I can be a flake. Thus my historical post re Georgia this morning. I'm not taking it back, but the intimacy of the relationship between Georgia and Israel is weird and whacked. Here's charismatic president Mikheil Saakashvili playing Groucho Marx for Haaretz in Tbilisi:

As far as I can tell, in almost any international conflict, the side that Israel is not on are "the good guys."
"Feith and Rove brought us Iraq, Kezerashvili and Yakobashvili brought us Russia. Are Dual loyalties good for Israel?
Maybe good for its defense industry and giving employment to ex military personnel.
But the results are increasing amounts of hardened warriors ready to fight Israel. And what would those Israelis be doing if they couldn’t sell arms and advise on war tactics?
They could write blogs, teach cooking or anything else.
The dual loyalists in the public eye are just part of the story, there are also those hidden and unknown but also with influence.
Iraq now has millions of hardened warriors capable of fighting Israel. So has dual citizenship outlived itself?
There are even cases of non Jews forging their Jewishness to get Israeli absorption rights.
Perhaps these are post Zionist times, and no more wars for Israel is right, but now; because it is bad for Israel.
Post Zionism would suggest no more cohorts, cheerleaders or blind supporters.
Post Zionist because Jews are no longer immigrating to Israel. The only international ties left are ‘organised Judaism’, sounds a bit mafia like…"

Do you guys notice that Russia is a LARGE imperial power, occupying another state?
If there is a parallel here with Israel/Palestine, it is that Russia and most powers will tolerate very little dissent, and will press hard to contain it.
If anything, it paints Israel as moderate relative to Palestine, at least compared to Russia, or China, or India even.

Like almost everything there is usually more than one agenda involved when you have mutiple players in action.
I don't think anyone can say right now exactly what Israel's involvement in Georgia is except Georgia was a major client for their weapons exports. Georgia having some Jewish ministers and remaining jewish population might also have been a factor since Jewishness is a cause celebe with Israel.
What I see as an emerging pattern in more and more events is Israel, having firmly attached itself to the US superpower, believing it to be a bottomless pit of money and power, now putting itself forward as an equal or jr. partner and/or player on the global stage. They piggyback, encourage and even instigate some US ploys when it is to their advantage or advances their interest.
This US-Isr intertwining in particular is going to end up with this octopus strangling it's own self.
When the US set itself up as the world foremost super power and "capitalism spreader" and congress began to see it's role as masters of the universe instead of guardians of America we opened ourselves up to death by a thousand cuts from interest of US elite capitalism to Israeli and other foreign influences.
I could say more but why bother,..look around…it can't last. Even if the US should manage to pull it's nuts out of the international fires of our foreign policy it won't be a long term cure because the underlying convoluted ideas of what now constitutes American interest and the role of our government will still be there.
It won't and can't last and the only question is whether it will end with the famous whimper or bang.
The bottom line is what maintains a super power is money and resources, that's all. When the US taxpayer can no longer support it and our debt holders realize that, it ends. As it is now 10% of total US tax income revenues and our tax dollars goes to service "just the interest" on US debt.
And yet as just the small example of Georgia shows…it continues…with borrowed dollars exported to maintain the master of the universe role and the interest of certain elite capitalist segments. I have watched this for decades waiting for the chickens to come home to roost. I don't see any reversal on the US political stage since our choices are more neoconism with McCain or neoliberal interventionalism with Obama.

How Taxpayer Money Is Wrapped Up in Georgia
A little-reported fact is that American tax dollars were used to help fund big oil projects in the region.
So, how is U.S. taxpayer money bound up in all of this?
It has to do with the role of the two government agencies, the Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im) and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), that lend money to private companies doing business overseas.
These agencies exist to promote U.S. business abroad, which they do by giving loans and guarantees for projects that are too big or, in many cases, too risky for the tastes of private banks and financiers."
All you need to notice about our so called democracy is that the taxpayer's treasury finances projects that are 'too risky" for big Bizness.
American, you got that right–but who cares? Foreign affairs or
the investment banking industry–they all suck blood from the All-American child and the child's child.
