‘Conservative’ Is Becoming the ‘C-Word’

by Philip Weiss on February 7, 2008 · 12 comments

Remember when liberalism was the l-word? The left was in the doghouse. Things are changing fast. Through the tireless efforts of the n-worders (neoconservatives), conservatism has a bad name. dailykos reports

money is flowing like lava to Democrats, not the Republicans. Between the two Democratic camps, they have now raised approximately $15 million dollars online since midnight on Tuesday. With enthusiasm like that, it’s a good time to be a Democrat. Especially when you consider that all of this happens on the same day when the candidate preferred by big money Republicans called it quits…John McCain raised $7 million total during the month of January.

McCain is sure to run away from the c-word the rest of the year. No wonder Rush Limbaugh is freaking out. His reign is ending.

Progressive democrats are excited that Obama raised 7 million dollars in the last two days. And these guys are sitting there with 250 million dollars to throw into the ring. What chance do we have?

The pity is, there is less than 5 cents' difference between the candidates being "offered". Zionism will not be challenged, nor will Israel's "right to defend" itself (read: ethnically cleanse the Occupied Territories). Nor will American Imperialism be challenged (700+ military bases in 130-some countries). Nor will out-sourcing American jobs be challenged. When will Americans wake up and reject the politics of fear and their own "exceptionalism"?

Limbaugh doesn't decline when there's a Democrat in the White House. That's when he pulls out all the stops and attacks full bore. It's when the Republican have the presidency that he has to pull his punches. Remember his complaining last year that he was tired of carrying water for Bush? He won't have that problem with Clinton or Obama. He'll be in hog heaven.

Yes, not a nickel's difference, and America will be sorry.

Personally I always found the inherent idiocy of simplifying a person's complicated opinions on a variety of subjects – idiotic.

Looking at myself as an example, on many issues I am progressive, on some conservative, and on a few openly fascist.

You simply cannot describe me (or anybody else for that matter, really) as a liberal or a conservative.

This is just games that the media and establishment play to dumb us down and limit the conversation about actual issues, and getting it into the kindergarten level of debate.

Yo mamma, lib!
Screw you, con!

Sigh….

this from a guy who writes for the American Conservative

I'm with amgoy on this.

The interesting thing about Weiss is that he writes for The Nation AND the American Conservative, and lots of journals in between.

Weiss is simply an Uncle Tom Jew at the American Conservative. As soon as he starts to approach issues with American Jewry in a more sophisticated manner he will be of no use to Taki and company. But hey, Phil's got a new mortgage and needs to pay the bills so he will do what he needs to do to provide for him and his family.

If Weiss is an Uncle Tom Jew, who are the real Africans here, and who dies so they say write so?

Yeah jessup critiquing the Lobby is a real gold mine. Just look at everyone cashing in. Next thing you know, I bet Phil will be at the New York Times.
