i guess one could be called anti-insane, but it wouldn't be a negative thing... consider this similar....
the lopsidedness continues... surprise, surprise.... the usa is in a race to the bottom and doing very good at it too i might add...
5 million well connected south africaners.. one could say it would be hard to be as well connected as the jewish are to the political and business and banking structure in the usa... i know... this means i am anti- semite for saying such an outlandish thing, but the facts speak for themselves... jewish folks are way more connected then usual to politics, business and media then i think is generally the case with the rest of the minority groups in the usa, or canada where i live...
New "Fast Track" for Construction Permits in the Settlements
link to peacenow.org.il
as phil pointed out the other day, this reinforces the w&m idea of an israel lobby... what else explains getting the usa and congress to act like a bunch of morons??
i agree with you on the bully part - 80% bluff is probably how i see it...
it is much easier to pick on a weakling then it is a bully...
how much of this has to do with the usa protecting its own war criminals, bush, cheney and etc??? i am wondering if this is how it is being sold partly to the us congress...
here is greenwalds article on it..
link to salon.com
but donald, you haven't given you full name and therefore you aren't a legitimate voice according to richard witty who signs his full name.... you see, the type of insanity you are trying to communicate with is very over the top and always above reproach...
acknowledging the goldstone report would be a first step.. unfortunately people like yourself are unwilling to do even this...
the us/ palestinian ''''relationship''' is in name only.. only a fool would suggest it's anything more... when the usa decides to quit sucking on israels tootsies, a us/palestine relationship might be possible, but until then it is just a convenient excuse for continuing with the same bullshit and exposes the usa for the hypocrite it has always been, especially when it comes to the mid east dynamic...
oh, did i mention that' i hate to break it to you'?? what kind of stupid comment is that anyway???
Joe Lieberman is a complete doofus... anyone who voted, or votes for him must expect nothing in return, other then a 2 faced personality i suppose....
cheryl quote - 'I believe both Obama and Clinton want to see settlements end. This is their hurdle…they cannot do it alone. '
they are doing an incredibly piss poor job of communicating this to the american public if it's their goal as you suggest...
i am looking for a self sacrificing politician to state the obvious and quit bending over for israel... neither of these 2 are capable... maybe they will be, but so far nada...
i was wondering about that..... thanks for philling in the blanks...
speeches are what politicians give... meanwhile their actions or lack thereof are what one needs to pay attention to.... obama has brought a different attitude with his speeches, but the actions especially as self described 'peace broker in the mideast' are essentially unchanged... the usa remains in israels backpocket and we can thank obama for all the sweet words, but it doesn't change a thing...
America, stop sucking up to Israel
By Gideon Levy
link to haaretz.com
"In your posts, I don’t discern a respect (or respectful criticism) of the effort and struggle that the Israeli people went through in the course of becoming a viable state."
"...they don’t get the sense that you understand the long struggle of Zionism, acknowledged in your posting."
i am sure you say this about every person who disagrees with you and is jewish...
"""gideon levy, i don't get the sense that you understand the long struggle of zionism acknowledged in your writing... "" etc. etc..
they are all self hating jews, no doubt....
i agree andrewfelluss.. the fact phil is drawing this kind of attention speaks volumes... a voice that makes a difference and holds to a different position frightens many of these self appointed mouthpieces... they are paying attention! phil has something very relevant to say...
bds frightens you so go ahead and try to relabel it... think up something stupid as you have here, like lawlessnes! as if you are concerned about '''lawlessness''' lol...
cliff, i agree with your overview...
witty, i think you're a weasel, just like clinton... you are free to think what you want..
asking witty to face up to anything is asking too much... he ignores everyone and anyone with different views then his own and when directly questioned he almost always disappears... honesty is not something he is familiar with... it is somewhere much lower on the alter then zionism which he serves regularly...
nomi998 - the new witty with much less finesse.. this article is specifically for people like you!
u-turn st..... might be a better name for them..
witty has left the building again... this happens a lot when folks respond to him!
if witty was capable of asking the same objective questions to the zionists who are always spinning shit he would have a modicum of integrity.. as it is, he is only capable of questioning those he doesn't agree with and leads others to assume he agrees with those he doesn't question... so i would ask witty the same question :Is that car sales repping or honesty?"
as MRW points out, you can always read and follow HuffPo, Daily Kos, and toothless, terrified sites like the once-interesting Crooks & Liars if you insist...
weird.... witty must be sleeping in as he didn't get the first comment in!
short response - beware false labeling...
chaos - these labels ( liberal, zionism etc. etc.) are used to define others as much as they are used to trick others into thinking certain ways.... better to skip over them and respond to things as they come up, not getting sidetracked with the labeling that gets done one way or the other... i don't view witty as 'liberal' either, but if he wants to label himself as such, so be it... anyone paying attention to his commentary here will be able to decipher the difference in his labeling and his position and be able to make their own distinctions... it is the same thing with saying someone is a zionist.. we have went thru this a zillion times with some folks using the 'anti-semite' label as well... most of these words are trick labels where one has to pay more attention to the content to see what is actually being said... marketing 101 i guess... pay attention to the labeling and don't believe a word you read..
as much as i generally always disagree with wittys viewpoint, i agree with d and colin on this one.. no need for hostility towards witty or anyone here in spite of differences..
and the usa.....
we'll have to show sympathy to you given how you're a victim of your leadership as well.... i hope it isn't contagious, although witty seems to have it too...
""Israel`s hands are clean.."" you are not paying attention my friend... spreading ignorance here won't work...
zionism is in fact the opposite of what you suggest witty.. it is a very narrow worldview...
better for her to work for a modern day version of the nazis...
focus on the distinctions all you want, most people are going to see more parallels with israel and south africa, then they are going to see the differences... this is especially upsetting to those interested in supporting the racist state of israel but too bad...
'Blair isn’t in a position to condemn Israelis for war crimes because he is a war criminal himself.' that is it in a nutshell...
true, but at least their is an appearance of opacity in examining the usa's war crimes in iraq, specifically abu graib.. with israel, it is exactly as us_objector outlines in their last paragraph... avoidance and evasion, with sweet talking bullshit hoping to keep the lid on everything dirty...
apparently the fanatics get to decide who is or isn't..... this is one of the rules out of the fanatics handbook....
fanatics are like that.... they turn on their own regularly...
people wear cloths to fit in...walk around naked and see where it will get you...
same with nationality, religion and etc... if we lived in a society free of this, we could be free of it... perhaps that is the dilemma mooser intuitively recognizes... now off to the next costume ball, lol...
witty do you plan on reading this book?
it is about who gets to write the history... blair and company are working hard to present a history at odds with reality.... they mostly have the same lines down... stories like the one you are sharing are not included in the history as they would mean complete dishonesty on the part of these same bullshit history purveyors...
evasive..... he is saying everyone is responsible including the international community, but it is hot air that he is unwilling to back up...
Psychopathic god, aside from announcing your deep fanatacism which i assume it directly connected to your zionism, it was nice of you to hearken back to the mid 70's... looking at what that shitty little state of israel is wrecking on it's neighbor in the present is no where near as pleasant to consider... brute is a good word to define you...
chaos4700 - i think the mondoweiss site is freaking them out! they are disturbed at the thought of a contrary view to their own... zionism has thrived by keeping an alternate view from getting out... mondoweiss is an outlet for an alternate view and it disturbs these same intolerant folks mightily..
the best way to respond to hissy posts zionist position is to boycott the site... she's a propaganda outlet for zionism... why support that unless you are for zionism??
witty quote ... "Better that things are unfair but without war."
witty has it occurred to you that wars usually take place when things are as unfair?? think about it.... i don't know if you have...
witty, would you answer a question in a relatively direct manner for me? do you find it hypocritical that iran is always being pressured with anything around nuclear power, but that israel is never under pressure on this same issue while having nuclear weapons???
do you find that hypocritical?
i and many others around the world do.. my impression of you is that you rubber stamp every position that israel holds to... i am curious if you are okay with this particular issue as it relates to israels opacity on nuclear weapons..
as a sidenote - the british changed the rules in the game of chess when they went to india...
it's a healthy way to think (flipping the tables) wondering jew, but you'll have few takers.. the attachment to one viewpoint is so strong it blinds people...
yes, it will never be about double standards!!! american politicians are directly responsible for dumbing down americans... this is just a small part of it.... see sin hombres post for more details!
that ain't going to happen... unless it can be used for more propaganda of course...
silencing any form of opposition by throwingthem in jail?? israel wants to be seen as a modern democracy? give me a break...
they have a name for it when it involves the jews and israel.... a self hating jew is the term i believe....
if these folks wanted to look to the future they wouldn't be reminding us of the holocaust at every step would they??? either that or you are an anti-semite before you say anything, just in case you say something that doesn't serves israels narrow racist interests....
make that with a double ss at the end, lol...
ed fracas, lol...
my apologies - donald, not david!
david - you have it exactly.. double standards are the norm.. i'm sure witty would approve..
this is good news... if it's a choice between fox news and this site, i am siding with this site! i know folks like witty probably choose the former, lol.... any chance that rupert murdoch will have a change of heart? probably not as it would affect his pocket book too much!
ed frias - perhaps you'd like to list all the other reasons that you're a racist... you have just scratched the surface here! tell us why israel is only for jews and how it isn't racist....or perhaps you would like to articulate why israel is racist, but that it is justified..... take yer pick....
you epitomize a narrow fanatical view - the same one you are trying to get rid of in the other side.... can you see the problem with this approach? fanaticism breeds fanaticism and it has found a friend in you... you are an unhappy person - that much is obvious..
edwin, i think you have summed up Ed_Frias really well... he is a racist.. in order to understand ed frias is to be able to understand what it is like to be a racist where the jewish race is the superior race and that israel is for the jews only and on and on and on... thanks...
may as well call the national post “Goebbels” then, as it isn't news coverage! it's just a propaganda rag that i thought you would like!!!
the national post came into existance with a fanatical nut case - conrad black who passed the baton over the canwest global ( the asper family - a wealthy jewish family from winnipeg who control a good chunk of media here in canada) and us ''normal' folks got to watch a paper burn itself into the ground with bullshit right wing ideology... for what it's worth one of the things i also detested about the national post was its love for everything american... that is another part of the scary movement to the right here in canada... we apparently need to be more like the nuts to the south of us...
as for canuck nationalism, we tend to not get caught up in all the rah rah, we are the greatest country in the world, patriotism and all the rest of that rot as it is generally pretty counter productive... we can always look to the south to see the pitfalls in leading a country blindy into the ditch with the same sense of nationalism, or patriotism as the folks in the usa like to call it... you can keep it, lol...
for a more neutral view on canada, check out the globe and mail which is really the only canuck national newspaper... the national post tries, but they are a horrible imitation of anything resembling anything to do with the majority here in canada.
aside from the obvious lie that always gets repeated , does israel really want to present itself as being opposed to free speech at the UN?? it sure sounds like it!!!
"The same U.N. that allows the president of a country to announce on a podium its aspiration to destroy the State of Israel has no right to teach us about morality," Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin said, referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
the usa worked hard to discredit the un prior to war on iraq... now we have israel trying to discredit the un for different reasons... surely they must see the folly in their words and actions here... apparently they think most people are stupid...
coveting others property has never been all that peaceful when you think about it...
as a canuck, that is my impression as well... harper is a descent into darkness, or an open attempt to be in bed with these same lunatics...
invest in settling israel in east jerusalem for example???
news via the internet is an area of interest to me... google is big in this area and it is said to be partly run by a person of jewish background.. google has a lot of clout at the moment.. another area of interest to me is 'money'.... who owns the federal reserve, or is calling the shots at large '''american'' banks???? money buys influence.. if we are looking for fairness or equality, it will be difficult if this isn't considered as well..
come now witty.. once upon a time a tooth ferry left something under your pillow, but to still believe in tooth ferries is a bit uncharacteristic of a discerning mind... perhaps you left yours somewhere while making this comment...
here is a video making the rounds of my jewish friend..
So You Want to Boycott Israel?
link to youtube.com
modern day gestapo techniques.... interesting how the jewish culture wants to perpetuate something it was supposed to be abhorred with..
>>If your goal is rub people’s noses in it (rather than change people and institutions), then the boycott effort should be assertively opposed by anyone that describes themselves as humanist.<<If israels goal is rub people’s (palestinians) noses in it (rather than change people and institutions), then israel should be assertively opposed by anyone that describes themselves as humanist.
one could possibly accept this pr if it was an opinion piece but it is not!! it may as well be a paid advertizement by aipac of the idf!
alice - you hit the nail on the head! this is the truth that needs to continually be told to the israel leadership, but i don't believe they are listening...
apparently israels courts thinks differently... it's citizens hold responsibility for their courts actions at this point and it ain't pretty...
this highlights how laws aren't about justice so much as they are about who gets to control what...this is especially the case in a fascist regime which israel is displaying a continued move towards... it is very disturbing to see previous victims of cruelty and atrocities inflict the same on others when the situation is reversed...
we are on the other side of a very slippery slope while mainstream israeli and us culture seem oblivious to where this is headed... kudos for her to addressing this very troubling issue, expecially in light of her related position to netanyahu..
funny! what will happen to all those who are so attached throwing around anti-semite labels and such?
or link to haaretz.com
link to jpost.com
Soon playing everywhere. ... lets hope so!!!
Israeli intimidation seems to say it all... that is what israel as a country has come down to... hard to hold a positive image of oneself if that is a prime characteristic of ones country..
there is something very wrong with the way israel responds to peaceful protests and protesters.. it suggests israel is unable to come to terms view different viewpoints.. it suggests that israel has become very rigid, hardened and inflexible in its response to peaceful protest.. rachel corries life is one of the clearest moments of insight into this aspect of israels character and must really eat at considerate and thoughtful israeli citizens or those advocating on it's behalf at present..
thanks for sharing..
he is putting his own country first, but it happens to be israel, not the usa.. he would be called a traitor anywhere else..
i guess when the idf went into gaza this past january it wasn't a terrorist move as they gave advance warning and it is a government made decision... with the advance notice all those palestinians had the option of what???
there has been a concerted effort to demonize roger cohen on the part of somethat i have noted now for the past 6 months or so... that must mean he really has something relevant to say and is getting under a number of peoples skin.. that's the polite way of putting it...
they don't want to close the door on potential or real financial support for their 'next' altruistic* 'made in the usa' political campaign...
as was mentioned in a post yesterday ..."" has once again laid bare the rule of law’s true state in Israel: racist and applying a double-standard, with separate legal systems for Jews and Arabs.…"" those israeli courts just can't help themselves can they??
""separate legal systems for Jews and Arabs"".... that about says it all, defining israel as a racist state for anyone paying attention..
LeaNder thanks also for your comments..
she's a politician, and incapable of calling a spade a spade...
i meant school of the americas.. my mistake..
when i think west point i think of cia training grounds, noreiga and wonderful characters like that who have come out of west point..
shame is what someone may feel when they look back and acknowledge they were very wrong about something...it requires a conscience.. some folks are incapable of feeling shame, and then there are those who think it is beneath them to ever feel such, as they are too weak in character to acknowledge such... shame is what most would feel in light of uri averny's words "There were days when we could stand up anywhere in the world and proudly declare “I am an Israeli”. No one can do that now. The name of Israel has become mud."
seham - thanks... do you know what happened to the post i made?? i don't see it here anymore...
thanks for this post... i really enjoyed the musical components with the man singing at the start and the rapper group later on in the video.. the destruction of buildings in pretty appalling, but the damage at the hospital is every more disturbing... it is strange to see a 7 minute video of a different country which shows many people moving around, but only once at about 6:10 into the video does on see a 'women'.. it would tend to support the quote from your post "Journalist Fares Akram told me that he worried many Gazans were too pre-occupied with their own problems that they wouldn’t complain that Hamas was demanding female mannequins be removed from shop windows. It is a slow but deliberate implementation of sharia." i probably find this the most disturbing feature of the video... not sure what can be said about this other then that they need to be brought into the world community as opposed to being treated inhumanly and being cut off... thanks again for the post...
good luck with the new posting format.. i appreciate all your articles here and hope the comment section can run in a friendly conversational tone, rather then where it's sometimes gotten to..
picking and choosing is a favourite pastime of those on the right and the left... greater honesty when quoting someone would be nice... people change over the course of their life.. what someone says when they are young might be quite different when they are older...
