He ain't getting my vote, that's for sure, good looking dude or not. He's actually an utter fake.
If she is only concerned with domestic economics, then she should simply shut up and not spout ignorant words on Iran or Israel. I just wrote to her to ask her to get informed outside the MSM before she speaks, or else....she loses my vote.
Good riddance! It cannot get much worse.
I ordered the Isaacson book but have not read it yet. I watched the 60-minutes segment last Sunday in which Isaacson was interviewed about his book. On Jobs' father, it seems that Jobs was turned off because when unknowingly dining at his father's restaurant more than once actually, his father (not knowing that Jobs was his son but knowing who Jobs was) flouted to Jobs how much money he had made, how much money he had, and all the good things he was able to afford, etc. That is the part that turned Jobs off, and I can understand why since Jobs did not like to flaunt his wealth and lived a pretty low-key life by Silicon Valley standards. Nothing to do with religion.
seafoid, this sums it up in one grand master stroke. I couldn't have said it better.
Welcome!
Hallucinating.
Thanks annie. Refreshing doesn't always work, I tried that.
I'm not very literate computer-wise (and otherwise:)). My only problem is with posting a comment to begin with. Say I read comments to posts all the way to the bottom and click on the "log-in to reply." I'm then prompted for my login info. So far so good. But after I log in, it takes me back to the top of the page and I have to click again on "add one." With Firefox, that doesn't even work and I often drop the whole thing out of sheer frustration (I'm using Safari this minute).
Other than that, I wouldn't change the appearance that I like very much. A searchable library that others have suggested is a great idea. My two cents...Thanks for all you do.
I was infuriated to hear that my Governor, Deval Patrick recently went to Israel to promote business ties between businesses in that country and businesses in Massachusetts, especially in the life sciences.
Interesting perspective. A little far fetched perhaps?
Isn't Juan Cole the first one to have coined the word "squatters"?
Thanks for passing this around. Just got tickets for Budrus.
Very moving. Thank you!
Something weird is going on here. Either it is an attempt to scuttle the talks that are about to begin, or Hamas is losing control of its armed militia. However, I would tend to disagree with Ahmed about the morality of the act. Settlers are armed to the teeth and behave like goons. They attack Palestinians regularly, sometimes even killing them, yet they always claim the moral high ground.
Thank you for your very well reasoned and compassionate article. The Lebanese Government is currently considering the expansion of Palestinian refugees' "rights" in Lebanon: Right of ownership, expanded list of permitted "jobs", resident permits, etc. As would be expected, many in the Christian camp are totally opposed, for fear that this would signal the end of the right of return, and the integration of the refugees, a majority of whom are Sunni Muslims, into the Lebanese demographics, thereby wreaking havoc in an already fragile sectarian "balance." More grist for the mill...
My sister visited the Burj Brajneh camp yesterday. She was accompanying a friend who teaches English to children of varying ages. She sent me some harrowing pictures of very narrow and dark alleys with an incomprehensible number of electric and presumably phone lines dangling everywhere like spaghetti, and inviting electrocution and fire hazards any minute of the day or night. Graffiti and torn posters are everywhere. But you look at the eyes of these children and all you can do from a distance is weep.
Yeah, problem is libertarians don't appeal to me except for their anti-war stance. And you're right, Arab money is toxic but there are ways to hide it.
I may be slightly off topic here but I've always wondered, as an AY-RAB American (Lebanese) why the Ay-RABS who have $$ up to their f....a....h's don't counter AIPAC by flooding Congress with their petro-dollars. Anyone has a clue?
I shared this article by Juan Cole this morning on my Facebook page:

Perhaps if more people posted articles such as this one on FB, twitter, and the like.....
Alf Mabrouk! Congratulations, it's exhilirating.
Yeah, just like the Barracuda from Wichita.
Thank you for the reporting. It is heartwarming and gives me a glimmer of hope for the besieged Palestinians. The French have a long history of street protests and lots of experience. I lived in Paris for 20 years and saw the action up close, often stuck in traffic for hours. They are the masters and we should emulate them and take to the streets more often and in greater numbers.
No wonder he will never be released. This man speaks truth to power. How unbearable!
I think that you are all missing the point. I see this as a willful strategy to ignore the elephant in the room, the Palestinians. Why bother speaking their language, they simply don't exist. It's like the US army going into Iraq or Afghanistan without the least bit of knowledge into the local mores and cultures. Almost all the local Palestinians (as opposed to the diaspora), i.e., inhabitants of the West Bank, East Jerusalem (the few that remain) and Gaza speak fluent Hebrew. Not many Israelis speak Arabic.
In the general sense, Church with a big C. Rare individuals don't have any weight. It's Church doctrine dictated from on high that counts.
Since when did the Church stand up to anything regarding I/P? All they do is grovel.
And that is why NPR still doesn't get a dime from me.
