The Biden administration plans to station Marines on commercial ships in the Persian Gulf. This could trigger war with Iran, but most of the mainstream U.S. press is not paying attention.
Trump says Israel used him to attack Iran, and Netanyahu was “willing to fight Iran to the last American soldier.” That ought to be big news– especially as Israel’s defense minister gets unrivaled access in Washington and pushes war to block the Iran deal. But only the leftwing press is focused on Israel’s efforts to spark another war.
Even as Israel attacked an Iranian cargo ship in the Red Sea, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu used a speech at the Israeli Holocaust memorial to warn the world that a deal with Iran was “useless,” akin to making a deal with Nazis, and that Israel would take into its own hands its security against the “existential” threat that he claims Iran poses.
Israel’s self-perception as forever-threatened is an unshakable psychological constant justifying attack on perceived enemies, Emad Moussa explains. Fear, anger, and vengeance are directed at what Israelis see as a Nazi replacement, anyone who presents a threat to the state of Israel. Iran replaced Iraq as Iraq replaced Egypt, and Palestinians – always.
You can watch the cable news networks for hours without stumbling across a single report about Iran. Which means that if the U.S. and Israel do attack before 12 noon on January 20, or if a tragic accident amid the tightened tensions in the regions triggers an outbreak of violence, the American public will have no idea of what just happened.
Israel has a hidden motive to kill Iranian nuclear scientist: to destroy any possibility of Joe Biden renewing the Iran deal, and “cripple” his ability to make policy. But you can’t say this inside the Beltway.
A nuclear scientist was just assassinated inside Iran, probably by Israel with Trump administration connivance — but, so far, the New York Times is distorting the news.
