The organizers of the Boston Palestine Film Fest asked us to pass this along:
The fourth annual Boston Palestine Film Festival opens tonight at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston at 7 pm and runs through October 10 at venues across the city. The festival features films from around the world by and about Palestinians. This year’s program includes a range of compelling and thought-provoking documentaries, dramatic features, rare early works, and new films by emerging artists and youth. These films from international directors bring an honest, self-described, and independent view of Palestine and its diasporic society, culture, and political travails.
A full schedule of programs, as well as tickets, can be found here.
Tonight, Opening Night, come hear Director MIchel Khleifi, the “father of Palestinian cinema,” discuss Zindeeq, the Opening Night Film, at the MFA at 7 pm.
Saturday, October 2, Khleifi will also comment after another showing of an earlier film of his, Canticle of the Stones. And he will participate with other Palestinian filmmakers in a broader panel discussion at the Harvard Film Archive on the Future of Palestinian Cinema from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
There is also a Boston Debut of the virtuoso ‘oud group Le Trio Joubran, composed of 3 brothers from Nazareth who are fourth-generation ’oud masters, on Thursday, October 7 at the Somerville Theatre. And a comedy show, and much much more!
Those in the Boston area who wish to learn more about the issues discussed here — the festival is a great opportunity!
