As anyone can see, the discourse in the U.S. and Israel is a complete mess these days.
In Israel, the prime minister is trying to gut the legal system, and there are massive protests in the streets to save the Jewish democracy, whatever Jewish democracy means, and the prime minister gets rushed to the hospital for an emergency heart operation. But he promises to go back to the parliament tomorrow to push through judicial reforms that most Jews hate.
So it’s Jews against Jews in the streets of Jerusalem. Because non-Jews don’t count there. No, they just get shot at and removed from their lands.
The U.S. discourse is almost as bad. The House votes 412-9 to say, No Israel is not an apartheid and racist state — an emperor’s new clothes moment if ever there was one — and the liberal Zionists go all in on the Republican bill so as to flay a progressive Congressperson who made the mistake a few days prior of telling protesters the truth– “Israel is a racist state”. Because Joe Biden needs the Israel lobby to come together left and right.
Even as support for Israel is crumbling inside the Jewish community, with dedicated Zionists Martin Indyk and Aaron David Miller calling for reducing aid to Israel in the New York Times. Finally. Because we need to save the Jewish state, which is an apartheid state.
What a mess.
So it’s with pride that I say the pro-Palestinian left has got its act together and is gaining traction in the West. Our Palestine news director Yumna Patel made this point during a Zoom session our bureau did with the Jerusalem Fund.
When is the mainstream media going to get on board? Jehad Abusalim asked. Patel said:
“The work of alternative media organization and institutions like Mondoweiss, and also of course the rise of social media has given Palestinians the ability to finally be heard on the international stage and not have to wait for the mainstream media to give them the opportunity to speak. What’s standing in the way of the mainstream media getting on board? I don’t know, but I also don’t think we have to wait for them to get on board. I think that we’ve made incredible strides when it comes to portraying the Palestinian narrative as accurately and with as much justice to the cause as possible, without the help of the mainstream media. I hope that they get on board but if they don’t that’s fine too.”
Yes, the Palestinian story is making great inroads at last. No wonder everyone else is in such disarray!
Thanks for reading.

Holy cow….. Better late than never I guess. Or they are just trying to put themselves on the right side of history at the last minute.
The only main stream host I have heard who reported more closely to the facts have been Velshi

Indyk was just (July 24) on Andrea Mitchell’s noon program. He suggested Israel should wean themselves off of U.S. aide which he said was 1% of their GDP.
“What is standing in the way of challenging the narrative?” No more important question to address.
The understanding that Israel provokes reactions for its advantage is fundamental. Why take the bait? The battle is for the western media and mind, not reacting/confronting to the IDF or settlers on their terms.
To have a chance at being effective, especially internationally, the PA must function as a government, have a “one gun” authority…. and be expected by those they are to represent to allow quality elections.
Where there is no vision, dreams have and will die.
One state or two? End apartheid or independence?
Meanwhile the US mainstream media is STILL tripping over itself to give Netanyahu prime airtime to spew, spin, and spread lie after lie, shameless propaganda and Zio-splain everything to the American people… unchallenged by these so-called “hosts”.
They just can’t help themselves. They’re so tethered, indoctrinated, and tied to the past that they can’t see that the public opinion has completely shifted and the ground has move under their feet or that there even is another point of view to be had. One that hasn’t been fed to them by their handlers at AIPAC and the like.
Why do they constantly ignore the brown voices on this issue? If the subject was anything but Israel the mainstream media would have Jayapal, or Tlaib, of Omar, or AOC, or that amazing team at Mondoweiss, Electronic Infatada, or HRW and Amnesty to explain why they have such positions. Yet all we get is the one-sided Zio-splaining and hasbara from lily white Netanyahu, his lily white cabinet, his lily white ambassadors, and his lily white unregistered foreign agents in the US from AIPAC, ADL, ZOA, J Street and the rest of the alphabet soup of Zionist supremacy.
