I just want to register the fact that a couple of close friends of mine have sincerely said they think Obama is like Jesus. These are people who are familiar with the historical Jesus, and think, This is what it must have looked like back then when Jesus came along. There is clearly a religious feeling around Obama's inner line of support, a cult unto death, and a religious feeling too among his peripheral gaga-supporters–people like me: the hope that he might save America/the world with a new definition of lovingkindness. Also I'd note that his presence, which is vulnerable, a little frail, energetic, feminine, is Jesuslike.
