We must support Dr. Rabab Abdulhadi, who has been systematically undermined by the administration of San Francisco State University for her work championing Palestinian liberation

A few years ago it felt like Roger Waters might be blacklisted by Israel supporters over his support for Palestine. But this summer he is filling stadiums around the country talking about Palestinian liberation.

Israel and its proxies in Washington are stepping up their efforts to promote war against Iran in response to the increasingly positive outlook for a renewed Iran Nuclear Deal. Their arguments, however, can be easily debunked.

The liberal Zionist organization J Street is adamantly opposed to BDS, the nonviolent boycott campaign targeting Israel, and proudly declares that it is “Pro-Israel.” But one of its student leaders evidently disagrees with the organization. Eliana Blumberg supports BDS and says that the effort to say that being “pro-Israel means being pro-democracy, not pro-apartheid” is “futile.”

Civic leader Ruth Messinger says that the large sums of “secret” money being spent by AIPAC-aligned superpacs on congressional races to defeat progressives who are critical of Israel such as Donna Edwards and Yuh-Line Niou makes Americans think “less well of Jews.” While digital media expert Mik Moore says the money has “perverted” the political process and punished the “boldest” progressives.

Gen Z Democratic candidate for Congress Maxwell Frost seems to be a progressive in every way imaginable — except for Palestine. The 25-year-old Florida politician presents a particularly distressing dilemma for progressive Palestine advocates. His politics are not just progressive, but almost revolutionary in mainstream politics. And he is being celebrated by prominent Democrats. 

AIPAC funneled money to a New York Super PAC to help defeat progressive candidate Yuh-Line Niou over her position on BDS.

U.S. Liberal Zionists have now upped the pressure on the Biden administration to condemn Israel’s “persecution” of Palestinian human rights group, by issuing statements that Israel’s declaration of the groups as terrorist is “baseless.” Let’s hope J Street victorious NY endorsees Jerry Nadler and Jamaal Bowman now join other Congresspeople in condemning the action.

Israeli PM Yair Lapid’s unprovoked attack on Gaza that killed 17 children was part of a “good debut” for him with Israeli voters in his race against Netanyahu, says Tal Shalev of Walla News. Lapid faces the “hatred” of rightwing media, who echo Netanyahu’s racist talking point, Lapid can only form the next government with Palestinian parties. Lapid plays along by calling the Palestinian parties “extremist”.

A recent J Street critique of AIPAC encapsulates the moral bankruptcy of liberal Zionism.
