public and working against them in private.
God forbid the revolutionaries of Egypt don't write to your exacting standards. Go polish your monocle somewhere else.
Haven't the Palestinians suffered enough??!!
Frankly, I can't think of a better punishment for Zionists than to be forced to listen to this spotty teen. Warble away, Bieber.
This song is truly wonderful, even if you're not wild about rap, please give this a listen!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
*keels over*
Well, they should have thought of this before they BECAME Arabs! Mwahahahahaha!!
Crikey.
You're all dead wrong. He's heading for a glittering career as a greased-up Chippendale dancer at the Fox News parties.
I am, Seham! Thank you so much for all you do. I know it must be depressing to sift through so much terrible news every day but you and Kate do so much to bring awareness to the issues of the Middle East. I know sometimes when I'm done reading the roundups, I just need to shut off my laptop and go for a walk to prevent myself from smashing something.
Augh, I meant "stupider". How embarrassing.
They're 20 times stupid than Al Jazeera? Just a thought :-)
I'm not that much a fan of As'ad Abu Khalil at the Angry Arab but he says : "expect all remaining Arab leaders to perform pilgrimage to Qatar and prostrate before its Emir."
I laughed and cried.
Such a stunning, brave, intelligent girl and the courage and resilience of those men!
P.S . I especially love how at the end of the first video, you can the man man holding a cat with a sign that says "No MuBARK". Bark, geddit?
Absolutely, but constant vigilance is still necessary. It was a feature of the Bersih and Hindraf protests in Malaysia as well. Agents provocateurs were inserted into the peaceful crowd and when they got too close to their destination, they would start something, perhaps by hitting or throwing something at the Federal Reserve Unit, to justify using tear gas and water cannons on us. (Al-Jazeera's coverage on the protests was bangin'.) The thing is, WE know about the roles of such agents, but the majority of the TV-watching public doesn't. They'll just see protesters attacking the cops, who simply HAD to defend themselves. Ugh.
This is gorgeous, really hope to see more from this guy. Wow, that sounded like spam.
Nima Shirazi's written lots of good articles about the Iranian elections. I am so sick and tired of hearing about how the elections were stolen. No one outside of America, and probably Europe believes it. Neocons and neolibs are just butt-hurt that they spent all that money staging a fake revolution and it didn't work. Ack, spare me.
"Disgusting", you forgot "disgusting". I can't welcome it when I know that evil shrew and her minions are frantically working behind the scenes to keep Mubarak in power, or install an equally "friendly" dictator in his place.
I think we should welcome Hillary Clinton's statement on Egypt.
**
No, we shouldn't. She's a disgusting, unprincipled hack who blithely talks out of both sides of her mouth. Spare me, Hillary. Government officials SAY these things to soothe our justifiable rage, and then do all they can to subvert the will of the people. Everything Mubarak has inflicted upon his people was bankrolled by her and her ilk. The leopard hasn't changed his spots.
Two agnostic Jews, a recovering Catholic, and a Druze walk into a bar.
The bartender looks up and says "Get the hell out!".
Small joke for the Monday.
