One Palestinian’s Story Influences the Swedish Nation

This is how society is supposed to work in the era of human rights. A Swedish Christian organization finds out that a Swedish lock company has a factory in the Occupied Territories, enjoying tax breaks and all the rest. Three organizations condemn the plant.  Swedish radio, amazingly, does a story on it, highlighting a Palestinian narrative:

Swedish Radio News has spoken with a Palestinian who says in 1986
his family was expelled from the land where the Swedish factory is now
located.

Assa Abloy [I guess that's Swedish for Master locks] has issued a press release saying that it has
been influenced by the report, and after consideration has decided to
review the situation.

Now imagine for a moment that Our journalism was working. And just think of all the expulsions and illegal acts that we are implicated in… (Thanks to CJ Harwood)

Mmmmm….did they use tractors made in Peoria to kick that guy off his land, paid for USA tax dollars?

"Now imagine for a moment that Our journalism was working."

Our journalism is working. Unfortunalely, our media masters support the violence and illegal acts that Israel directs towards Palestinians and others in the region.

  3. Klas Sandberg says:

Assa Abloy just announced that the company will move its factory away from the West Bank.

To understand why these NGO's were able to influence the company's policy you need to know how powerful the labour unions are in the nordic countries.
Companies outsourcing labour are bound by the same laws and ethics, and monitored even closer than the others.

    Your are right.

    Your journalism is working.

Untill you dare criticizing Israel. Then it becomes dysfunctional.

Well it's obvious even to an idiot that US journalist isn't working…as it is suppose to work.

The blackout on Israeli actions and the true Palestine story….who do we credit for that?

Is it the jews, the zionist, the nutcase doomsday christians..who?

Since I can remember here in the US it has been that way…is it jewish film makers in bollywood? jews in the media? the lobby? the willing politicans?..who exactly is responsible for the myth of Israel.

Of course they don't report anything else correctly either….we are all suppose to believe that Russia invaded poor little Georgia just for the hell of it too.

Of the top six purest democracies in the world, five are Scandinavian. The USA is #18; Israel is #38 if memory serves (with all the other Middle East players being much lower).

What does this mean? Does it have something to do with being Nordic?

  7. Dag Andersson says:

    @anon

    Hard to say.

I don't think being nordic per.se is the reason. 1000 years ago we were far from peaceful. But we are a very homogenous society, that makes the idea of egalitarism more appealing. Besides, very few are religious, that makes us more tolerant.Yet another factor is the high score in The Human Development Index which reflects Standard of living ,health and education.

All of these factors interacts and give positive feed-back
