Shades of ‘Exodus,’ Boat to Sail from Cyprus to Gaza and Test Siege

The great Jeff Halper is planning to sail in a few days on one of several Free Gaza boats aimed at breaking the siege:

Because Israel has no right to besiege a civilian population, it has no
legal right to prevent us, private persons sailing solely in
international and Palestinian waters, from reaching Gaza – particularly
since Israel has declared that it no longer occupies it.

Once the
Israeli navy is convinced we pose no security threat, then, we
thoroughly expect it to permit us to continue our peaceful and lawful
journey into Gaza port.

Ordinary people have often played key roles in history,
particularly in situations like this where governments shirk their
responsibilities. My voyage to Gaza is a statement of solidarity with
the Palestinian people in their time of suffering, but it also conveys
a message to my fellow citizens.

First, despite what our political leaders say, there is a political
solution to the conflict, there are partners for peace. The very fact
that I, an Israeli Jew, will be welcomed by Palestinian Gazans makes
that very point. My presence in Gaza also affirms that any resolution
of the conflict must include all the peoples of the country,
Palestinian and Israeli alike.

  1. Gaza – frei oder besetzt, das ist hier die Frage (sorry German) identifies the importance of testing the siege from the standpoint

    • of international law and
    • of underscoring the criminal dereliction of legal obligations by the State of Israel as an occupying power.

Here's hoping the Israeli Navy uses this opportunity to "test" its new Haveret ship to ship missile!

Is it not strange, someone will always find some reason to complain about the actions of groups trying get some justice for the Palestinian people?

Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, director of Shurat HaDin Israel Law Center link to
complains to attorney general of California that the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and other Gaza Boat organizers have conspired to violate the U.S. Neutrality Act, 18 U.S.C. § 960, within the boundaries of his state!!!!

I did not make the above post. SOG's up to his usual honest standards, posting in someone else's real name, in this case mine (yet again).

BTW, Iran just successfully tested their own home-grown ship-to-ship missile–has quite a range.

Israeli Navy? Israeli Navy!?!? Soggy you dunce! You think like a goyisher kop!

This isn't for the Israeli Navy–this is the PERFECT opportunity for a MOSSAD operation! — You know, to make it look like the PALESTINIANS fired on the boat.

Isn't that just brilliant? (Don't thank me–it's all for the good of zionism)

Then these global justice nuts will stop bitchin' and start believing us, when we lie to 'em about the Arabs.

I just hope there aren't any survivors though, like on the USS Liberty. Couple of asshole witnesses ruins everything.

Gaza is unlucky, but without the Hamas and other antiPalestinian leaders, it could be a happy place.

If McCain or Hillary wins this election, we can see the end of the kid-gloves policy on the Iranian junta.

  8. charles Keating says:

You mean the Zionist sock-puppet regime continues? I'm sure the Palestinians will be unhappy if so–but I wouldn't put your hopes on Hillary since she's no longer a contender.

  9. Eva Smagacz says:

The idea of a ferry service is fantastic, it is just not going to happen. Israel is not going to allow anybody to challenge the siege of Gaza, regardless of International Law, and we all know it. It may let one landing happen, to minimize the news coverage, but it will prevent it from turning publicity stunt to a regular ferry service. But at least the children will get batteries for hearing aids, this one time. In a subversive move maybe next crossing will take paper for school children, although Arab children capable of reading and writing are clear and present danger to Israel.

This is astute; it also highlights the ultimate point of learning, from the historical rapid ethnic POV?
