I was expecting a Palestinian-Obama link this week but I thought it would be with Edward Said and the photo of the Obamas and the Saids at dinner with some quotes by the late Edward which Obama would then denounce. I think in addition to Jews, McCain is using this 'PLO Spokesman Khalidi' controversy play to more rural, more nominally Christian Zionist voters (the hard core Christian Zionists are already well in his camp do to their shared lust for violence) and also playing to more cosmopolitan philo-semitic gentiles who get their opinions of the Jewish community from movies (always the embattled, innocent victim) and their opinion of Israel from mainstream media (always the besieged victim). The portrait he’s trying to paint is of Obama conspiring with big, bad, throat slitting Arabs against poor little Jewish Israel, which only wants a few moments of peace and quiet. What kind of horrible person would do such a thing?
