Adam Horowitz reports:
IDT is a telecommunications company based in New Jersey. Here's a piece about Howard Jonas, the guy behind IDT, in the Forward back in 2002. Jonas is a big philanthropist–to Jewish causes.
Interestingly, the Forward says nothing about support for crazies on the West Bank. But the IDT Charitable Foundation (and also the Jonas Family Foundation, c/o IDT) is named in federal filings by the Central Fund of Israel, the nonprofit housed in a fabric store on 6th Avenue that provides money to settler militias.
And that's not IDT's only involvement in the illegal settlements. According to IDT's own federal filings, collected at guidestar.org, here are other orgs its Charitable Foundation supports:
–Two settlements in Jerusalem connected to Irving Moskowitz: first, the American Friends of Beit Orot–
defending the sacred traditions of our nation, the physical security of
Eretz Yisrael and the integrity of Yerushalayim as the undivided
capital of Israel and the Jewish people.
–Then, the American Friends of Ateret Cohanim;
–The American Friends of Mercaz Harav Kook, a center of the religious settler movement;
–And the former settlements in Gush Katif (Gaza); and the settlement in Gush Etzion; the Hebron Fund; and the One Israel Fund.
